Combivent

Collide

A Soul can linger through the vast badlands of eternity, roam around as it watches with aching heart the ones who they loved, they cherish, they adored and hoped for live a normal, happy life while they are stuck in an eternity that knows no time, no space, they’re only there, wandering without a path, walking without feet, talking without a voice. Chaerin’s heart ached as her beloved soul was slowly parting from its body, and she, as useless as she felt, was just looking as his body slowly gave into the inviting sight of death.

“No Jiyong, please…” She cried, slowly lowering her face, her forehead touching his chest as it moved slower, as the air stop flowing from his airways. Slowly, Jiyong moved his face to the side, his pale lips trying to make the shape of a smile, but only blood oozed out from them. Chaerin shook her head, her eyes small with tears, her face flushed. There was no one else in the room, just them, for her. James held tight on Jiyong, then put him on the floor, and screamed some words to Dara, who quickly got next to Chaerin and pulled her back from Jiyong.

Chaerin yelled and fought Dara, crying hard as Jiyong only looked at her. “No, let go of me!” Chaerin screamed again and again, but Dara was stronger than she looked. James started the chest compressions on Jiyong, and after 30 compressions, he would blow hair through his mouth, closing his nose with two boney fingers. Chaerin saw as his neck and chest rose when James blew air, but Jiyong’s eyes looked distant, and even if Chaerin didn’t wanted to admit it, he looked dead.

James tried again and again to no avail, and as Chaerin was slowly submerging on her own misery, some rushed footsteps were heard next to them. One man with a black suit pushed James to the side and another one took out a syringe from one briefcase and handed it to the man that just pushed James. Chaerin looked at the man on top of Jiyong and screamed in hatred as she realized who he was.

“Get away from him!” She screamed and James grabbed the wrist of Hyunsuk, who had just grabbed the syringe. James looked at him with threatening eyes as Hyunsuk looked at him with a tender and worried expression.

“You want him to live or not?” Hyunsuk said, even if his words sounded as a threat, his voice was calm, soothing, even peaceful. James looked at Chaerin, and she looked at Jiyong, who was as still as a corpse.

“How do we know you’re just not going to kill him?” Chaerin said, her voice trembling. Hyunsuk uncapped the syringe and looked at her with patient eyes.

“You got two options, either you see him die, or you see him try something else.” He said and Chaerin thought for a moment, then Dara touched her shoulder slightly. Chaerin looked at her and she nodded slightly.

“Alright, do it.” Chaerin said and Hyunsuk inserted the syringe on Jiyong’s neck, exactly on the jugular and injected the clear liquid on the syringe. Chaerin looked with worried eyes as Hyunsuk injected the liquid on him, then removed the syringe and gave it back to the man with the briefcase. She looked at the man, and almost fell open as she realized it was no other than Seungri. James looked at her again, his eyes alert as he realized the same she had realized.

Hyunsuk looked at her as he caressed Jiyong’s forehead, she realized the color of his skin was slowly going back to normal, his chest rising normally, but his eyes remained closed. “There’s a reason why he was freed Miss. Lee, and that was because he’s injured. On his last mission on Dubai, he got trapped, and his captors injected his blood with Chlorine. The substance’s supposed to-“

“Make your lungs collapse, I know.” Chaerin said and Hyunsuk smiled while nodding. “But isn’t it supposed to leave your system with the antidote?” She asked.

“Indeed, it’s supposed,” Hyunsuk said, now sitting on the floor next to Jiyong. “But they mixed it with something else, something we haven’t identified. When we rescued him, his vitals were so low we thought he would die. I was devastated, but then, Youngbae made some research and found a way to keep him alive. We tried Penicillin, Surfactant, everything on our power, but there was only one thing that would help him get better. We had to inject a high doses of Albuterol mixed with Atrovent to make his bronchi expand.” He explained. Chaerin looked at him with a bewildered expression while James and Dara had a confused expression on their faces.

