Beneath The Cerulean Sky*Chapter 1
Babe, I’ll be home late. There’s a lot of things to take care in the office. Don’t forget to eat your dinner, take a good rest, I’ll be home as soon as possible.
Love.
Nara sighs as she finished reading the message. Her husband is getting pretty busy these days. After he got a promotion last month, dinner together at home become a scarce moment. The said man often stays up late due to his overloaded works. He comes home at the dawn only for a swift nap before he goes back to the high piles of paper in the office. Nara never complains. The girl understands it perfectly. But then, being a career woman herself, she also needs someone to talk after her long day of work as a CEO’s personal assistant from one of the most influential company in the town.
Nara walks down the stairs and heads to the kitchen. Her tummy has been growling for a while the girl just can’t hold it anymore. She only gets herself a slice of bread, spreading her favorite strawberry jam on it. Although she is hungry, dinner without her husband just doesn’t feel right. After pouring the only box of banana milk left in the refrigerator to the glass, she took a sip of it before bringing the glass with her to her room. Nara sits down on her working chair, scanning the documents that she took home with her earlier. She pulled her hair up, folding it into a mess bun, placing her glasses on and started to work it off.
The girl takes a side glance to the clock frequently. It is already 9 p.m. but the one whom she is waiting for is not yet to be home. The sound of punched keyboard is slowly going off, replaced by a hypnotizing sound of ticking clock. Nara fell asleep on her desk, leaving some of her papers scattered on the desk and floor.
Jongin pulls the knob of his front door. It wasn’t locked and he slides in easily. The man huffed. This is the umpteenth time she left the door unlock, he thought. Careful not to make a noise, he takes off his shoes and puts it on the shelf. Doesn’t even think to throw his tired body into the couch, Jongin heads to the kitchen and took a glass of water. He takes a look around but his wife is nowhere to be found. While loosen up his tie, the man slowly going up stairs heading to his room. Right before he touches the knob, his peripheral vision caught the light through the wide opened door inside his wife’s work room. It is still on.
The husband found Nara is sleeping safe and sound. She sleeps upon her folded hands on the desk. The man just smiles at the sight. Jongin approaches the girl and her hair lovingly before kneeling down and takes the scattered paper, tidying it up. The man also manages to save all her works before shutting the pc down. He pats her shoulder lightly, and whispers on her ear.
“Nara… baby wake up.” He whispers with his husky voice.
The girl stirs, “Mmh… you’re home?” Nara pulls herself to sit straight, stretches her hand, and then rubs her eyes. Her desk was tidied up, her pc was shut down.
Nara was about to reach the man but Jongin is faster, she found herself scooped on a back hug, “I already told you not to wait for me.” He nuzzles his head to her neck. The girl just chuckles.
“How could I not wait for my husband to come home?” She turns her body, now facing Jongin straight. She entwined her fingers on the back of his neck, his hand circled on her waist. “He has been pretty busy these days that I miss him so much.” She leans in to give a soft peck for him. “Let’s get you to bed, you must be tired.”
Nara is in the kitchen, brewing the husband’s favorite chamomile tea while Jongin cleans himself up. Every time she makes it, she will remember their first sweet encounter. It was in an herbal shop. Nara was busy choosing which one she should have for her mom when suddenly a man stood up next to her. He looked a bit confused. His eyes explored the whole rack looking for something.
"Excuse me, can you tell me which one is chrysanthemum? I've been looking for it for a while but I can't find it." He asked Nara shyly. He pulled his hand and ruffled the back of his head.
"Oh, unfortunately, they ran out of chrysanthemum. I also wanted to buy it before." She answered him and sent a gentle smile.
"Ah, I
