Date 4

Just Give Me Ten Dates

“COEX? Are we going shopping?” Daesung scowled. “You do know I'm not as much into fashion as you are, right? So this is probably not the best way to woo me.” he said while sending Seunghyun a dramatic wink as a joke. The joke was on him since he didn't realize just how cute he was being, Seunghyun was having a field day. But he was happy at how straight forwardly Daesung was approaching this whole thing. He silently led the way, allowing Daesung to run wild with his biteless little word-attacks. Rest assured he would pay him back, all in good time.

“Ah... the aquarium..” Daesung had a worried expression, “They... they are all in cages right?”. “Yeah of course they are, so you can control the distance between you at all times.” he assured him, suppressing a snort. “I don't know... they always find a way to approach me, no matter how impossible it's supposed to be...” Daesung bit his lips, giving the entrance a furtive look. Seunghyun laughed, “We can do something else if you want to, I just thought it would be fun to laugh at all the weird looking fishes together.”.

“Well, at least you seem to have bought a book on dating advice.” Daesung chuckled as he reluctantly went inside. “What! Like I need dating advice! I'm Big Bang's T.O.P. if you had forgotten..” he protested in a low but insistent voice as he followed him in. “Yeah, getting girls to swoon over the cool stage you while hiding the babo you does not qualify as being a dating expert.” Daesung retorted. It was a joke but it had a bit of a sting to it. What had gotten into him today? “Oh, I've dated some pretty famous and sought after people and I didn't hear them complaining.” he threw back at him in a sassy tone. “You know, dating isn't all like it's portrayed in the movies.” he added, but sort of regretted it the moment he said it. He didn't want this to turn into something. They were used to teasing each other, but he didn't like where this was headed.

“Oh.. I've dated.” Daesung said in a cheeky tone.

“What? You have? When?” he was taken aback, shocked even. He could feel something stirring inside of him. Who had he dated? Why hadn't he told him? He had thought they were past this stage, the ultra secretive stage, yet he still kept such pivotal information to himself. He had thought he was special, that he alone had managed to break Daesung's outer armor, getting far enough to have access to privileged information. Turns out he was just delusional. He was no different from a random person on the street. Daesung was as closed a book to him as to anyone else. Would it always remain so? Was there no one that could penetrate that carefully crafted mask Daesung wore every day?

“Are you dating someone now?!?” Seunghyun added mortified. “No, of course not, else I would've never agreed to this little experiment.” Daesung assured him with a cute little wink and a smile capable of warming up a whole house. Seunghyun breathed a tiny bit lighter. “But..” he hesitated, trying not to reveal how disappointed and slightly hurt he was, “But why didn't you tell me.. when you were dating?”. Daesung coughed uncomfortably, biting the inside of his lower lip. “I don't know. Just. There was no reason to.” he shrugged. “Like.. if it would've turned into something serious I probably would've...” he quickly added. It didn't really do much to comfort Seunghyun, it still stung.

“Hey, it's not like you've ever told me anything!!” Daesung protested, sensing the atmosphere going awry. “That's different..” Seunghyun replied. “Riiight..” Daesung raised his eyebrow unconvinced. “So who are those famous people you were talking about?” he added teasingly, his curiosity shining through. When Seunghyun hesitated he started poking him repeatedly, “Who? Who? Who?” he giggled. Seunghyun snorted involuntarily. “I don't kiss and tell.” he told him with a diva-ish attitude and almost a straight face, walking faster in order to escape him.

Thankfully he reached the counter before Daesung could attack him with follow up questions. He bought the tickets and hoped that once inside, the funky fishes would take Daesung's mind off their conversation. How optimistic that had been. Not two seconds after they had entered he started up again.

“Look! Ha ha! Look at that weird fish!!” Seunghyun tried, but Daesung was smarter than to fall for such a simple trick. “Tell me one name, who is the most famous person you've dated?” he insisted. “I can't just name-drop his name like that...” Seunghyun pointed out.

Daesung went quiet. Too quiet. They walked around in silence for a short while, neither of them really looking at the fishes as they passed them by. He contemplated making an exception to his hush-hush policy, even though it was a policy that was very dear to him. The thought of outing someone else was horrifying to him. And he wouldn't be outing just anyone, he would be outing an idol, a guy that made his living off his image. Not that he didn't trust Daesung 100%, Daesung would never expose something like that, he didn't have one speck of doubt in his mind. Yet, it was the principle of the thing. He sure as hell didn't want anyone outing him, no matter how trustworthy the listener. Still. If it was that important to Daesung...

“So.. you've dated guys before...” Daesung finally said, his voice a near inaudible whisper. Seunghyun started. He felt as if he had been slapped with a cold, wet rag. Of course he had dated guys before, what should he have dated.. girls?! He had thought that by confessing to Daesung, he was outing himself as well. But apparently not. “Eh.. yeah.. I'm..” he paused, why was it so hard to say it out loud? He was kind of ashamed of himself for having so much trouble with it. He looked furtively around, making sure there was no one in earshot. Luckily it was a slow day so they practically had the aquarium for themselves. “...you do get that I'm gay right...?” he had his eyes on Daesung, monitoring his reaction.

Daesung looked shocked. Seunghyun didn't get it. He knew that he was in love with him even before he told him. What had he thought, that he was Daesung-ual? That he was the only one that could get his heart pumping? It was kind of a cute thought, even though it did hint at megalomaniac-like tendencies. “You didn't think that.. you were the only one?” Seunghyun asked softly, not a hint of judgment to be found in his tone. “Ehh..” Daesung rubbed the back of his head embarrassingly, “I don't know... maybe I did.. I didn't really think that far...”. Ahh, what a cutie. His face was flushed and he looked a bit awkward in his own skin. What Seunghyun wanted the most was to hug him, ruffle his hair a bit and whisper into his ear that even though he was into boys in general, he was the only boy that he really wanted.

“I'm fine with it though..” Daesung added after getting over most of the awkwardness. His mojo was playing hard to get, hiding somewhere he couldn't find it. Seunghyun snorted. “You sure about that? You don't look very fine to me.” he winked at him while snickering slightly, feeling more at ease again.