“So you’re telling us that he has a bronchial asthma?” Dara asked and Hyunsuk shook his head.

“I’m telling you that every day he has to inject himself with 30 units of Combivent directly to his veins to prevent his lungs from collapsing due to the lack of oxygen in them, caused by the unknown poison on his system. I’m telling you that without his treatment, he will die.” He said and Chaerin shook her head.

“That’s not possible…” She said and Hyunsuk nodded.

“I know, and trust us; he almost died three times until we found his cure.” He said and Chaerin scoffed. James looked at Hyunsuk and his front teeth.

“And why didn’t you tell us?” He said and Hyunsuk laughed.

“Would you tell the pawns of your enemies that secret? That my son could easily die if he doesn’t get his treatment?” He said and James shook his head. “You’re all still so young, and yet you all have so many experiences on your life, it’s not fair.” He finished.

“What do you know? Weren’t you the one who planned to kill me, kill us with Hyunseung?” Chaerin said and Hyunsuk shook his head.

“No my dear, I don’t work with him or for him. I’ve been working alone for the past 25 years, Hyunseung once betrayed me, almost costing me my life, and now, he wanted to make an alliance to eliminate his beloved jeweled. I can’t work with that type of people, so insane.” He said while shaking his head no.

“Your son?” Dara said and Hyunsuk nodded.

“I raised Jiyong, his dad sold him to me when he was 5 years old, but of course, Jiyong doesn’t know that.”

“Why would you then train your son to be a killer?” Chaerin said and he smiled.

“I’m not proud of that, I have to admit, but I had to. Jiyong couldn’t know he was under my wing; he had to believe he was like any other elite member, so he had to train. I’m not proud of my actions, and trust me Miss Lee, I would’ve protected him with my life if I could, but he’s not the only one under my wing, even if he’s the one I adopted.” He explained.

“No, you didn’t make him train because of that.” Chaerin said and Hyunsuk smiled, so did Seungri.

“You’re quite cunning my dear Miss Lee.” He said and Dara looked at Chaerin, then at Hyunsuk with wide eyes.

“You work for someone else, someone from the Major Elite…” Dara said and Hyunsuk nodded, but before Hyunsuk could tell more, a soft cough caught their attention. Jiyong slowly opened his eyes, coughing a bit, but to Chaerin’s relief, he wasn’t coughing out blood.

“Jiyong, glad you’re ok.” Seungri said, extending his hand to help him sit up. Jiyong looked at them with wide eyes, then at Chaerin, and the rest of the people around him.

“What happen?” He asked and before Chaerin could answer, Hyunsuk talked.

“Another collapse,” He said and Jiyong widened his eyes, scratching the back of his head. “When was the last time you had the Combivent?” Hyunsuk asked and Jiyong shrugged.

“I think it was the day of the reunion,” Jiyong said and looked at Chaerin, smiling a bit. “The day Chaerin came back.” He said and she widened her eyes.

“That was two days ago.” She said and he furrowed his eyebrows.

“Was it?” He asked, still scratching his head. He looked groggy, as if he had woken from a deep slumber, but he did, Chaerin thought, he was almost dead for a few minutes.

“That was the day they kidnapped you right?” Seungri asked and Jiyong nodded.

“Yeah,” He said and Hyunsuk lowered his head.

“There’s something we need to tell you Jiyong.” Hyunsuk said. For a moment, it was as if James, Dara and Chaerin had disappeared, as they talked, Chaerin felt so distant, as if she was another frame on the wall.

“What is it?” Jiyong said, now resting his back on the wall.

“They killed TOP, I’m so sorry Jiyong, I tried to save him, but…” Hyunsuk said and stopped as Jiyong’s face turned serious, then anger ran through his face. Slowly, his face turned red, his eyes disoriented, then a tear escaped his left eye, and he threw his head back, hitting the wall with it.

