Chapter 54

Jaejoong remember the morning, a very cheerful nurse had come into his room with a tray of food, he didn’t give her much of his attention, he was deep in his own thoughs. She set the tray on his lap, “I know you don’t look well, but not eating won’t help, try and eat even a little you need your strength for today.” Jaejoong had closed his eyes on here. His mother had left him at that point to freshen up. Right now it was late noon, he just come back to his room after the aspiration, and right now he was in the worse pain he had ever felt in his life. He couldn’t move at all a slight jolted made him whimper. He was alone for a moment and he was glad he couldn’t stand the looking at him like this. He just wanted to wake up from this awful dream. But there was no waking up from this, it was happening.

When his parents returned, his father brought a few treats but Jaejoong didn’t feel like it, he had been really down. But who could blame him? He had people coming in all day, but it wasn’t until one arrival that he cried his eyes out again.

Yunho had been in the hospital for four hours already. He was told he had to wait until they felt Jaejoong was ready, Leeteuk had stay the day with him. He peaked into the room when he could. Even when Jaejoong returned from the theatre, he wanted to be with him. He was glad when they allowed him in. “Jaejoong…” Jaejoong didn’t move though his eyes shot open when Yunho got closer, his eyes widened in surprise at the sight of his boyfriend.

“Yun? What are you…?”

Yunho didn’t even wait for Jaejoong to finished his question he simply threw down beside Jaejoong and held his face in his hands. Immediately, Yunho could tell that Jaejoong was upset, was very upset and almost the moment that he threw his arms around Yunhos neck, he started to cry, out of worry, exhaustion and relief that his Yunho was here.

“We’ll leave you boys alone, for a little while.” Heechul and Siwon left the room where Leeteuk was.  

“Shh…” Yunho tried to soothe his softly sobbing boyfriend “I-I… w-was so worried about y-you… I came last night but you were asleep.” Jaejoong hiccupped, looking up at Yunho, he forgotten about the pain even for a moment his tears prompt on his cheeks.

“Hey, don’t cry Joongie sweetheart,” Yunho brushed Jaejoong’s tears from his cheeks. “You remember what I told you? You’re only meant to smile...” Yunho wished he could take Jaejoong pain but that wouldn’t be happen. Yunho held Jaejoong as he calmed down. Yunho couldn’t help but kiss Jaejoong longer than he usually did. “I missed you.”

“Yunho…”

“Don’t talk about it…” Yunho held him. “You’re going to be alright. I got to see a bit of the game you played on Saturday. You did great…” Yunho didn’t talk about Jaejoong and how ill he looked. Yunho talked about everything his trip, anything. He didn’t want Jaejoong to think and he was helping Jaejoong who was laughing and smiles after an hour he spent with him. Yunho smiled, affectionately combing through Jaejoong 's soft hair.

“Promise me you won’t shut me out whatever the outcome…”

“Okay, I promise,” he conceded, giving him a quick kiss.

“When are you able to leave?”

“I don’t know,” Jaejoong answered. “They’re running tests to see if it’s back. Everyone must think I’m a freak at school.”

“No they don’t and even if they do, what do you care. They shouldn’t concern you.” Yunho told him, “Even if they did, I’ll put them in their place.” Jaejoong smiled and hugged Yunho when his parent returned the couldn’t help but noticed how relaxed Jaejoong look in Yunho’s hold. Yunho had helped Jaejoong just for been there for him. When they brought food in for Jaejoong to eat Yunho help encourage him to eat.

“You must be so tired, baby...” Jaejoong locked his hand with Yunho as Yunho got him to lay back down cause he was but he didn’t want to sleep. Yunho was good with Jaejoong, too good Heechul worried how this would affect Yunho in the long run if Jaejoong was sick again. He wondered would Yunho be strong enough for Jaejoong to continue the fight. When Jaejoong wasn’t able to, he had to hope it was… as it was for his son.

Yunho spent all the time with Jaejoong he could, even Junsu and Yoochun and Yunho brother came to visit both knew not to bring him down. They were good to have Heechul loved all the teenage acting like they should teenagers. When the result came it was just Jaejoong and his parent.

“I have the result,” he told them asking them to sit as he read out the result, Heechul cupped Jaejoong’s hand, as did his father. Jaejoong’s stomach lunched. “I’ve received the result of the aspiration, I’m afraid your suspicion are correct. Your son has Leukaemia.

Leukaemia…

The word echo through all of them, Siwon made a sound out of the back of this throat, whilel Heechul just looked at the doctor not blinking. He felt numb… It was real it had come back. Jaejoong pulled his knees to his chest. Heechul got up from where he was and held Jaejoong, as he asked, “When do we start the treatment?”

“As soon as possible this type of cancer is best beaten if we get it early enough.”

“He’ll need to go on the list for a match… he doesn’t have a sibling that matches.” Heechul spoke with fact getting what he could across.” The doctor took note down as Heechul spoke. “Tonight we’re going to give him another blood transfusion to build up his strength.” Siwon and Heechul nodded as Jaejoong stayed silent, not emotion he had nothing left to cry about, his worse fear had come true. Jaejoong closed his eye taking all the information in, as the doctor spoke to his parent about the medicine they were going to start him on. At one point Jaejoong stopped listening, it was easier to zone out, sure what could this doctor say that he already didn’t know?

Yunho was sitting at the kitchen table waiting, they had just sat down to dinner when the phone rang, Leeteuk pick it up, and from the expression on his mother face it was Heechul. He left the room leaving them all to wonder until he came back, Yunho had an eerie feeling inside him as he watched his mother leave. When his mother return they all looked at him for the news. His mother could only nod he’s head before breaking down. Kangin got up and held him, while the other processed the news.

“What are you saying Umma?”

“Yunho…”

“What… don’t lie to me!” he shouted. Yunho kept asking him. “Leukaemia… it couldn’t be… No!” He refused to believe it, someone was playing a joke and awful joke at that. Yunho stormed out of the room and out the front door. No! He couldn’t believe this… not Jaejoong, not now, Yunho stormed out to the hallway and slammed the door on his way out. “Kangin go after him, I’ll be fine…” Leetuek dried away his tears, Kangin did. Kangin trail after Yunho as Leeteuk talk to his two other son’s both silence from the news they had just heard.
