SEHUN - or how to be part of a crew and part of a ship

Over the rainbow, second star to the right and straight on till morning
SeHun didn't know how to feel anymore. He was all kinds of confused. He was constantly scared and chased and had to hide and live under the radar. But at least he wasn't alone. He was the benjamin of his family and he was loved and taken care of. That's why he didn't know how to live alone or how to survive. He did the best he could and managed to come this far.
When the farm boy on Europe came after him with a pitchfork, he honestly thought it was the end of him. That Colonian was fast, it was a whole other level than the hunters. Weird how he was more afraid of a kid than professionals bounty hunters, but at the time it felt relevant.
SeHun also thought he met his end when the captain of the ship he was hiding in found him. But much to his surprise, the Chinese man welcomed him. This is where he was confused. He climbed on his ship clandestinely, had his true nature revealed and the blond seemed fascinated by him. He was actually letting him stay, and not as a prisoner. All his parents told him was how the world was dangerous and that bad men were after them, to hurt and kill them. But this man, this particular human was different. He was nice and warm and SeHun felt safe. A feeling he hadn't felt in a long time.

"This is your room from now on," captain LuHan said, leading SeHun into the simply decorated place. It had a bed, a closet, a desk and a mirror. A normal person could almost complain about the small size of the area but it had been so long since the multicolor-haired boy had seen or been in any cozy place, he just felt overwhelmed.

"I have my own room?" SeHun exclaimed, asking if he was allowed to use the space freely. But LuHan was a teaser.

"Why? You want to sleep with me?" He raised his eyebrows suggestively and the boy knew it was a joke but he couldn't stop himself from blushing a little. He hadn't slept with anyone other than his family. Frankly, he hadn't even shared anything with anybody else but his parents or his older brother.

"Hey, I'm just kidding, okay?" The captain laughed and patted the little alien's head. "I guess you have nothing to unpack." He looked at the pointy-eared boy from head to toe. "We have to find you some clothes."

SeHun had actually found the clothes he was currently wearing on the head hunters' ship. He thought it would be wise to change even if it was a bright red color, hoping that it would mislead them. And it matched his brother's beanie. But he had no attachment whatsoever, and was more than eager to get out of them and get cleaned.

"Why don't you take a shower, and I will go find you something to wear," LuHan led him out. "Oh, and this is my room," he pointed at the door on the left." If you have anything to ask, come by anytime," he smiled. "I'm always open."

"Tha- thank you, sir." SeHun couldn't believe how nice the man was. He felt so relieved.

"And call me captain," he chuckled. "Or LuHan ge, whichever you prefer."

"Ge?"

"It means 'big brother'. Now go take your shower, bathroom's at the end of the hall." The blond pushed him gently.

Big brother. It felt comforting and sad at the same time. SeHun wondered if his brother was still alive. But he didn't want to keep his hopes up. He shook his head and thanked LuHan ge before heading down the hall.

SeHun was standing in front of the bathroom's mirror. The white woolen sweater and black skinny jeans the Chinese captain gave him fit perfectly. How was that possible? The man was definitely smaller than him. And the other human, JunMyeon, even smaller. He didn't complain, thought. He liked how the fabric was soft against his skin and it smelled nice too. The boy giggled into his sleeves, to happy to contain himself.

"I knew it would be a perfect fit. You like them?"

SeHun jumped. The captain was leaning on the open door, smiling at the multicolor-haired boy. "There's a whole bunch more in your room's closet, you can use them freely."

"Thank you." The tall boy didn't have the courage to ask where they came from and just felt grateful.

"You hungry?" LuHan ge asked. "I bought some fresh meat for you."

SeHun raised an eyebrow at that.

"Seeing how you didn't touch anything from the storage I figured you don't eat dehydrated food," the Chinese captain explained. "It's gotta be difficult since we're on a ship, but we'll make it work," he smiled.

"I didn't know it was food," the Therianthrope said honestly.

LuHan's eyes widened and to SeHun's surprise, the blond suddenly burst into laughter.

"Living with you is gonna be fun."

When they entered the kitchen, another human SeHun hadn't seen before was there. He was small with wavy chestnut hair and had a very smiley face. He stood up as soon as the boy came in.

"Is that him?" he asked JunMyeon and the latter nodded.

"Be nice," Krystal said as she eyed the short man running to the little alien.

"Hi~ I'm JongDae!" He hugged SeHun tight and the boy honestly didn't know how to react.

"Don't harass people on my ship," LuHan grabbed JongDae by the neck of his shirt and pulled him back. "Look! You got him all confused, his eyes are grey!"

And they grew more so, with a hint of purple. So the captain knew about the eyes color and what it meant. SeHun thought it was a gift and a curse. He just had to look at his brother for him to know how he felt and what he was thinking. No need for words. But then that meant he couldn't hide his feelings from strangers either.

LuHan ge, he didn't mind, thought.

"But he's so cute!" the short chestnut-haired man protested in LuHan's arms. "I want to touch his ears!"

Krystal laughed and JunMyeon looked at SeHun as to say 'sorry' but he was also smiling.

