Angels

Family? You & Me

"천사 같은 너"

Daehyun hummed, marking off the calender.
1,459 days until his bride came back to him.

"We have a comeback today!"
Himchan hollered, waking all the sleeping members.

"It's 4 in the morning! Aish!"
Joonhong's lazy groans came from his room, but they could hear him run to wash up excitedly.

"How are you feeling today, Daehyun-ssi? Ready to start promotions?"
Youngjae hopped up, pretending to point a microphone at him.

Youngjae frowned when Daehyun only gave him a half-hearted smile.

"Yah."
Youngjae spoke, his voice lowered.
"Both of my sisters are on that plane, not just your wife."
He pouted, reminding Daehyun that he wasn't the only one having to wait.
"For the sake of them, we have to get back on the game like never before. Arasseo? They want to see how well we're doing, and I'm sure my little sister wouldn't want to come back to a wimpy, sad husband whining like a puppy."
Youngjae playfully mocked.

"Mah!* (yah/ hey [you] in Boosan dialect)"
Daehyun's depression slowly melted away.
"You think I'm a sad wimpy boy? I'll show them who Jung Daehyun is!"
He cheerfully grinned, and Youngjae knew he had his giddy best friend back.

"Let's do this."
Daehyun stated, and walked out the room like a man with his ring on.
The item kept him sane most of the time.

B.A.P's comeback performance was anticipated by many, and Daehyun knew better than to sulk around and show them a disappointing performace.
For in the midst of the crowd, there was Jinhee, supporting him on.

*I love you, Oppa*
He could hear her giggle shyly.

"Yeah I love you too."
He whispered, closing his eyes and picturing her smile.

"Ready?"
Yongguk spoke to s as he did a head count.

"We're-!"
Himchan started.

"B! A! P! YESSIR!"
They all chanted.

B.A.P was back in the game, and nothing was holding them back.

>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<

Jihye was sound asleep like the rest of the passengers on board.

But Jinhee couldn't fall asleep.
She tossed and turned, unable to find comfort.

"Aish."
She hissed, hating her uneasiness in public places.
Why couldn't she sleep properly on a plane like a normal person?

"Baby steps."
She spoke, trying to calm herself.

She knew she had to use her cheat sheet.
Jinhee grabbed her phone, which was on 'Airplane Mode', and plugged in her earphone.

*I'll have to use this for now, at least until I can get used to new things.*
Jinhee told herself, and plugged in the earbuds, pressing play.

"I know it ain't easy, for the two of us, that's right man, but you know what? Sup, Sometimes, I don't care what people say, things are going crazy all the times you know, I got no choice let me just do this for love"

The song started with Yongguk's romantic deep tone, and Daehyun's harmonizing calmed Jinhee down.

She felt her happy consciousness drift into sleep by the second chorus.

"아무도 몰래 사랑해, 아무도 몰래 생각해, 세상에 너와 나만 알고 있는 사랑~"

[ No one else knows I love you
I think about you secretly
Love that only you and I know
In this world~]
{ trans used from M.Y&M, again. LOL }

I slipped into a blissful sleep as Daehyun oppa finished, his voice caressing each note.

"아무도 몰라도 돼, 너 하나, 너만 있으면 살아."
[ Nobody has to know just only you, I can live because of you ]

>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<

"Wake up!"
Jihye's voice entered Jinhee's consciousness, and Jinhee was welcomed with the sight of the light blue stretch of day hurriedly being sliced by the airplane wing.

"We're landing in a few, and B.A.P released their new album at midnight."
Jihye informed, reminding Jinhee of her husband's whereabouts.

"I know Unnie. Can't believe I have to wait until we land to watch the music video."
Jinhee pouted, but knew that waiting a few minutes won't be anything compared to four years.

The two sisters had a long day ahead of them-
It wasn't just being here, but the fact that they were starting new lives is going to change them in many ways.
After meeting with their Uncle, it was up to them to choose new paths.

"Attention Passengers, we will land in 40 minutes. Please remember to pack your carry-on belongings, and attendants will be available to assist you after landing. We hope you had an enjoyable flight with us."
She announced, and Jihye unnie started to grab her things.

"Good thing we travelled light."
She laughed-
Jihye was very well aware of business trips and its heavy, important carry-ons.

By the time they were all set to go, the plane landed smoothly on Detroit grounds, and Jinhee let out a breath.
She was far out of Mrs.Jung's range, at least for now.

"Thank you for flying with us. Have a safe stay!"
The attendant signed off, and Jihye and Jinhee let out a laugh-
Hopefully they would have a safe stay.

