“I know there’s something you’re not telling me Lynn…”

 

“Me? Urm… No, no why would you say that?” She turned around and was no longer facing me. She pretended to clean the table in front of her.

 

“Lynn…” She sighed and stopped cleaning the table. She stood there for a few seconds before she turned to me.

 

“Look, Kiseop. The relationship between Taemin and Haera isn’t something for me to tell you about. If you really wanna know go ask her yourself, okay? I can’t break a promise I made years ago” She went into the employee lounge preventing me from asking any further. ‘Promise’? What is she talking about?

 

Kiseop POV

 

What promise could Lynn have made years ago? And years ago?  You mean; Haera has known Taemin for years? How would Taemin know her? Gosh, this curiosity is killing me! I’m not in any position to be asking her about her personal life either… Ugh, maybe I can just trick her into telling me. Yeah, I’ll try that. I’m gonna text her.

What’s with Kiseop asking all these questions? I hope Eli hasn’t told him anything. I swear if I find out that Eli has said something, it’ll be the end of him! Well, at least the first week of school went by smoothly. Who would’ve thought I would become friends with 3 idols, and in just a matter of days? I knew for sure I didn’t see this coming. Well, I like Kevin. He’s cool and not nosy unlike Eli… Gosh Eli, you got on my bad side. It’s not that he’s not cool it’s just that grrrr why’d you have to go snooping around? Who are you, Sherlock? Now I have another reason to keep a close eye on you, just what I didn’t want you to find out, you found out. You better not open your mouth… Anyway, it’s finally Friday! The weekend is here! I wonder what I’m gonna do… I’ll just three-way call Lynn and YooYoo and ask them what they’re gonna do.

“I have a family reunion tomorrow Tay. I have to stay there Saturday and Sunday. I come back until Sunday night… Mianhae”

Aww man, what am I gonna do now? Taemin has to go film this weekend so I can’t do anything with him either… I’m mad at Eli right now so he’s out of the question… I’ll call Kevin and Kiseop I guess.

“Oh just making sure, this is the first time you contact me hehe can you hold on? I’m on the other line with Kiseop I’ll hang up on him really quick”

“Hey Kiseop you’re now on the line with Tay and I” I heard Kevin after a few seconds.

“So what’s up Tay?” Kevin asked.

 

“Do you guys have plans for the weekend?”

 

“Nope” Kiseop answered. Okay, so he’s available. I hope Kevin is too

 

“Great, and you Kev?”

 

“Uh, I’m gonna be busy, sorry. I have something scheduled for this weekend. I was actually about to head out right now. Sorry Tay, maybe you can do something with the rest. Annyeong, see you in school!”

 

“H-hello? Kev?” I heard Kiseop calling for Kev. Did he hang up? Without even letting me say bye?

 

“Soo, I guess it’s just you and me…” Kiseop said. Ugh, why why why why why?

 

“Um, yeah. I guess so…”

 

“Do you have anything in mind? You know, to do tomorrow?”

 

“Oh, um no not really”

 

“You wanna go to the park? Mall? Norebang? Hongdae?”

 

“Mmmm… Let’s go to Norebang tomorrow at 7! Is that fine?”

 

“Yeah! It’s a date, gotta go. Mom’s telling me to clean my room heh I’ll meet you tomorrow night. Annyeong Tay~”

 

Yay! I haven’t gone to a norebang in a long time Wait. Date? Did he just say it’s a date…? It’s just two friends hanging out. Nothing more. Just a friendly date… Yeah! Friendly... Date… No reason to be nervous. You’re just hanging out. Gosh, I’m so tired… I’m just gonna go to sleep.

I was on the couch watching TV by myself… Mom and dad are out working; Taemin left a while ago to his activities, and even little Hani had plans with her best friend. I’m just here flipping through the channels cause not even the TV is helping out. There’s nothing good to watch on TV…

Hey Tay, I’ll meet you at the playground at 6:30 so we can head out when it’s still not dark

 

At 6:30? What time is it? Oh crap! It’s 5:45! Way to let me know Kiseop… Gosh I better go get ready! I turned off the TV and ran upstairs almost tripping on the last step. What am I gonna wear? What am I gonna wear~~~? Oh, I know! I’ll just set my outfit down on the bed and go shower. I took a shower and put on my outfit.

It’s simple since we’re just going to norebang yet cute. I put on my make up and my perfume and was able to have 10 minutes to spare. Good. I’m gonna go brush my teeth before leaving…

 

I was putting on my sandals when I got a text from him. He said he was at the playground and ready to go. I head out and made my way to the playground. It’s a nice day today. Something about today made me be in a really good mood, but I don’t know what it is. I guess it’s just one of those good days. I was nearing the playground when I saw Kiseop crouching looking at something on the floor. He looks… cute.