"Can you turn into a wolf?" JongDae asked, still trying to get out of the blond's grip. "You're a Therianthrope, right! Show us!" His eyes glimmered in excitement like a child about to open a present.

"Er- I can't," SeHun said and the short man seemed disappointed. The alien boy was about to explain when LuHan cut him off.

"Stop harassing him I said!" He forcefully sat JongDae on a chair. "Just leave him be. He's been through a lot. Let him breathe."

The chestnut-haired man pouted, making SeHun wonder about his age. But he was more surprised by the captain's words. He was so nice to him. Why? It made the boy wonder about other things.

"Come have a seat," JunMyeon said, pulling the chair on his right, far from JongDae. "You must be hungry."

The rainbow-haired boy studied the scene. None of them were related, yet they looked like a family. Fighting, laughing, teasing, caring. SeHun missed his own. The thought of his parents made his eyes water. He was never going to see them again. He wasn't even able to bury them properly. He just left them there and ran. He felt hopeless and guilty and hated himself for being so weak.

"Hey. Are you okay?" The Chinese captain went to the boy and took him by the shoulder.

"Oh no, don't cry!" JongDae stood up to join them and suddenly the little alien was surrounded by four people.

SeHun felt LuHan's grip tighten around him and he laid his head in the crook of the man's neck. The past days resurfaced and the boy couldn't contain his feelings anymore. He let himself cry, he didn't care if he was loud or was letting his tears wet the captain's suit. He felt Krystal and JunMyeon caress his back in attempt to calm him and JongDae was hugging him by the waist on his left. But more importantly, LuHan's free hand landed in his multicolored hair and it gently. Nobody said a word and SeHun felt grateful for that. He didn't want to talk. It was too painful. He grabbed the back of the blond's grey suit and cried some more.

The rest of the day passed calmly. SeHun really loved how they were all so understanding. After he stopped crying, they ate and let him rest without asking him anything.

Which brought us to now.

SeHun was standing in front of LuHan's room. He couldn't sleep. He wanted to knock, but he wasn't sure. The man just let him in his home and he was nice and all, but maybe this was going over the boundaries? I mean, it was like one thirty in the morning and after crying his guts out into the man's spacesuit, he felt a little embarrassed.

He did say he could 'come by anytime', though. Right?

The rainbow-haired boy took a deep breath and finally knocked shyly on the door. And surprisingly it opened not even five seconds later.

"No JongDae, you can't- Oh it's you Sehun." The blond looked sleepy, scratching the back of his head while letting out a little yawn. "Sorry, I thought it was JongDae, coming again to ask me something stupid. What's up?"

"Er- I-" The Therianthrope's eyes turned grey, with a hint of purple.

The Chinese ge smiled at that. "You can't sleep."

SeHun lifted his head in surprise, letting they eyes meet. "How did you know ?"

LuHan chuckled and patted the boy's head. "You're cute."

And SeHun's eyes were fully purple now, red creeping on his cheeks.

"Come in," the captain invited him.

SeHun hesitantly walked in behind LuHan. Suddenly his feet seemed a really interesting subject of observation. He didn't know where to stand, what to do, where to look. This was such a bad idea.

"Hey," the Chinese man called softly. "There's nothing to be ashamed of. You were always with your family and were abruptly ripped away from them. Of course you're sad and lonely and don't want to sleep alone."

SeHun was shocked at how the blond said that as if he was stating the obvious. Well maybe it was, but the boy felt warm at the idea that the man understood him so well. He really was like a big brother.

"Come on, I wanna sleep." LuHan was already back in his bed and tapped the open space on his left.

The boy let himself smile and hurried under the covers, at his ge's side. He arranged the sheets neatly and turned his back to the captain. He was happy but still a little embarrassed to face him. The lights went off and SeHun closed his eyes when two strong arms pulled him in their embrace. He felt LuHan's steady heartbeat against his back as his arms wrapped tighter around his waist and the blond breathed in his pointy ear.

"Good night, SeHun."

The multicolor-haired boy was surprised at first but he had to admit, he missed sleeping with someone. LuHan was right. His family had always been by his side and the three days he spent on the streets of Europe and in the Ariadne's storage room, sleeping alone and uncomfortably, had been a nightmare. He was finally able to relax again. The Chinese man's arms were protective, his chest felt warm on his back and he loved his smell. SeHun was already kind of addicted to the man's grassy scent. It was like he was surrounded by nature. He felt free and it felt really nice and peaceful. He closed his eyes again and sighed in well-being.

"Good night, Luhan ge."

Chapter 23: I was looking through my bookmarks and realized I never finished commenting. I loved every single chapter. The story is really cute and creative. Captain Luhan, Krystal being awesome + ultra romantic suho, Tao the space farmboy, Sehun the cute rainbow “monster,” Big Bang cameo, and BAEKHYUN omg…and EVERYTHING really!! Your ideas are so great. I love every single character/relationship, especially the “family” dynamics of the whole ship. The cliffhanger though D=D=D=. Your art is really cute too. I wish you the best on all your projects, current and future.
