K.Will- Where are you, my love?

The clouds were gray, blocking out the sun’s rays.

There was no sign of any cold winds blowing.

‘That’s odd’ a 14 year old Eun Mi said to herself, waiting for the afternoon winds to arrive.

But the winds never came.

Instead, she heard grunts coming from afar.

Huh!  Uh!

Being the curious girl she was, Eun Mi peeked from behind the building.

She saw a group of boys surrounding another boy who was on the ground.

‘You little ing bastard think you’re all that because you’re a Noble huh?’ one said, towering over latter.

‘Get up you piece of .  I’m not done with you’ the red haired one kicked the boy.

The boy groaned.

The blonde boy cackled.

‘And you call yourself a Noble.’

‘Your mom is just a who happened to find you the right daddy’ another commented.

The boy got up and smirked.

‘At least I wasn’t a mistake.’

‘WHAT?!’ roared the blonde boy.

‘You’re just jealous because I’m better than you and your of a mom’ the boy replied, his black hair covering his eyes.

‘Don’t you dare talk about my mother that way Oh Sehun,’ the blonde boy held up the younger by his collar.

The blonde boy’s eyes flashed yellow.

Sehun snorted.

‘Your eyes say it all; peasant’

The blonde boy growled and raised a fist then hit him with all his might.

His lip cut open.

Sehun’s eyes flashed a gray with specks of gold, but it was too fast for Eun Mi to spot.

Her eyes were focused on the fist that would most likely strike again.

‘You’re gonna pay for that’ Sehun smugly replied.

‘Oh yeah?  And who’s gonna make me?  Your daddy?’ laughed the other boys.

Sehun flashed a fake smile and clenched fist.

The boy choked up, scratching at his neck.

There was nothing there but the wind.

‘Awww, what’s the matter?  Cat got your tongue?’ laughed Sehun.

What’s going on?  Why is that boy playing around like that?

Eun Mi watched them and thought.

Her thought was loud, so loud that one of the boys heard it.

‘There’s someone here,’ the red haired boy said, his eyes flickering yellow.

Oh no… How did he know??

Eun Mi began to panic.

‘HEY!  WHAT ARE YOU KIDS DOING OVER THERE?’ a teacher approached them from the other side, opposite of Eun Mi.

‘’ the boys muttered.

Eun Mi let out a sigh of relief as she hid behind a tree.

Sehun unclenched his fist and the boy breathed life back into his lungs.

‘So close’ cursed Sehun.

The teacher chased after the other boys who ran right past Eun Mi.

The boy with red hair glanced at her, and smirked.

Eun Mi paled, but was still.

After the teacher and the boys left, Eun Mi slowly crept out of her hiding spot and approached Sehun.

Sehun was sitting in the dirt, his back against the wall with visible cuts on his face.

His breathing was evening out and his eyes were closed.

Eun Mi bent down to his level, hands tightening on her backpack straps.

‘A-are you o-okay?’ She asked, slightly concerned.

‘Why do you care?’ Sehun replied, eyes still closed.

‘I-i don’t know,’ stuttered Eun Mi.

‘Just leave.  I don’t need you’ Sehun heaved out a sigh as he tried to get up.

The pain was overwhelming that he slouched back down.

‘But you’re hurt….’

‘Just go away.  You’re annoying’ urged Sehun.

Eun Mi’s eyebrows furrowed together.

‘No’ she firmly said.

This girl is so annoying.  Why can’t she just leave me alone?

‘Aish.  Just leave!’ Sehun shooed her away.

Eun Mi sighed, but nodded.

‘Fine….’ she gave in.

Eun Mi slowly stood back up and walked away.

She’s actually leaving?  Che.  Of course she would.  It’s not like she cares about me.

20 minutes later, Sehun was still there, sitting in the dirt.

Rain began to sprinkle down.

His wounds stung with each rain drop that fell on him.

Goddamn it Suho.  Stop watching so many sad movies.

He wiped away the droplets and cursed his brother again.

Sehun groaned and closed his eyes again.

