Chapter 2

“Appa watch out!”

Kyu Jong shouted as he saw a girl dash out into the middle of the road where their
car was driving towards. His dad didn’t manage to brake on time and hit the girl 
slightly. They got off the car to check on the girl and were about to approach her 
when a woman rushed forward and began hitting her with a stack of rolled up 
newspapers, and his dad stopped him from intervening. 

“You little wretch… how dare you seduce my husband your step dad …”

“I didn‘t do it Omma! I swear I didn‘t!”

She turned around and glared at the middle aged man who was standing by the 
pavement and giving her a smirk. 

It was only then when he managed to get a full view of her and he was surprised 
to see that it was a classmate of his whom he was not familiar with as she kept to 
herself most of the time. And there was something about the man that he didn’t like.

“Stop denying! I saw it with my own eyes. 
Stop glaring at him… is that how you treat your elders?”

“Anni… I really didn‘t…”

He moved forward as he saw the woman raise her hand again 
and blocked the blow which would have landed on the girl again.

“Who are you? Can‘t you see I‘m disciplining my daughter?”

“Our car almost ran her over… I‘m here to check on her… are you ok… Krystel?”

It was only when he held on to her when he noticed the scratch marks on her tear
stained face and neck, which confirmed his suspicions of the man. He was relieved
however that she was only scratched slightly on her knees and hands from the fall.

“You should have just run over her. In that case I‘ll get a sum of money from her insurance”

“Omma… are you really my omma?”

“I wish I didn‘t have a daughter like you”

“She‘ll be my responsibility from now on”

That was how she came to live with their family, after his dad decided it wasn’t 
safe for her to return to a home where her parents obviously didn’t care. His 
mum welcomed her home with open arms and Kimmy was delighted to have 
another companion as she always wanted to have a sister.

“What are you doing?! Put that cutter away!”

He found her attempting to slit her wrists as he checked on her later 
that night and got hurt as he tried to grab the cutter away from her. 

“Mianhae… does it hurt?”

“Anni, it hurts more to see you in this state. Promise me you won‘t do it again…”

She burst into tears upon hearing his words and he hugged 
her tightly, patting her on the back to calm her down.

He found out the shocking truth that she was actually a victim of ual harrassment 
- the step dad of hers had been traumatizing her since he married her mum 
several years back and she lived in constant fear that something might happen 
when her mum wasn’t around. 

And he did attempt to force himself on her but it was fortunate that her mum 
re time to find them tussling in the living room. But to think that the 
mother of hers was blind enough to believe her husband and chased her out. 
Kyu Jong was glad they ran into her and got her out of that place.

“You‘ll be fine, don‘t worry”
