Chapter 46
Only One Day
Chapter 5
“Xin… are you alright?”
“De…”
Sitting down on the floor of the bathroom after throwing up again,
Xin replied weakly as Jungmin knocked on the door repeatedly.
It had been going on for a few weeks and she was beginning to get used to waking
up feeling nauseous and spending the next half an hour or so in the washroom.
But she still wasn’t used to the sudden attention from Jungmin, ever since her
discharge from the hospital and return home.
“Yah, open up or I‘ll break the door down”
Jungmin held on to her as soon as she exited the washroom and led her to the bed.
Even though things had taken an unexpected turn, he was thankful for the chance
and was determined to make up for everything and be the best husband.
“Here, have some ginger tea. Omma says it‘ll help lessen the effect. I‘ll go get your breakfast”
“It’s ok Oppa, I can manage myself... You‘ll be late for work”
“There‘s nothing much these days, I‘ve brought some work back.
Xin ah, shall we sign up for antenatal and yoga classes?”
“Mwoh?”
Sitting down beside Xin after retrieving a few brochures from his desk,
Jungmin placed them in front of her and began pointing out the various classes.
“The doctor said that it‘ll help us prepare for labour and the birth of the baby, and also how to take care of yourself during this time… ”
“Oppa you really don‘t have to…”
“It‘ll be good for you and the baby, let’s sign up after the checkup tomorrow”
As Xin flipped through the brochures, she reminded herself mentally to remain sane,
even though she was touched by his efforts. For everything would come to an end
eventually and he would return to his girlfriend.
It was a mistake right from the start.
The lie about her having a boyfriend even though she had broken up with him.
The agreement. The marriage. The unexpected pregnancy.
And falling for him despite knowing that everything was just an act.
Those days spent with him felt as though they had returned to their younger days,
when they only had each other in their eyes. She knew she couldn’t afford to any fall
deeper, which was the reason she stayed away for several weeks to recompose herself.
“It’s not supposed to turn out this way… what do I do now?”
