Chapter 1

"What are you doing?! Let go of me!"

“Why are you resisting? Haven’t you been carrying a torch for me all the while?”

He shouted as she struggled to push him off after he pinned her down and began kissing her.

“Aniyo... the person I knew wasn’t like you at all. He wouldn’t hurt anyone. 
He was gentle and caring, and only had eyes for the person he loved...”

“Stop acting as if you knew me that well! Who are you?”

“Does it even matter to you at all?”

“I loved her, yet she left me for a rich brat”

“Go ahead then, if it’ll make you happy...”

Her eyes rimmed up with tears as she removed the buttons on her blouse slowly. 
She struggled to overcome the shock of his sudden outburst and rash move, 
telling herself that he was just having another bad day and wasn’t aware of what 
he was doing under the influence of alcohol. 

It hurt to see him in a state of self destruction, and all he needed was 
someone who listened and cared for him.

“Stop!”

He held on to her hands, preventing her from undressing any further, 
unable to believe what he had just done to her. 

She was just trying to help by comforting him, yet he ended up venting 
his frustrations on her.

He hated the girls who stuck around him for what he was now, a successful music
producer who could help them get into the industry and make it big. 

He hated his ex for leaving him when he was nothing. 
And he couldn’t accept the fact that she had come running back to him after being dumped.

She picked up the broken glass pieces from the beer bottle he had smashed earlier on with her 
bare hands and got cut in the process, and he scurried to get the first aid box for the antiseptic 
cream to clean her wound. She then left the studio after allowing him to dress up her wound.

“Not all girls are what you make them out to be. You just haven’t met the right one”

She returned to the studio a few days later to tender her resignation with immediate effect. 
He locked himself up in his office while the rest of the crew bade
her farewell as he still couldn’t bring himself to face her after that incident, and he
guessed she probably didn’t want to see him too.

“Young Saeng hyung, Jojo bought us some snacks and said that this was for you”

Hyung Jun waved a packet of snacks in front of him and placed a cup of drink on his desk. 
He went on with his work but was soon distracted by the strangely familiar aroma, which he 
knew for sure wasn’t the usual drink she would get for him. 

He removed the lid and stared at the cup of coffee which had a carefully 
drawn smiley face on the foam...

Flashback

“A taste of love. On the house”

“Mwoh?”

“Well... just finding a random guinea pig for my new creation. 
How do you like the taste of it?”

“Light and sweet, with a bitter chocolate ending. 
How did you manage to draw such a perfect smiley face on the foam?”

“It’s a skill not everyone has. 
De, it’s sweet yet bitter at the same time, but you can never get enough of it.
Because love is what makes the world go around, just like how most people will
need a cup of coffee to keep them going every day. 
Don’t give up, it’s not the end”

“Komawo”

“You should smile more often Sunshine, you have a nice smile which 
can warm people’s hearts, just like the sun”

“Sunshine? Really? Shall I make you my star then? 
You’re just like my guiding star, lighting the way when I’m lost in the darkness”

End of Flashback

“Hyung Jun ah! Where’s she?”

“Joelle? She left a while ago”

“Did she say where she’s going to?”

“You mean her new work place? Anni... she just mentioned she wanted to take a break”

He reached for his mobile and began dialing her number, only to find it engaged.

He couldn’t believe that he never recognised her throughout the year they had been working 
together - The same girl who had been with him during his lowest point in life, when he broke 
up with the girlfriend he loved with all his heart. 

Then he realised that ever since her reappearance as a crew in the studio, she 
was still doing the same, being there for him whenever he was feeling down. 

And to think that he almost harmed her the other day...

“Why didn’t you tell me it was you all along? My star girl...”
