Welcome Home

You Are My Brother

Chapter 1 - Welcome Home

Junsu was reading the papers in his desk, when his secretary called him through the company phone.

"Yes?"

"President Kim, you will have a meeting with Mr. Baekhun from Ranch Company in an hour."

"Okay, thank you."

Tut. Junsu put the receiver back on its place and continued reading. Within 3 minutes, he sighed in frustation and put down his ballpoint. He couldn't stand to sit more than one hour, yet, his new activity had forced him to do so. His job currently changed from a legendary singer to the president of Star Group which was one of the bigest in South Korea. What an interesting part of his life.

He had been busy from this morning. No, actually since a month ago when he started replacing his father's position in their family company. His father was hospitalized in Seoul Hospital due to heart attack and was currently in a comma. As the worst result, he knew he had no choice as the oldest son other than took over the company.

Junsu sighed. Having work like this, made him couldn’t live his old life. He had to being used as a president life. One of the most unfortunate thing for him was that he didn't even have time for working in entertainment world that he had been doing it for the past 9 years. It had been three weeks since he refused all the variety show offer. He only accepted music show offer, only which could match with his working time in the company. Well he was forced to limit his entertainment jobs if he wanted to still be alive for next year. Working as a president in his company had been tiring itself. No need to be added with entertainment jobs.

Tok tok tok!!! Someone knocked the door gently and the door was opened. It was Kim Taeyeon, his secretary. She was ten years older than him. Since she had been seeing him in the last 8 years when she started assisting his father, she was close to him. So it wasn't a big deal for her to help him studying the company since they already knew each other.

“Junsu-sshi, you need to go now for the meeting in the Empire Palace Hotel. Your assistant will be here in a minute.”

Junsu glanced at his watch. He didn't realize that he spent half hour for his short rest just now.

Then he stood up and stretched his body. He didn’t have a properly sleep these days, except in the plane, and now his face looked a bit pale. But no one will notice it anyway since he had a milky white skin that made people called him an angel. They said that his appearance and his personality was like an angel, a pure angel that coming from heaven. But that’s a pity that that boy didn’t see him like that in any way. Even that boy always saw him as an evil.

“Are you okay, Junsu-sshi? You look tired." Taeyeon stared at Junsu with sympathy look.

“Ah, it's not like that, just need a little sleep, I'll be fine. Thanks for asking anyway.” Junsu smiled widely.

However, Taeyeon found that cute. She chuckled and then left to her own desk, outside the room. Just then Junsu’s personal assistant came. Taeyeon stopped him before he came in to the boss’s room.

“Hyukjae-sshi, you better told your boss to get some rest. He looked tired. He had been working all the time in the whole week. He should get rest since the company already in a stable state.” Taeyeon said.

Hyukjae nodded and then he passed to the president office room. He saw the younger man was lying on the couch, waiting for him.

“Hey, how are you? Feeling tired?” Hyukjae greeted as he took a glass of water and gave them to the man. And then he sat down beside him. “You need rest, Junsu.”

“Yeah, I will… but after this. This meeting is important, right? I should be there,” Junsu insisted as he checked his suit. He knew how much his assitant cared for him. They were childhood friends anyway.

“I can represent you. You looked pale. I don’t want you to be exhausted. You will collapse if you keep working like this.” Hyukjae knew Junsu very well. The younger boy wouldn't leave his responsibility that easy. "You had been overseas many times this week. Now is your time to rest."

“I promise I’ll rest more after this meeting. No need to worry, I’m fine. I’m tougher than you know, don’t I?” Junsu laughed at his annoyed face’s friend.

Junsu stood up and was ready to go. “You’re coming or not? I’ll leave now.”

“Of course I’ll come,” Hyukjae answered as he slowly stood up. “Wait for me!”

“Come on… You’re slow like turtle!” Junsu began to walk and left the room. They were always like this since little, teasing each other. It was always fun for them.

“Taeyeon-sshi, I’ll leave now.” Junsu said to Taeyeon as he passed her desk. Then he headed toward the elevator with Hyukjae followed behind.

“Good afternoon, President Kim.” The officers, who passed or waited like him, greeted him. Junsu nodded as he smiled lightly.

While he was waiting the elevator on his company, his cell phone rang loudly. He frowned after he saw the unknown number in the screen. But he ended up answering the call anyway.

“Yoboseyo?"

"Oh, Ki Bum-sshi… Why do you call? Something happened?”

“WHAT?! How could…? What they want? I told you to watch over him, didn’t I? That’s what I mean all the time!” Junsu shouted at the phone. He looked worried and angry at the same time.

Hyukjae startled. Junsu would be like that if something bad had happened and now he was wondering the reason. Everyone around them started to watch him. His kind and lovely boss shouted on the phone and looked so miserable. Something must have gone wrong.

Junsu took a deep breath. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. Just take care of him. Please take care of him. I’ll be there as soon as possible... Tonight, maybe. Okay, thank you.”

Junsu disconnect the line. He rubbed his temple as he stared at his assistant. “Book me an airplane ticket to New York as soon as possible. I need to go there.”

“Sure. But why?” Hyukjae asked.

“Changmin hit his friend again and this time his friend won’t let him go.” Junsu approached Hyukjae and whispered. “Now he is in prison unless his family picks him up.”

Hyukjae froze. Is it that bad? That explained everything as well.

