Sungmin sat on the sofa, waiting for Kangin to arrive. He twisted his hands nervously in his lap, and kept touching his stomach gently. How could he be pregnant? How would his body cope? He wanted a baby, to hold and look after, but he had no idea how his boyfriend would feel.

 

He trembled as he thought about how Kangin could react to the news. His boyfriend was always happy to play with babies, smiling when he could be with them on shows. But would he want one of his own? 

It had taken Sungmin a few hours to get used to the fact that he was a pregnant man, how long would it take Kangin?

He was just thinking about it in his head when the door opened.

 

"Minnie? Are you here? I have great news!"

"So do I."

Even though his legs were shaking, Sungmin got to his feet and went to hug his boyfriend.

"What's your news Kangin?"

"I have a radio show, isn't that cool?"

"That's great! Good for you." Sungmin smiled, Kangin had been wanting a radio show for a while, and now he had finally got one.

"What about you Min, what did you want to tell me?" 

Sungmin looked at his boyfriend's happy face, his cheerful smile, and prayed that he wouldn't react badly.

"I-I'm pregnant, Kangin."

The smile vanished.

 

"Minnie, April Fools was last week. You missed your chance."

Tears came to Min's eyes. "I mean it Kangin. I'm actually pregnant."

Seeing the tears, Kangin pulled him close and sat on the sofa with him. "Don't cry, it's okay. I'm sorry. Is the baby mine?"

Sungmin gasped. "What are you saying? That I cheated?!"

"No no no! I'm just a little surprised, that's all. I'm not accusing you of anything. Oh Min.." He looked at his boyfriend with tears in his own eyes. "Your news is much better than mine. Can-can I see the baby?"

"There aren't any pictures, I'm not that far into the pregnancy yet. I just had a test at the doctors." As Min looked into Kangin's eyes, he wondered how he could have ever been scared to tell him about the pregnancy. He had never seen the older boy so happy before, he was smiling widely and tears of happiness were in his eyes. He couldn't stop touching Min's stomach, and kissing him gently.

 

"Am I hurting you?"

"No, you're being so gentle. You couldn't hurt me."

"Tell me if it hurts, and I'll stop right away." But Sungmin wouldn't say stop. He felt the gentle circles that Kangin was tracing onto his stomach, and heard the gentle lullaby that the older boy was humming. His eyes slowly drifted shut, and he slept in Kangin's arms.

 

When he next awoke, he felt Kangin's arms around him gently, and heard soft voices talking. 

"And that's wonderful news Kangin. Well done on your radio show. You must be happy."

"I am Wook, it's great to have my own show. I wanted to call it 'The Kangin Show' but they said that was silly." As Kangin felt Sungmin move in his arms, he smiled at him.

"Are you awake Minnie?" When the boy nodded, he whispered in his ear. "I haven't told Ryeowook about the baby. I thought we should do it together, are you ready now?"

Feeling grateful that Kangin wanted to share the news together, and knowing how much willpower it must have taken the boy to keep the secret, to not shout it to the world, he nodded.

"Ryeowook, we have something to tell you. Have a seat."

The boy sat down happily, his smile bright. 

"Sungmin's pregnant!"

Ryeowook looked confused. "But you're a guy.. How does that even happen?"

"Is it weird Wook?"

"It's strange, but not weird. You'll be lovely parents. Can I be an uncle?"

Kangin laughed. "Of course you can. Everyone can be an uncle."

Ryeowook giggled, his smile bright as he looked at Min. "How do you feel about it Sungmin?"

"I'm a little nervous, but I'm excited."

"You'll support each other, I know it'll work out. And I know that everyone else will be more than happy to help take care of the baby. I wonder if you'll ever be able to get Eunhyuk away from the baby."

 

Sure enough, Eunhyuk was delighted by the news. 

"Aww can I play with the baby when it's born?"

"Of course you can. You can play with the baby when we're both too tired."

"I'll tire you out on purpose then."

Kangin laughed gently, happy at the enthusiasm.

 

"You're what?!" Siwon stood up immediately, hitting his head on a shelf.

"Careful Siwon, you've hurt yourself."

"You're the ones who should be being careful! A baby is a lot of work!"

"Won't you help us Siwon?" Sungmin pouted gently with big puppy eyes to win the religious boy over.

"I'll definitely help you both, don't worry about that. But a pregnant man will take some time to get used to..." He sat quietly for a bit, unsure whether it was the strange news or the shelf that was causing him a headache.

Leeteuk was the same, thoroughly confused about how Sungmin could be pregnant.

 

"I don't know Leeteuk."

"But how could it have happened Sungmin? Were you male since birth?"

Sungmin nodded. "Yes. I guess male pregnancy just happens sometimes.."

Unsatisfied with the answer, the leader took to the internet to find a suitable answer to his confusion.

 

Sungmin looked at Kangin, and they both shared a laugh together as they realised how much confusion and excitement they had created in the group. Kangin leaned down to press a kiss to Sungmin's lips. The kiss was gentle, but as it got more heated, they both felt a hand on their shoulders.

"You can stop there" Siwon said firmly. "One baby is more than enough."

 

And as Sungmin nuzzled into Kangin, worrying about the next nine months of tiredness and discomfort, he had to agree.
