Chapter 22:The Front Yard
Snow White and Seven and the DwarvesJiyong’s house was near to everything—to his job, the supermarket, the district, the Church, the police station and everything you could think of, just a walking distance. Sandara forgot her problems slowly and slightly slip away as she stares in amazement at the gargantuan and exquisite houses laid before her eyes.
“No one is inside. My parents are on a vacation so they don’t visit me quite often. My sister has a family of her own.” Jiyong said as he typed in a password on the keypad by the gate, and his gate flew open instantly. He let her inside first, before he followed and closed the gate. Sandara looked around her surroundings, still clutching on the Polartec jacket Jiyong lend her, unaware of his presence just behind her, watching her closely.
The front yard was like a sanctuary—sort of. Ornamental and non-ornamental plants take the whole place. They harmonize together, like the melody and base of a piano piece. Colorful lights outlined the cut-designed trees and bushes. Sandara stoops, and touches the soft dewy grass below her. It’s well-trimmed. Jiyong’s gardener must’ve taken care of this.
“Sandara, come on. I’ll cook you lunch.” Jiyong says, stooping beside her and placing his hands on her shoulders. Sandara bit her lower lip, and nodded.
They stood up together, and Jiyong led her inside his house. Just like with the gate, he has to punch in a password to the keypad for the front door to open. The door swiftly opens towards inside, and the strong, heavenly scent of cinnamon welcomed Sandara’s nose. They both stepped inside, and the door immediately closed afterwards with the swift swing of Jiyong’s leg.
“You can sit over at the dining chair,” Jiyong whispers into her ear. “Or take a nap, and I’ll wake you up after I had cooked lunch.”
Sandara looked up to him, and beamed. “I’ll wait.”