Jinhee pulled up her hoodie and hid behind Jihye as they walked out of the plain and stepped out into the marble-floored airport.

There were happy banners, signs,
Valentine hearts being waved as the passengers came out one by one.

"Psst- over here!"
They heard a loud whisper, followed by a hearty chuckle.

"How are my pretty nieces doing?"
Uncle Ji's grin welcomed them, and Jinhee knew that she was safe.

The rest of the day went in a blur, thankfully, due to Uncle Ji's tours and introductions of people and places.

The two sisters met Luke, Melissa, Mrs.Jane, and Sora, who all helped out at the Bakery.

After their mini tour of the surroundings and locations, Sora and Melissa taught the girls how to bake some of the bread and pastries-

Melissa's half-Korean background and same age helped Jinhee create a fun relationship with the outgoing highschool senior, and Jihye had no problem talking business with the law school student Sora.
Luke, who's Melissa's twin brother, was the quiet type, but he would smile here and there in the conversation, his naturally-flipped hair covering most of his blue eyes which illuminated his Asian-tanned skin.

It helped Jinhee forget about a lot of things, including what seemed like infinity of time until she could see Daehyun again.

Now they were staying at Uncle Ji's apartment near his bakery, slowly unpacking in their own cozy rooms.

Jinhee brushed her small hand over the promising treasure wrapped around her ring finger.

Jihye brushed the cold screen of her phone, biting her lips as she wondered how to create a kattalk conversation with Kim Himchan.

By now it was late nightfall, and they were getting read for bed.

*knock knock*

Jihye turned her head slowly as she watched Jinhee come in her room with her laptop in her hand, a smile pushing her cheeks to their limits.

Soon the two fangirls were excitedly staring at the screen for countless times, replaying the music video again.
Replaying Jongup's graceful dances again.
Replaying Zelo's mature rap again.
Replaying Yongguk's deep, romantic voice again.
Replaying, Youngjae, their brother's soft melodies.
Replaying Himchan's dangerously attractive acting again.
And finally, replaying Daehyun's beautifully rich yet subtle vocals.

Jinhee listened to the lyrics more than looking at their faces.

"어디론가 나를 떠나버린 천사 같은 너.
[To somewhere you left me standing here, you're like an angel]
I need you.
  어떻게 사는지 난 모르겠어
[I don't know how I'm living anymore]
니가 떠난 이후로 미치겠어
[After you left me for good, I'm going crazy]
Everyday, Everynight
잠도 잘 오질 않아
[I can't sleep so easily]
홀로 남아 술로나마 Cry
[Alone I'm with alchohol alone cry]

So I miss you (널 생각해)
[So I miss you ( I think of you)]
and I need you (난 Everyday)
[and I need you (My everyday)]
아직도 니 목소리가 들려
[I can still hear your voice clearly]
돌아와줘 (난 너밖에)
[Come back to me (You're the only one)]
내 곁으로 (없다는 게)
[Stay by my side (it's only you)]

천사 같은 너
[You're like an angel]

내가 살아가는 이유는 너야
[The reason I live for is you]
다신 못 볼 것 같아 정말 죽을 것 같아
[I can't see you anymore, I can't live like this no more]
나를 사랑해줄 사람은 너야
[The only one to love me is you]
어둠 속에서 나를 비춰줘
[Light the darkness and lead me to you]
Look at me now
Come to me now
(다시 내게 돌아와 어떻게 살아가니 난)
[Come back to me now how can I live without you, how]
Look at me now
Come to me now
(매일 니가 없이 난 어떻게 살아가니 난)
[Without you everyday how can I live without you now]

니가 정말 날 떠날 줄은 몰랐지
[I  didn't know you'd actually leave me like this]
넌 마치 천사 같았어 나 왜 이리 못났지
[You were like an angel, why am I so foolish]
Oh no 이젠 넌 날 외면하고
[Oh no now you're ignoring me]
난 널 잃어버린 바보
[I'm the fool that lost you]
거지같은 꼬라지
[ Ragged, I can't go on]
너 없인 아무것도 못하지
[I can't do anything without you]

So I miss you (널 생각해)
[ So I miss you ( I think of you) ]
and I need you (난 Everyday)
[ and I need you ( My Everyday) ]
망가진 내 모습이 초라해
[ My broken features are pitiful]
날 안아줘  (난 너밖에)
[ in your arms ( you're the only one) ]
날 감싸줘 (없다는 게)
[ hold me to you ( it's only you) ]

천사 같은 너
[ You're like an angel ]

