Determination

A Love That Never Alters

It’s been a couple of days since the incident, and she was getting better with slight cough that still lingered. Even so, she couldn’t help but to recall the incident. “Papa used to faint like that ...” she muttered quietly to herself as she stare out the window, deeply in thought not realizing that someone was behind her.

“ONNIE!!!” Sunhwa shrieked in her ears. Hyosung was so startled that she jumped a couple of feet away from her spot, her face in utter horror. Min was already rolling on the floor together with Sunhwa, who was holding on to Min for support. Fei and Jia couldn’t help but laughed along at the sight.

“THIS TWO BRATS! MICCHIESO?” Hyosung grabbed the cushion and threw at the two. “You want me to die early, is that it?” Hyosung replied as she kept on hitting them in the head, her heart still pounding crazily against her chest.

“Aniyo, we don’t want our precious onnie to be gone that early. Who’s going to entertain us then? Ai, just kidding onnie!” Min replied, as another pillow hit her face. The Miss A ladies were at the Secret’s dorm after they finished their respective practices, for their usual weekend hang out. They got very close ever since Hyosung and Min shot for Oh! My School, and they hit very well from there.

“Aigo, shush it girls. This is the best part!” Zinger squealed, while munching on nachos together with Jieun watching A Walk to Remember at the scene where Landon proposed to sick Jamie. “Ah, how romantic!” they both squealed, sniffing at the sad scene.

They spent most of the days indoor due to the cold outside, from playing Monopoly to dolling each other up to kill the time. As the time inched towards nine, Fei, Jia and Suzy excused themselves while Min stuck around for a sleepover like she always did. Min was becoming very dear to Hyosung, just how the rest of the Secret girls already were. From her childish behaviour to her matured thoughts, Min’s full of surprises once you got to know her, which put a smile on Hyosung face. Min’s like a little sister she had always wanted, in addition to her Secret sisters.

“Onnie, why are you smiling like that? Don’t scare me, oh?” Min said jokingly as she joined Hyosung lounging at the leisure hall, munching on the leftover nachos. Hyosung scooted over to give space to her, as Min lay beside her. “Onnie, have you meet Kikwang by any chance?” Min unexpectedly popped the question, still munching while staring at the ceiling. The house was already silent by now, with the Secret girls getting ready for bed.

“Ani, I haven’t. Somehow I wish I do though, you know ... just asking how he’s doing and all. Heh, I sound so desperate right?” Hyosung leaned back to the sofa, joining Min staring at the empty ceiling space. “Onnie, you’re not desperate. You’re in love, arasso? Love is the most powerful feelings in the world, unbeatable. Even Rose was still in love with Jack after all those years you know. So does Landon! True love will conquer it all! Trust me, I know that dummy enough to know that he at least still thinks about you.”

“Ya silly girl, you’re talking nonsense again. Stop comparing the situation to those fictional stories. Mine doesn’t compare to that ara?” Hyosung chuckled, messing Min’s hair as she flip through the channel. As predicted, Min fussed as she flop up and re-do her hair. She took a pillow and hit Hyosung, which then lead to a pillow fight in the living room. This girl knows just how to cheer me up, she thought as she received another whack in the head. Just then a news caught her attention.

“Lee Gi Kwang and HyunA were seen together at Seoul,” the VJ announced. “Could it be, their relationship rekindled? Let’s find out!” As the VJ continued yapping about, various pictures of them flashed about. Hyosung could feel the feelings she long ago abandoned flared up. Jealousy tug at her heart, and she tried to ignore it.

“Aigo, that wench. She’s at it again. She can’t seem to stop flirting with your Kikwang, onnie. How dare her! Wait ‘til I get my hands on her!” Min exclaimed, her hands in fist motion. Another thing about Min was, she seemed to always have the positive mind-set of Kikwang and her relationship, believing they’re meant to be and she’ll always have faith they’ll be together no matter what. Probably because she knew Kikwang even before they debuted, or perhaps she just plain hated HyunA. She can’t seem to understand both either.

“Hey, stop it. Let him be, he’s free to go out with whoever he wants. We’re no longer together, ara? Let’s be happy for him,” Hyosung elbowed Min. “And he’s not MY Kikwang. Enough, let’s go to bed. It’s late. You’ll be busy tomorrow right? Kaja.” Hyosung stood up and pull Min, who was already protesting and make her go to the bedroom. She switched off the TV and head to the kitchen to grab a glass of milk. She leaned against the freezer as she drank, her thought reeled back to Min’s words. Still thinking about me? Bulls! She gulped down the milk angrily.

She just finished washing the glass when she suddenly coughed profusely non-stop. She dropped down to the floor on her knees and doubled over, desperately trying to breath in between but something made it impossible so, and she could feel her face redden. Oh my god, not again! It hurts! It went on for a few more seconds before she could finally breathe. She stayed like that for a minute longer as the pain slowly receded and leaned back against the freezer.

Rubbing her chest in circular motion she wiped off when she noticed a smudge across her hand. A red thick smudge. Her heart skipped a beat and she immediately stood up to wash , and just as she suspected.