“!” Jiyong said, now his voice was shaking, and when he looked back at Hyunsuk, Chaerin noticed he was crying, his face red and wet, his nose too. “How?” He managed to say. Hyunsuk shook his head, then Chaerin remembered the hand on the floor she saw the day they escaped, and now the mystery was solved, it was Choi Seunghyun the one who was killed that day.

Seungri kneeled in front of Jiyong, his hand on Jiyong’s knees and looked at him, Seungri too was crying, his eyes red and small, his face flushed, but he controlled his voice more than Jiyong did. “He was trying to save you hyung, they were looking for you and…” he stopped to look at Chaerin with an expression of disdain and almost hatred. “Chaerin.” He finished. Chaerin gulped and looked at Jiyong, who was looking at his trembling hands.

“Why do you hate her so much?” Jiyong whispered and Seungri widened his eyes, so did Chaerin.

“I-I…”

“It wasn’t her fault…” He continued. Seungri remained silent, just nodded. Then he looked at Chaerin, his face soft, but his eyes still depicted the hatred he was feeling. Jiyong stood up hastily then grabbed his head; James had already grabbed his arm and helped him steady himself. Jiyong looked at him with small, red eyes and gave him a wry smile. James nodded slightly and let go of him. Chaerin slowly stood up, her knees trembling a bit, now that her body was slowly getting cold, she felt all the places where there was an injury, and every place there was hurt, a piercing agony running through her with every movement. She cursed in her mind but ignored it, looking directly at Jiyong. He gulped and rested his back on the wall, still trembling.

“Find Hyunseung and everything’s over.” Hyunsuk said and both Chaerin and Dara looked at him.

“What?” Dara asked.

“He’s the one who’s gone the bad way, not us. We stay by our rules, we allow people to go, unlike him.” He spoke.

“You made Jiyong get on this mission.” James said and he shook his head.

“It wasn’t me.” Hyunsuk said and Jiyong exhaled loudly.

“They were orders from above.” Jiyong said and Chaerin crossed her arms, more to suppress the pain than to look y.

“Even knowing your condition?” Chaerin said and Jiyong widened his eyes at her.

“What?”

“They don’t know.” Hyunsuk said, ignoring Jiyong’s sudden burst. “And to be honest, we prefer to leave it unknown. They can… evict him.” He finished and James nodded.

“It’s true, an injured soldier is death weight.” James said and Jiyong shook his head furiously.

“Who’s injured? What the are you talking about?” He said and Chaerin rolled her eyes.

“Lungs collapsing, blah blah, don’t play dumb, we know.” She said, but got interrupted when some doors busted open, and about five man wearing black suits entered the hallway, in the middle of them, one was wearing a grey suit, and Chaerin her lips as she saw who he was.

“Kikwang…” Whispered Dara and Chaerin nodded.

“Let’s cut some pig meat.” Chaerin said, pulling her dagger out of her belt. James smirked and nodded; his gun in hand. Jiyong looked at Hyunsuk, who had already two katanas on his hands and smiled, slowly grabbing his own gun.

“Let’s dance.” He said while pointing to the front.

Gily's Notes:

First of all, I have to say that I'm majoring on Medicines, lmao! About Jiyong's condition, I just invented that using some true facts. If you inhale chlorine, you may have a Pneumothorax (Air on your lungs, lungs collapsing) But here, I wanted to make it look like a condition, so... you might see haha.

I hope this would answer some questions about past chapters, keep expecting more about this, and also, keep in mind that's this is close to an end. I'm not sure how many chapters more, but it will end soon.

I hope you all love this, Wow, 100 subscribers, I'm honored!! Please don't forget to comment and subscribe, also, you may want to upvote this... hehehe...

Happy Reading ~

no with you it's always more dramatic and I LOVE IT … so dying to read the first chapter…I've seen that you've already updated it but I'm giving myself a break between Collide and Collision to let my brain process that Collide is finished …