Why can’t I be a full vampire already?  I would already be healed by now.  ing puberty.

All of a sudden, the rain stopped.

Don’t tell me Suho actually heard me…

Sehun opened his eyes and saw Eun Mi again.

He scowled.

‘Didn’t I tell you to leave?’

‘I did’ she snickered, holding a clear umbrella above both their heads.

‘But you never said I couldn’t come back’ Eun Mi continued.

Well played.. Well played..

Sehun smirked in approval.

Eun Mi beamed back.

‘I went home to change and grab a few things’ Eun Mi finally said, plopping her backpack next to Sehun and opening it with one hand.

Sehun watched her struggle to open the bag, amused.

Eun Mi tried to hold the umbrella with her armpit, between her shoulder and neck, and even her teeth.

In the end, Sehun snatched the umbrella away from her.

‘Oh..’ Eun Mi looked up at Sehun.

Sehun looked away, as if nothing had happened.

Eun Mi smiled.

I knew you weren’t a cold bastard.

She dug into her backpack and pulled out a first aid kit.

Sehun raised an eyebrow.

‘Look at me’ Eun Mi told Sehun.

Sehun stared at her like she was crazy.

‘What?’

Eun Mi began disinfect his cuts on his face.

‘Ah!  Ouch!  Stop it!’  Sehun began to protest.

‘Stop moving!  It’ll stop hurting in a little bit,’ Eun Mi replied.

Sehun sighed and sat still.

He stared at her cute and focused face.

After applying medicine to his cuts, Eun Mi helped Sehun up.

‘Oh right!’ Eun Mi clapped her hands together.

‘I’m Lee Eun Mi!  Nice to meet you!’ she introduced herself.

Oh Sehun’ he replied, coolly looking ahead.

‘Well, Sehun-shi, do you want to go grab something to eat?’ Eun Mi asked.

‘No’ he coldly answered, but his stomach growled.

Eun Mi giggled.

‘You may not want to, but you stomach certainly does.’

Sehun’s cheeks turned pink.

‘Come on.  I’m treating’ Eun Mi tugged him along.

They arrived at the bus stop.

Sehun was carrying her backpack since she treated his wounds.

And in the blur of the moment, Sehun’s heart began to beat.

Eun Mi was smiling up.

The sun had come out.

She held her umbrella, and watched the sun slowly emerge from behind the clouds.

Sehun took out his phone to capture the moment.

‘Sehun look!  The sun’s out!’ exclaimed Eun Mi, pointing at the bright ball of light.

Sehun, for one of the first time in a while, smiled.

His smile turned into chuckles.

‘What’s so funny?’ pouted the younger.

‘Nothing’ Sehun grinned.

‘Tell meeee’ pleaded Eun Mi.

Eun Mi poked his side.

Sehun poked her back.

They began to poke each other back and forth.

‘Oh!  It’s a rainbow!’ Eun Mi pointed at the multitude of colors in the sky.

Sehun stopped poking her and looked up.

It really was a rainbow.

Silence overtook them and Eun Mi smiled up at the sky again.

Sehun took another picture.

‘Did you just take a picture of me?’

Sehun gulped.

‘No.. Don’t flatter yourself.  I was taking a picture of the rainbow’ Sehun replied, knocking her on the head, trying to keep it cool.

Eun Mi stuck her tongue out at him.

After the meal, they exchanged phone numbers.

Eun Mi typed Sehun’s number and name in.

Sehun did too.

‘You are now Ohreo’ giggled Eun Mi, pointing to her contact list.

Sehun rolled his eyes.

‘Ha ha’ he dryly laughed.

‘What about meeee?’ Eun Mi asked, trying to peek.

Sehun flicked her forehead.

‘I’m not done yet’

With nimble fingers, Sehun typed in her name.

Then he showed her his phone.

On the clear screen was the word Nurse.

Sehun stared at the photos he saved onto his laptop.

He his phone and scrolled through his contacts.

It’s been five years…

He stared at the name Nurse.

Then he picked up the white phone on his desk.