내가 살아가는 이유는 너야
[The reason I live for is you]
다신 못 볼 것 같아 정말 죽을 것 같아
[I can't see you anymore, I can't live like this no more]
나를 사랑해줄 사람은 너야
[The only one to love me is you]
어둠 속에서 나를 비춰줘
[ Light the darkness and lead me to you ]

정신 나간 듯 해 난 멍 때려 everyday
[ I think I'm out of my mind ,I blank out like everyday ]
니가 떠나고 난 망가졌어
[ when you left me,I shattered down ]
돌아와줘 너뿐이었어
[ Come back to me, it's always been you]
어서 날 구해줘
[ Please save me from this now]
멈춰 제발 내 곁에서
[Stop, please stay by my side ]
멀어지지마 (떨어지지마)
[Don't go away, don't fall away ]
Never let you go

너를 찾고 싶어
[I want to find you now]
어디로 어디로 어디로 어디로 가
[ Where can I, How can I, Where are you, Where do I go? ** or just where do I x4]
니가 있는 그 곳
[where you are, lead me there]
A better day A better day A better day

천사 같은 너
[You're like an angel]

내가 살아가는 이유는 너야
[The reason I live for is you]
다신 못 볼 것 같아 정말 죽을 것 같아
[I can't see you anymore, I can't live like this no more]
나를 사랑해줄 사람은 너야
[The only one to love me is you]
어둠 속에서 나를 비춰줘
[ Light the darkness and lead me to you ]

Look at me now
Come to me now
(다시 내게 돌아와 어떻게 살아가니 난)
[Come back to me now how can I live without you, how]
Look at me now
Come to me now
(매일 니가 없이 난 어떻게 살아가니 난)
[Without you everyday, how can I live without you now]

Jinhee held in a tear as she saw Daehyun's indirect message for her.
His eyes were glossy with tears, and whether from it was acting or not, Daehyun was thinking about her.
She could tell by the way he raised his hand to his eye-level and stared at the metal ring on his finger rather than the hourglass he was caressing.

Jihye just gawked at Himchan as he shot himself in the video.
It didn't mean anything for her, unless it meant Himchan killed his old self and cried because either way, she wasn't there.

Crazy fangirl assumptions were never wrong.

"All right Jinhee. Pack it up. We got another big day tomorrow."
Jihye yawned, pretending like the music video didn't mean anything for her.

"But Unnie! Wasn't that amazing?"
Jinhee giddily slammed down the laptop cover, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
She was probably the only BABY out there who could honestly, and truly say - that's my husband.

"Eh- I thought they would do their first official album on justice and their badass image, further motioning it out into a mature level instead of the whole 'warrior' image. They did go for mature, but their theme was a little soft for them."
Jihye critically spoke, pulling up the covers.

"Aish. Fine. Whatever unnie. Hope Himchan oppa shoots his real self in your dream. Then you'll beg on your knees and see how real and amazing that song was."
Jinhee threw a taunting scowl at her older sister as she left before Jihye could reply in defiance.

Jihye heard the door close, and she grudgingly buried herself deeper into the innocent pillow.
Himchan's fierce eyes felt like it was watching her for some ing reason.
The actress in the music video didn't even bother her.
The only thing that kept replaying in Jihye's mind was Himchan's husky voice demanding the girl to come back.

She curled into a ball and wrapped herself in the blankets, trying her best to go to sleep when she knew Himchan had won this game.

In the other room, Jinhee was replaying the video on repeat.

This is a recent recording of Daehyun's voice, and she could hear his breathing, his calming tone-
It was like a love lullaby to her.

"I miss you"
Jinhee sung along.
"And I need you."
Her lids slowly dropped.

"천사 같은 너"
She sighed, and that was the last phrase uttered by Jung Jinhee before she fell asleep.

>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<

Two weeks into 1004 promotions.
B.A.P was up and flying.

Daehyun's calender was now shortening its countdown, and Joonhong's fan gifts were piling up in his room.
Apparently he shook many Noona fan's hearts.

Youngjae was grinning at the computer screen, proud of his friend.

"What are you doing hyung? Don't we have something to do?"
Jongup scratched his head as he tiredly yet happily asked Youngjae.

"Looks like we got competition."
Youngjae smirked.
"Not by much though. They still have to catch up."
He added.

"Who?"
Yongguk was now interested as he came by, holding one sneaker and wearing the other.

