Definitely One-of a-Kind Gift
More Than Just A J.Tunes ProbeeI took a deep breath before entering, trying to calm my anger slightly. The music had stopped, perfect timing for my entrance.
I flung the door open with a bang making the four boys in the room all jump.
"That's not a nice way for a dongseung to enter a room full of his Hyungs!" Yoo Ah In scrambled quickly to his feet.
My eyes pierced through him like lightening as I made my way over to him.
"Give it back!" was all I said with my hand extended. My voice was thick with hatred.
“What are you talking about, Kim?" He took a step back.
"Give it back... Now!" my voice raised a couple of octaves. My rage was burning through my stomach.
"I think you need to back off and try a more polite way of speaking before I even consider talking to you!" He turned his back to me like I didn't even matter.
All my anger boiled out. I ran at him, grabbed him by one arm and shoved him up against the wall. His face showed his shock.
"What do you think you're doing, Kim? Let go of me!" He struggled to free himself.
"Where is it? I know you've taken it!" I growled in his ear.
At that moment, I heard a bunch of people entering the room behind me. A few of them gasped at the sight.
"What in the Hell is going on in here?!" That one voice brought me back to reality. It belonged to Kim Hyun Joong. "James, are you crazy? Release him!"
He grabbed me around the waist and yanked me off my captive. Yoo Ah In coughed and rubbed his neck.
"That guy needs help!" Yoo Ah In pointed his finger at me.
"Shut it, Yoo!" Hyun Joong barked. “You're not helping matters!"
"What?! He assaulted me, not the other way around!" Yoo hissed at the older Kim.
"Oh, really?" Kim Hyun Joong threw my shirt at Yoo. "Then you explain this to me?!"
"What are you talking about?" he quickly recognized the shirt, "That's just a harmless prank...Big Deal!"
"Someone took something very special to me, I want it back!" I started towards Yoo again. Kim tightened his hold in me.
"Yoo Ah In, if you have it... Return it or get the person who does to return it, before tonight's performance or we will inform our manager about this whole incident."
Kim Hyun Joong dragged me out of the room and pulled me over to the stairwell.
"Snap out of it, James!" He shook me harder than necessary. The jolt brought me back.
"Think! Will you? If you're caught fighting, that's the end of you here! Is that what you want?" Kim Hyun Joong was shouting at me like an older brother would do to his little brother to make him see reason. "Is that what you've worked so hard for? Just to get kicked out so close to your goal."
I sunk down to me knees. He was right of course. I wasn’t thinking. I just reacted.
"Thanks, Hyungnim." I dropped my head. "I was about to do something I would regret in there... But that watch! ... It is my grandfather's. I can't lose it."
"Don't worry about it...I guarantee you'll have it back before tonight’s performance." He grabbed my arm and pulled me back up to standing. How can he be so sure? “I think you need some lunch... You'll think and feel better with a full stomach." He guided me into the stairwell.
To my bewilderment, I just realized Sulli was standing to my right and Kevin in back with her. Her eyes were wide with concern, as well as a hint of fear too.
"What was all that about?" Sulli asked Kim Hyun Joong as he held the door open.
He shook his head at her. “Later... Make sure he eats a decent lunch. Kevin, stay with James. Do not let him out of your sight. No matter what! Got it!" He was angry too.
"You!" He pointed at me. "Stay away from Yoo Ah In or I will make you regret the day you were born." His tone was chilling to say the least. He meant what he said. "Stay out of the dorm until I tell you otherwise."
"But..." I went to protest, but one quick look at Kim Hyun Joong made me stop. “Fine."
"Go...Eat...Now!" He pushed me up the stairs in the direction of the cafeteria.
I sat and ate. I have no idea what I ate or how it tasted, but I did what I was told. Kevin was staring at me.
"Please...enough already! I'm fine...Really!" I tried to convinced him and maybe even myself that it was true.
I swung my leg over the bench to get up. "Where are you going?" Kevin asked.
"I need some air..." I headed in the direction for the outside garden terrace.
It was still seasonally warm out. I found an empty bench to lay on, covered my eyes with my arm. "Wake me in an hour."
"Yes, your majesty." Kevin retorted, bowing at me. He plugged in his earphones and went about practicing his dance moves for tonight's performance.
...
At round 5:00pm, the all-clear was past. I could now go back up to my dorm.
True to Kim Hyun Joong’s word, my watch was back sitting on my desk...There was a new shirt and a fixed jacket hanging in my closet. My shoes were cleaned out too. It was like nothing had happened.
Kim Hyun Joong walked into our room and sat down on his bed. "I, now, understand why you totally freaked-out."
"Oh?" I said as I placed the watch on my wrist.
"That's definitely some one-of-a-kind gift." He continued. "The person who took it, didn't realize it...so not to worry...It's not my place to say anything about it, either."
"Thanks, I appreciate that." I let out a loud sigh. He laughed and I smiled for the first time today.