As I was getting closer my heart would beat faster with each step. Am I nervous? Why are you acting retarded, heart? Go back to normal!

 

Kiseop POV

 

I was looking at some ants on the floor while I was waiting for Haera. I don’t really like bugs or insects or anything related but ants are pretty fascinating. They can carry 10 times their own weight, I mean, how cool is that? I heard someone getting nearer. I looked up and I saw Haera making her way over. I sent her a smile and I swear I saw her turn a little pink. Maybe it was just the lighting.

 

“Hey Tay, you ready to go?”

 

“Yeah”

 

“Okay then. Kaja”

 

We started walking back to my house to get my car. It’s getting easier to talk to Haera but it’s still awkward… Even the car rides are kinda silent. There might be some comments here and there but it’s mostly silent… I do catch her staring at me sometimes though; I guess it is cause she’s not used to being around me, which I totally get. I just wish she were more comfortable around me. I’d like to be her friend.

 

“Well, we’re here” I parked the car by the park near the norebang.It usually gets crowded so I just parked a few feet away from the actual place.

 

“Yay! I haven’t been to a norebang in years. Kaja” She literally ran out of the car and started sprinting towards the place. I was following behind her but I was walking, not sprinting haha

 

“Hurry up~~” She chanted as she looked back and saw me all the way back. Hehe that was cute. Wait, what am I saying?

 

The minute we entered the room she turned into a completely different Haera. She was no longer the shy and quiet Haera. She was now super-jittery-and-smiling-and-talking-super-fast Haera. I’ve never seen this side of her. It’s a nice sight hehe.

 

“I wanna go first, I wanna go first~” she ran and selected a fast song. It was Gee by Girl’s Generation. I’m surprised she knows the whole dance! She does it better than Hyeyon hhaha and she sings really pretty. I would dance along with her sometimes causing her to laugh.

 

“Wooh! *Claps* That was really good Haera, I didn’t know you could sing. You have a really nice voice.” I swear I saw her blush again.

 

“Thanks~ Now it’s your turn~” She handed me the mic. I saw they had Man Man Ha Ni. I’m gonna make this fun. I selected the song and I started dancing and signing to it. But not the regular dance, I started to dance really random haha I haven’t had this much fun dancing like this in a while haha

I turned to see Haera and I saw her cracking up! She was literally rolling on the couch laughing! I’ve never seen her like this. I like seeing her like this. I like the Haera that doesn’t act cold towards me and ignores me. I like seeing her laughing and smiling and being all happy. We kept dancing and signing together until she got tired. It’s really fun being with Haera. I’ve never got to see this side of her before; it’s nice.

 

Your POV

 

I’m having a really great time! Who knew Kiseop was fun to be around? He kept making me laugh so much! I swear I’m surprised I haven’t peed my pants hahaha The problem with me getting hyper though is that I get really tired afterwards, and it’s starting to kick in. We’ve been going at it for hours and as the last song finished I sat on the couch. I thought he would stop too and head home but he put on a last song. A slow song… The minute he started signing, he got so into it. His voice is so sweet and warm. I couldn’t help but smile the whole time he was singing. I see he really enjoys his career.

He sings with so much passion and enjoyment. The sound of his sweet voice hypnotized me. He finished off the song and gave a sheepish smile.

 

“Waah~~ Daebak *claps* You have a really nice voice Kiseop. The way you sing gets the listener so into the song and the emotion of it. *Claps* Daebak, jeongmal daebak”

 

“Heh thanks” I thought I saw him blush.

 

“Shall we go walk around the park before leaving? It’s like 10 and I wanna see the night sky”

 

“Heh, gurae. Kaja”

 

We got out of norebang and we made our way to the park where we parked the car. I was following behind Kiseop since he was finding a spot to sit and look at the sky. He went up a grassy hill and once we reached the top, he sat down.

 

“Come, sit.” He patted the grass next to him. I took a seat and looked up at the sky. It’s really pretty. Since we’re in a hill, there aren’t many lights making it easier to see all the stars. I didn’t know there was a full moon today. It’s so bright and pretty. This is why he wanted to come look at the sky? I turned to see him and he was taking pictures with his camera. I didn’t know he brought it nor knew he had brought it up here.

 

“I didn’t know you liked taking pictures?” He looked at me and smiled. He gave me the camera and it had a picture of what he just took.

 

“Wow, this is really pretty. You have a talent for photography Kiseop. What else can you do? You sing, you dance, you’re funny, you can take pictures; what can’t you do?” We giggled at my comment.

