Date 1

Just Give Me Ten Dates

“Bowling? Really?” Daesung laughed heartily as he got out of the car. “What?” Seunghyun asked, not getting what was so funny, but glad Daesung was in such high spirits. He had been afraid it would be awkward between them, but Daesung was his contagiously cheerful self. “This is how you're going to win me over? With bowling?!” Daesung snorted, looking at him incredulously. Seunghyun coolly shrugged his shoulders, hiding the fact that he hadn't really come up with a completely formed master plan yet. But they both liked bowling, and it was fun and intimate. A perfect icebreaker after their intense conversation that night in his room. He wanted to start out light, to lull Daesung into his comfort zone and make him fall for him without really noticing it happening. Only realizing it after he had fallen head over heals and then he wouldn't be able to reason his feelings away or overthink them.

“So this is supposed to make me see you in a completely different light, is it? Where I just fall face first, not knowing what hit me?!” Daesung asked incredulously. “Whatever you do, just don't physically hit me with a bowling ball.” Daesung giggled teasingly. Then he quickly added “It's okay to joke about it right?”, looking at him with furtive eyes, not sure if he had crossed some sort of boundaries. “Of course! Let's just be us okay, the point tonight is just to have fun together, we don't have to define everything or dwell on every little feeling, analyzing it to pieces. Let's just bowl!” Seunghyun smiled. “Last one in is a loser!” he yelled. He had already started running when he said it, laughing evilly at the head start he managed to steal. Normally Daesung would mysteriously divine what was on Seunghyun's mind, getting the better of him almost every time. But this time he had been so distracted and stuck in his own head, that he didn't know what hit him. Seunghyun won by far.

“Loser! Loser!” Seunghyun danced around, laughing and pointing at Daesung, as well as making the loser sign on Daesung's forehead. Daesung peered his eyes, playfully shooting sparks at him in revenge. “Oh, we'll see who the loser is at the end of the night.” Daesung said provocatively, dramatically pulling up the sleeves of his shirt one by one.

When they had settled in at the lane they were given, Seunghyun inconspicuously took off his jacket. He'd worn a brand new shirt he'd bought especially. It was a tight cut, emphasizing the features of his body in all the right places. He had spent hours grooming, determined to look his best for Daesung. This was his chance and he was not going to blow it. He was going to show Daesung all his best sides, show him how incredible they would be together. Of course they knew each other pretty well already, so it was difficult to genuinely surprise Daesung or show him something completely new. However, he was hoping he could shine a new light on their relationship and perhaps try to open up a little more. They normally didn't talk that much about their feelings, they were guys and behaved as such. Even though they had rejoiced together, cried together, fought together, survived together, that night had been the first time that Seunghyun had voiced his feelings for Daesung. Granted, Daesung knew him so well that he didn't even have to be told, he just figured it out on his own. Incredible. But still, sometimes things needed to be said. Nothing could grow without water, so Seunghyun was going to water their relationship. Maybe even give it a dash of fertilizer while he was at it. It had the potential to bloom into a colorful flower and Seunghyun wanted to experience its beauty.

“So who's starting?” Daesung asked with a purple bowling ball in his hand, repeatedly sticking his fingers into the holes on it, trying to figure out whether it was the right fit. “You really need to ask?!” Seunghyun faked outrage, which was difficult since he was half-laughing while doing it. “Oh I'm sorry your highness, the king must of course go first!” Daesung took a deep bow, waving his hand overly dramatically in the process. Seunghyun burst out in a fit of laughter. That little sillybilly, he was so naturally witty and funny. How could he not fall for him? He dared anybody to spend more than five minutes with him and not fall for him. It was impossible! No one was that frozen inside that Daesung's sunshine wouldn't melt them through and through.

Seunghyun grabbed a black ball, attempting to assume the role of a cool king that was about to show off his majestic skills. He had grabbed the black one since it was more intimidating than say, a pink one. However, he hadn't taken into account that the black one was more intimidating for a reason. It was incredibly heavy! Seunghyun had to do all he could just to not drop it. Still he played it cool, taking his position at the end of the lane. A strike. That was what he was going for. He was going to gallantly throw the ball down the lane with enough force to all but break the pins. That was the plan anyway.

He assumed a classic bowling starting position, or what he thought one would look like, raising the ball with two hands, one of his feet raised as well so only the toe of his shoe touched the ground. Now for the fierce stare down the lane. In order to knock the pins down, one had to stare them down first. Or that was what Seunghyun imagined bowling geniuses to do. He was really just making this all up as he went along. It just had to look like he knew what he was doing, it didn't actually have to make sense. Now, for the finishing touch. The actual throwing of the ball.

Seunghyun took a deep breath, visualizing where the ball was supposed to go.

With difficulty he raised the ball a level higher, about to throw it. “If you make it, I'll give you a kiss” a sensual whisper sneaked into his ear canal. The hairs on the back of his neck rose, a goose bump wave ensuing. He was so taken aback that he dropped the bowling ball. It made a loud thud as it nearly cracked the floor, thankfully sparing all the toes that were present in the near vicinity. The ball rolled leisurely in the direction of the gutter, ungraciously plumping down into it, taking forever to roll down the length of the lane.

“HA HA!! Got ya!” Daesung shouted in joy, jumping around like he had just won an Olympic medal. “Who's the loser now?!” he added, snickering. Traumatized, Seunghyun just stared at the ball as it rolled away from him. Out the corner of his eye he could see Daesung starting to bite his lip, fidgeting uncomfortably. “Too much?” he asked apologetically, pulling the sleeves of his shirt down. Seunghyun was silent a while, both to gather his thoughts as well as to punish Daesung a bit. It had been too much. Way too much. But he was going to take advantage of it.

“Not if you're a man of your words.” Seunghyun turned to face him with a taunting expression, challenging Daesung to take it to the next level. He was being a bit unfair, he knew Daesung would take the bait. “I win the game and you give me a kiss.” Seunghyun stated firmly. Daesung's eyes looked furtively around, trying to fix their gaze on anything but Seunghyun's eyes. It didn't work. Finally they gave in, their eyes meeting. Seunghyun's eyes egged him on. “Okay.. but what do I get if I win?” Daesung answered playfully. Was he really flirting back? And if so, did it mean anything? No, Seunghyun was going to curb his expectations. Daesung was just taking part in the game he had started, nothing more.

“Mmm.. you can choose the activity for date number 2.” Seunghyun offered.

“Now we're talking! You're going down Mr. Choi! Just sit back and watch..” Daesung winked at him as he took his position, caressing the purple ball in his hand like it was the world's biggest diamond.