Sehun unlocked it and looked through its contacts.

This time, he saw something he didn’t expect.

A figure slowly crept down the stairs.

Kai came out of his room dressed in a white wife beater and plaid pajama pants, craving for his regular midnight snack: milk and chocolate chip cookies.

He walked into the kitchen and flipped the light switch on.

The figure ghosted past him.

The air smelled like peaches.

Opening the fridge, he pulled out a carton of milk.

Then he headed over to the cabinets and poured two glasses of milk.

He reached over to grab a plate, but heard a clank, and then saw a plate of cookies already on the dining table.

“What the...” he whispered to himself.

He grabbed the two cups of milk and quickly rushed over.

Slamming it down on the table, he searched the room for any signs of life.

Sighing, he slid down into a nearby seat.

Kai tugged on his hair.

“What am I doing?” he groaned into his hands.

He stared at the plate of cookies in front of him.

Kai reached for a glass of milk and began eating.

As he reached for the last cookie, another hand intercepted his.

“You always eat the last one”

Kai looked up, only to be met with warm brown eyes.

Her lips were curled up into a small smile.

The ends of her eyes went up like Chanyeol’s.

Her hair was placed to the right, tucked behind her ear.

It was still slightly damp, just like every night.

“Eun...Mi…” Kai croaked out.

Light flashed before his face.

Kai looked around him.

He was still in the dining room, except, this time, he was watching something.

Eun Mi came down the stairs in a pink sweater and white shorts.

Jongin!’ She ran down the stairs with open arms.

‘Hey baby’ Kai heard himself say.

Kai felt wobbly as his past self walked right through him.

The past Kai picked Eun Mi up into a bear hug.

‘How was your day?’

‘Bad.  But better now that you’re here’ Kai smiled, pecking her on the cheek.

‘Greasy boy’ Eun Mi teased.

‘Come on, let’s eat.’ Kai tickled her sides as they walked over to the table.

Kai watched the himself and Eun Mi converse, eat, laugh, and kiss.

His heart hurt, but it was still bearable.

Then he watched himself and Eun Mi play-fight over the last cookie.

‘How about we share it?’ Eun Mi negotiated.

The past Kai shook his head.

‘Nope, not this time’

‘Then what do you want?’ asked Eun Mi.

‘You know what I want,’ Kai grinned back.

Eun Mi sighed and rolled her eyes at him, but a smile was still evident on her face.

Kim Jongin!  Saranghae!’ (Kim Jongin!  I love you!) Eun Mi made a heart over her head.

Kai smiled and leaned in for a chaste kiss.

‘The answer to all my problems’ the past Kai replied, handing over the cookie.

‘Psh, you’re so greasy’ said Eun Mi as she bit into the cookie.

‘Say it again’ Kai whispered with his past self.

‘Say it again’ his past self said to Eun Mi.

Eun Mi grinned and walked over to Kai.

Kim.  Jong.  In.  Sa.  Rang.  Hae.  Saranghae, saranghae, saranghae, saranghae!’ (Kim.  Jong.  In.  I. Love.  You.  I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you!)

Eun Mi said, pecking him on the lips.

Kai smiled at the sight, but his heart hurt even more.

Light flashed again.

Kai was back to the dreary present.

“Eun Mi?” he called out.

There was no reply.

He called her name out, again and again.

No answer.

There was a whisper in the air.

A figure was outside.

Kai made out the figure to be of a girl dressed in white.

He rushed outside.

The smell of peaches hung in the air.

Then she disappeared.

But Kai clearly heard the last words: I love you.

He couldn’t comprehend anything.

He couldn’t breathe.

It was as if somebody had taken a knife and stabbed him in the heart.

Sehun shed a tear.

Then he let out silent sobs, dropping the phone on the desk.

On the screen, it was no longer Ohreo.

This time, it was Sehun<3.

It hurt so bad.

Kai clutched onto his heart.

His head was spinning, but the pain in his heart hurt even more.

But this time, Eun Mi couldn’t fix it.