Blood.

She gargled over and over again until it was gone, and went off to bed acting like nothing happened. With Min sleeping beside her, Hyosung face the other side as she could feel a her fear growing.

Could this be …?

Papa? Is this happening to me too …?

On the other side of the city, a cry of pain can heard from one of the residents.

“Ah ahhh! Hyung, let go let go! Apayo!” Kikwang writhed in pain as Hyunseung grab his head in a playful headlock. They were engaged in a wrestle over the fact that Kikwang ate Hyunseung’s last piece of pepperoni pizza. “No way!” Hyunseung replied merciless, still locking his arms on Kikwang’s head who was struggling to break it but failed.

Ignoring the situation, Yoseob kept watching the TV when the news came up. Pictures of Kikwang and HyunA together flashed about on the screen, with the VJ busying herself speculating the gossips. He eyed Kikwang, who was still busy trying to free himself from Hyunseung’s powerful grip. Oh, he’s not going to like this. Better change the channel. “Oh! What’s this? Kikwang, are you guys dating again?” Doojoon exclaimed suddenly as he flop down next to Yoseob, who was about to change the channel. Dang.

Hyunseung released an out-of-breath Kikwang, who was now listening intently to the news while rubbing his sore neck. “Ah, what? Rekindled? Bulls. She made me take her along to the store. You know how she don’t understand the word “NO”. Ergh, this is annoying. She is annoying. Hyung, help me get rid of her jebal …” Kikwang said desperately to Doojoon, clearly annoyed with the situation, as he sat down next to him.

“I’ll try to talk to her, but I can’t assure you that she’ll abide to it. Chill okay?” Doojoon sighed as he patted Kikwang’s head, messing with his hair. “Anyway, have you by any chance … meet Hyosung yet? It’s been almost two weeks since we got back from Japan you know.”

“It’s not like I don’t want to. I really do. You know that …” Kikwang sighed and stared at the ceiling as he lay on the floor. “I’m just afraid she would reject me, even as a friend. I wounded her feelings by leaving without no apparent reason. I bet she hates me. Aigo, what should I do hyung …?” Kikwang was almost in tear with that thought in his mind. Hyosung, hating him. Doojoon pitied Kikwang, he went through so many hardships just to be with Hyosung, even it meant going against their manager this one time. Boy, was he in a huge trouble.

“Pabo, stop whining. You won’t know until you try. Arrasso?” Doojoon assured him, patting Kikwang on the head to console him.

“Doojoon hyung is right, hyung. You’ll never know until you try. Besides, I know Hyosung noona isn’t that type of person. You know that too, right?” Dongwoon, who was busy on the computer just now walked towards them and flop down next to Kikwang. Yoseob joined them, giving him the thumbs up. Kikwang sat up and let out a huge sigh, smiling at their concern. What will he ever do without them?

“All right, all right. I’ll try to go and see her soon. Thanks guys,” Already feeling tired of his fear of rejection, he was determined to meet her no matter what the result will be. It won’t hurt to try.

I’ll see you soon, Hyosung-ah.

Bogoshipoyo.

Chapter 36: I took a longgggg break from fanfics because life just got so busy. =P

This is my first time back and I am really happy that this is the first story I read and finished. I finished the entire story in one reading. I LOVE IT!!!

Amazing storyline. Awesome characters. Love how you satisfy your readers with the different endings. I can't decide which one I love more (I have to say I love the happy ending just because I got to read about their marriage and their kids). This is absolutely one of my favorites. Thank you for giving us a wonderful story.

Ahhh, it ended already *wipe tears* I'm sorry for not commenting lately. Couldn't get my hands on the internet. And when I could, the words vaporize from my brain since your sad ending made me overwhelmed.
What more can I say? Great, awesome story, as always. You always amazed me with your words, the way you tell your story, the flow, the angst. You left me speechless.
Did I love the alternate ending? Hell yeap!!! I got a weird flashback as I read this last chapter. Somehow, I suddenly got the urge to read your cookies story XP Yes! I prefer your sweets to your angst~~~ Hahahaha.
I actually read the last 'last' chapter a while back but didn't have time to comment. So it's only now that I am lol. so let me tell you where I was reading this ~ on my way to Uni on a bus and hell did I cry, thankfully there were not much people on the bus, cuz I was sobbing.*-* It took me a good half an hour to read it, that was the best bus ride EVER lol. Even though it was a happy ending ~ why do I feel this way, I don't want this to end, I really don't, I want to read about their daily life adventures after this .lolol. but I guess all good things come to an end. <3 ~ I enjoyed reading your story and the amount of emotions I felt during this whole process of reading is just unexplainable. I cried, laughed, smiled, jumped etc. It was truly a touching story <3 and If this could get published, I'd be the first ones to buy it ^^ lol. both endings were outstanding, but obviously for me the happy ending wins ~ ^^.
AWESOME AMAZING OUTSTANDING PERFECT story ~ thank you so much!! ~ THANK YOU. Can't wait to read more of your stories <3 ~
Kisung all the way ~ ^^