"Bangtan's having a comeback."
Youngjae grinned.
"Let's see if Hoseok can catch up to me."
He glanced at their teaser pictures-  obviously they're going for the bad boy look.
Their maknae was a year younger than Zelo, and their group is solely focused on hip-hop.
It seemed like they found a nice placd where to stand and catch the tide.
Hoseok, or J-Hope as he is called now, was Youngjae's future label-mate when they were in their trainee years at JYP Entertainment.
[ Fact - they were both JYP, but they dropped out. Think about it. Youngjae and J-Hope in Got7? I don't think so. ]

"You ready? I wanna beat Hoseok's ."
Youngjae playfully smacked his fist into his palm, standing up with newfound energy.

Bangtan's release was in the 12th, so they were going to cross each other sometime soon.

Ever since Hoseok and Youngjae seperated into their own paths of dreams- J-Hope wanting to rap and Youngjae wanting to sing R&B, they had many friendly fights consisting of J-Hope's critical view of petty K-Pop fake idols and Youngjae's cynical view of rap, which he believed couldn't be considered music alone.

"Bangtan? What are they, from North Korea? What's up with that name?"
Himchan complained as he threw on a shirt and leaned over to look at the computer screen.

Jongup shrugged in response, and B.A.P's promotion days went on like clockwork.
The usually efficient way.

Daehyun was in his room with his headphones covering his senses, busy practicing his own melodies and high notes, trying to make every practice better than the one before.
Even though they were two weeks into promotions, it didn't mean practice was over.
He wanted to perfect every performace, especially since she was watching.
Yes, she, his Jinhee.

He looked at the time -

10:04 AM.

He had a good feeling about the promotions as the song '1004' came through ever so lovingly from his shuffle playlist.

"1004. Saranghae. Off to work!"
Daehyun sent the kattok, hoping she wasn't busy.
Living a hidden life was hard enough, especially when she was dating a celebiritiy.

"It's 8pm here oppa. You're so cheesy. Hwaiitinng! Saranghaeyo~"
Jinhee's reply came as quickly as he sent it.

He loved her so much.
He missed her so much.

"Hyung! Ready to go?"
Zelo came through the door frame, calling out to the dreamy Daehyun.

"Uh yeah! Let's go!"
Daehyun quickly stood up, sliding his headphones around his neck.

B.A.P left their dorm, ready to own stages after stages.

>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<

Time flew by, two lovers were across worlds, and B.A.P was their high moment of fame.
The idol group was now sweeping 1st places at Musicbank, Inkigayo, and of course in the hearts of their BABYz.

Two sisters in Detroit smiled proudly at the performing artists as they owned the stage, each video of B.A.P cuts showing their high-quality smiles as they won and won again.

Daehyun was busy, so Jinhee refrained herself from contacting him via phone calls and kattok, especially since the time change allowed him to talk to her freely when she was most likely asleep, or vise versa.

The two girls were watching the Bakery, skimming through college application forms.
"The obvious choice would be MSU. They have Ivy League opportunities."
Jihye suggested, veering away from Detroit.
Staying here with Uncle Ji would do nothing for Jinhee but only add on to her worries and pressures of Mrs.Jung.

"I don't know if I should looking for colleges out here yet, Unnie. For all I know, we might have to move away from Uncle Ji for his safety."
Jinhee sighed, running her hand across brochures after brochures.

"The moment they know you're Jung Minhee of Jung Industries, they will be begging for you."
Jihye laughed, reminding her of the good ole' days filled with business conferences and career discussions on how to change the world.

"I'm glad those days are over. I always knew I wasn't meant to sit down in expensive leather chairs and nod to whatever they say. I didn't even have the upper hand in a single project idea or discussion topic."
Jinhee smiled as she felt the freedom from her forced duties.

"What do you want to do now?"
Jihye leaned forward on the cashier desk, pushing away the application forms and brochures away.

"I want to talk to people. Real people. Let them see themselves as who they are. Maybe a nurse? I'd at teaching, and a psychiatrist is a slim chance."
Jinhee thought, tapping her chin as she swam through all of the possibilities.

"So you wanna major in communications and possibly culture?"
Jihye asked.

"I think I'll like it."
Jinhee replied with a smile.

The bakery door opened, and at 11AM sharp, Luke came in for his shift.

"Ahnyeong."
He gave the girls a smile, and headed in to check with Mrs.Jane.

"I think it's cool that they're mixed."
Jinhee commented.
Luke and his twin Melissa both had hazel eyes, a beautiful result of their Caucasian dad and Asian mom, but one of Luke's eyes were more brown with a bright splash spot of blue clashing in his iris.
They were the prettiest colored eyes she ever saw.

The lunch rush was starting to come in, so Jihye excused herself from the college discussion and told Jinhee not to worry about it.