“Oh God, what’s wrong with him?” Junsu sighed and scratched his head desperately. “Why does he always fight with his friends?”

Hyukjae could see in the eyes that the younger man worried his brother very much. “He’ll be fine, Junsu-yah.”

“Thanks. “ Junsu said as he smiled bitterly.

“You don’t have to attend the meeting. I’ll handle it. Just rests before you go there,” Hyukjae patted Junsu’s shoulder.

“Thank you, Hyukjae-yah. I’ll be home, then.” Junsu came in to the elevator, leaving Hyukjae who still stood there in silence. He must go to the secretary first before he went out of the office. He needed to tell her to book an airplane ticket this evening.

“Poor, President Kim. He has to take care of his naughty brother alone…” The officers around him whispered.

“Even he has to think about the sick president.”

“All of you better back to work. Now.” Hyukjae said loud and clear to the officer around him which made them imediately acted pro as nothing happened.

Hyukjae sighed heavily as he walked to the secretary. “I hope everything turned out to be easier for you, Junsu-yah…”

“How is his condition, doc?” Junsu asked on his phone. He was still on the plane. The plane just landed safely in the Incheon airport.

“Good then. Keep telling me about his progress. Okay, thank you.” Junsu closed the line and put the cell phone on his pocket. He stared outside the window.

I hope you will get better soon, Dad.

The female flight stewardess approached him and told him that he allowed to go down now. He stood up and followed by a younger boy beside him. The younger boy spruced his hat and the mask just before he got out of the plane. There were some bodyguards waiting outside the plane. The bodyguards supposed to guarding both of their masters and taking them to the car safely.

“Junsu-sshi, why does your brother back to this country this time? What’s happened there? Why… How…,” There were many reporters waiting for both of them to arrive, wanting to interview about the comeback of the youngest to his own country after years live abroad. Yeah, the youngest that never care about everything even when his father was sick.

There was a long silence in the car. Junsu just looked away out of the window. They would go to the office first to drop off Junsu, and then go home. Junsu had some business to take care of before he went home.

The younger boy opened the mask. It was uncomfortable using something that covered more than half of his face. There was a purple bruise on his left cheek and there was a wound in the corner of his lips. In conclusion, he looked like .

“Changmin-ah, s it still hurt?” Junsu asked, breaking the silence.

"Huh?" Changmin stared at his brother dumbfoundedly. Is he talking to me?

Junsu turned his head to Changmin. "Your face... is it still hurt?"

“Of course it is." Changmin answered coldly. "It’s none of your business, by the way.”

“Why did you hit him? You didn’t answer me yet,” Junsu stared at him with questioning look.

“Why should I? You wouldn’t believe me, anyway.” Changmin said rudely as usual. Junsu had used to face his super cold mysterious annoyingly brother.

"You never try...," Junsu whispered as he looked away out of the window. Changmin heard it, but he was still silent.

Junsu didn’t know what to say. Every question he asked wouldn’t have the proper answer from the younger's mouth. Everything he said would be cut off by him rudely. So instead having an annoyingly feeling, he chose to keep silence. They were always like that.

It had been twenty one years since they lived together. But he still admitted that his brother was so mysterious. He knew what his brother would do or how will his reaction was, but he still didn’t know what his brother felt, what his brother thought, and what his brother did really want.

Junsu didn’t actually know since the past ten years. There was no more his cute and lovely brother who always played the games together, going somewhere together, and others. There was no more his sweet brother. His brother had changed to be a naughty and selfish boy, a boy who always annoyed and pissed him off. Junsu didn’t know why. It was the biggest question he remarked, yet, he never knew the answer.

“I don’t want to live here. I want back to New York.” Changmin said, distracting Junsu from his own mind. Changmin had argued with Junsu about this since he met Junsu few days ago and that time, Junsu forced Changmin to come with him to South Korea.

“No, you’re not.” Junsu said clearly as he stared at his brother. “Stay here... please.”

Changmin looked away. He didn’t like being told by someone even it was his own brother. He didn’t know how, but he was pretty sure that his brother wouldn’t let him back.

“I can take care of you more if you’re here. Come on, why you don’t like to be here? It’s nice, isn’t it? I’ll transfer you to the Seoul University. You’ll be study in the best college in this country." Junsu persuaded the younger. "Come on, it will be great, Changmin-ah.”

“Whatever." Changmin sighed annoyingly and stared at the other's eyes. "But in one condition, I didn't want someone following me like a duck. I won't guarantee his safety, if that Ki Bum bastard or whoever it will be follow me everywhere.”

Junsu smirked in victory. "Fine. As you wish, you'll free from anyone here."

"I'll have your word, hyung." Changmin said coldly. "I'll be here... for now."

"Then, welcome home." Junsu couldn't help but smiled widely. He knew that he won again over Changmin. Changmin did look like he didn’t accept it, but once again, Junsu knew him very well. Changmin definitely would live here again with him.

Half hour later, the car had stopped in front of the main entrance of the company. Junsu brought his bag and opened the door.

“Ahjussi, please make sure that he’ll be going home.” Junsu told the driver.

The driver bowed his head. “Sure, Young Master.”

Junsu got out of the car and just before he closed the door, he turned his head to Changmin. “Visit him, Changmin-ah… He will like it. And be careful!”

Junsu closed the door and then the car went away. He watched the car until disappeared in the crossroad. He smiled bitterly. He knew the boy heard him clearly. But for this once, he didn’t know what the younger would do.