 

“Thanks. You know; if I hadn't become a singer, I would be a photographer. I love photography! The way I can capture what I see in my eyes and to be able to capture the beauty of nature. And it’s not just about the way the picture looks, it’s about the feelings and memories the picture brings. For example, this picture will remind me of the time I saw a new Haera blossom, a beautiful one”

 

Oh my gosh, that smile again… It’s making my heartbeat really fast. Oh god, I think I’m blushing….

 

“*clears throat* That’s nice” I handed him back the camera and looked back at the sky.

 

“Haera…” Kiseop suddenly called.

 

“Mmm?”

 

“Can we… talk?” He sounds so serious… I turned and sat cross-legged facing him. He did the same.

 

“Sure what’s on your mind?”

 

“Um… Can we… start over?”

 

“Start over? What do you mean?”

 

“Um… Can I see your phone?”

 

“Uhhh yeah sure” I handed him my phone and I saw he was scrolling. He stopped and let a small giggle.

 

“This is what I’m talking about” He handed me the phone. It was his contact. It’s saved as “Arrogant Jerk T.T”

 

“Arrogant Jerk? Really?” He smiled. “What did I ever do to you by the way? You acted so cold and mean to me ever since I bumped into you…”

 

“Oh… That… Well, to be honest, I don’t really know the answer myself. There was just something about you that made me act weird…”

 

“Oh, well. Can we? Start over? I got to see a new Haera. A beautiful one, like I said before. Seeing you smile and laugh and be all excited was a first, and I liked the sight of you having fun and not ignoring me. C’mon? Tell me you didn’t have fun back at the norebang?”

 

“*Giggles* Yeah, it was fun”

 

“I wanna be able to be like that with you all the time. No awkwardness, no silent moments, no coldness; just two best friends talking and conversing and having fun! What do you say?”

 

Maybe he’s right… I feel kinda bad that I’m always mean to him. He’s been all but an arrogant jerk. Maybe a tad bit when I first met him, but after we became partners and everything he has been really nice to me… Give it a shot Tay. What do you have to lose?

 

“…Okay. Let’s start over” I extended my hand so we could shake on it. He looked at it and then smiled. He grabbed it but didn’t shake it. Instead he pulled me into a hug…. It was warm and… it felt really nice. Oh God it’s getting really hot in here.

 

“I’m so glad you gave me a chance. Thank you. Believe me, we’re gonna be the bestest friends ever bestie” Bestie? I-I’m his best friend now? He let go of the hug and saw I was dumbfounded. This is so embarrassing….

 

“Hehe c’mon. It’s almost 11. I’ll take you home now.

 

Kiseop POV

 

We were walking back to the car and I couldnt help but smile at the thought of what just happened. Haera gave me a second chance! We’re best friends now! Am I taking things too fast though? Just a minute ago she despised me and now we’re best friends. I don’t care! I’m happy I get to be on good terms with Haera now!

 

“Kiseop, can I ask you something? Tay asked as I opened the door of the car for her.

 

“Sure, what’s up?”

 

“Can you just drop me off by the playground? I’ll walk home from there…”

 

“What? Why? It’s late. I’m not gonna let you walk home from there.”

 

“Please?  Just drop me off there”

 

“Why? Is there something wrong?”

 

“Urm.. Nope. Everything’s fine, just, please?”

 

I know she’s hiding something… Is there something wrong in her household? Does she get abused or something? Why is she so afraid in letting me take her to her house?

 

“Okay then…” I am so not letting her go back home by herself.

 

“Thank you”

 

“You know, we’re best friends now. You can tell me anything. Best friends don’t keep secrets” I tried to talk her into telling me but it didn’t work.

 

“I know, nothing’s wrong. I promise”

 

“Okay, let’s go then”

I know all Kiseop is doing is trying to get closer to me but that’s exactly what I can’t let happen. Not until I know he’s trust worthy. It’s really nice of him to worry but I can handle going back home from the park. It’s not that far… The car ride to the playground was quiet. I could tell he wanted to talk me out of going back by myself but I can’t let him know where I live, not yet.

 

“Thanks for tonight Kiseop. It was really fun” I said as I got out of the car. I closed the door and he rolled down the window.

 

“No problem Tay. And please call me Seoppie” Seoppie? Heh, that’s cute.

 

“Alright, Seoppie. Goodnight, I’ll see you in school.”

 

“Okay, text me when you get home” I waved until the car was out of sight. I made my way back to my house. As I was walking I felt as if someone was following me… I would look back but would see nothing. I kept walking but I felt someone getting closer and closer. I started fast walking, then sprinting, until I saw a shadow. I started running! I couldn’t help but feel something bad was gonna happen. I hid in an alley trying to catch my breath. I was scared and I didn’t know what to do… I was about to go back when suddenly someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth.

 

“*muffled screaming*” I tried to scream but they were muffled by the person’s hand. Oh my God someone, save me!!