Then Jinhee remembered as Luke came out of the back kitchen.

"Yah! Luke!"
Jinhee called out, motioning him to the brochures.
"Suggest me a college?"
Jinhee grinned playfully at his shy nature.

Luke glanced at Jinhee dubiously and carefully under his light brown bangs, and he tapped gently at a brochure.

"Melissa and I go to MSU."
He stated shortly.

Jinhee understood what he meant.
Since Jinhee's a foreigner and Melissa is a (recent) friend of hers, she'll adapt easier, and MSU is an obvious choice as long as your grades can support it financially.

"You're on full scholarship?"
Jinhee asked, interested in knowing more about the education system of commoners.

Luke nodded.
"I'm on full, 'lissa's on half."

"How did you guys get different scholarships?"
Jinhee asked further, already assuming why Melissa recieved half.

"Umma told me I can play in my band if I got that full scholarship. My Dad loves 'lissa so she didn't study much."
Luke replied, a small smile now visible under the curtain of his bangs.

"Yeah I can see Melissa doing exactly that."
Jinhee laughed, closing the brochures and looking at the suddenly crowded line.

"There's also Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant or even Eastern MU in Ypsilanti away from here, but Wayne State Uni's cool  if you're interested in staying near."
Luke also added as he threw on his work apron and prepared himself to go into the kitchen to get the lunch-fresh batches.

Jinhee gave him a thumbs up and mouthed a quick 'thanks' before turning to face the long row of drink orders she had to tackle.

She would love to stay here with Uncle Ji and work comfortably, but comfortable was not a guarantee in her life right now, nor was it anyone's as long as she was near them.
She didn't want to hurt anyone special to her.
There were only a few handful of them left.

She placed the two filled containers into the blending machine, ready to pop out frappés to its need.

Could she risk staying here?
Should she go?

Just when Jinhee thought she was done answering the hard questions in her life, more soon followed.

>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<•>>>•<<<

"You know I'll beat you. Don't get so smug, jjasha."

Youngjae threw a playful smirk at the person leaning on the dressing room door frame.

"Hoseok-ah"
Youngjae grinned, and the two friends welcomed each other with a signature brief pat on the back.

"Arasseo. No need to hug me so tight- sheesh."
J-Hope pretended to be in stressed pain, rolling his shoulders and all.

"It's good to see you."
Youngjae joked, sliding up the MusicBank 1st place win trophy up to their view.

"You have a stable fanbase over two years. Our Armys are growing day by day."
Hoseok grinned, undeterred by the trophy. BTS could always win more from now on, right?

"Whatever jjashik. How's your family doing?"
Youngjae asked, catching up with his friend.

"Youngjae we gotta go-"
Daehyun rushed into the dressing room to fetch his bandmate when he saw Youngjae interacting with another idol friend.

"Ah- that's Daehyun hyung, right?"
Hoseok nodded towards Daehyun, smiling in a friendly way.
His Gwangju satoori brought down the professional wall of careers and Hoseok practically shoved his hand out in that boy-ish comfort.

"내 대현이라. 니 누꼬?"
( "I'm Daehyun. You are?" - in Busan satoori.)
Daehyun's childish grin surfaced.

"광주 호석인디 워메 형님 목소리 연십 많이 하능마요. 듣기 좋던데."
(I'm Hoseok from Gwangju, woah bro you must practice your voice a lot. You sounded good. - Gwangju satoori.)
Hoseok grinned right away.

"Alright you country bums. No need to use formalities with Daehyun Hoseok-ah. We're only what, 7-8 months apart?"
Youngjae chuckled, patting Hoseok on the back.

"Arasseoyo Youngjae-ssi."
Hoseok cleared his throat and spoke in Seoul standard formalities, bringing them back to the fact that they were all required to speak more standard Seoul than their home dialects.

"Sshi- whatever. See you later."
Youngjae grinned at his friend as he exited the door.

"Nice meeting you."
Daehyun nodded, and left along with Youngjae.

Hoseok gave them a friendly wave as they left, but the bitterness was still heavy his lips.

Funny how Youngjae was asking how Hoseok's family was doing when his own was in pieces.

"Hyung. Let's go?"
Jimin rushed by, pausing as he spotted his hyung.

"워따~ 시방 깔게."
(I got you- I'll be/go there soon)
Hoseok replied, looking around the place for no reason at all.

Jimin nodded and ran off, and Hoseok leisurely followed right behind his bandmate.

Youngjae and he both promised that they'll make it big so that they won't ever regret coming out of JYP.

Seems like they fulfilled their promise now.
