Part 3 - Chapter 11
Only One Day
“Give me your hand”
“Why?”
Joelle looked at Young Saeng curiously as he took her
hand and smiled after slipping a ring onto her finger.
“That should keep those guys away from you.
Make sure you keep this on and don‘t lose it again”
“Waeyo? I really didn’t mean to… I can’t believe
you still can‘t get that off your mind oppa…”
She laughed as she recalled the incident several weeks back where a potential business
partner for Jungmin’s café suddenly expressed his intention to pursue her after a dinner
meeting and even presented her with a bouquet of flowers.
Young Saeng was there to pick her up after the dinner, and he almost went hysteric when
he saw him hold on to her hand and kiss it. She had a hard time coaxing and convincing
him that it was really just a business meeting that ended unexpectedly.
“But they still stand a chance as long as it isn‘t on this finger”
She said teasingly while pointing to her left ring finger.
“I didn’t know you were that eager to marry me…”
“Anni… just stating a fact”
They stopped in front of a café after some walking and she recognized the place instantly
- the café where they first met, though a different one was in its place now.
Young Saeng opened the door and led her in, smiling upon seeing the
priceless expression on her face as she looked around the place in awe.
“It’s so similar to my dream café oppa… but why is it empty?”
He whispered to the staff who took her leave soon after, leaving
the both of them alone in the café and Joelle feeling confused.
“Where did the staff go?”
“You may wanna take a look at this…”
Young Saeng handed her a folder and made his way to the counter, where he began
preparing their drinks. Joelle stared in disbelieve as she saw her sketches in the contents
of the proposal addressed to her, complete with conceptual and menu ideas.
“Oppa… are you kidding me? You mean you rented and set up this place?
No wonder I couldn’t find my sketchbook… and when did you learn how to make coffee?”
She leaned over the counter and looked at Young Saeng who was carefully drawing on the foam.
“Secret. Yah, don‘t peek yet. You left it at my place and didn‘t claim it.
I just happened to be looking for business ideas and thought it would be good…”
“But that‘s stealing my idea isn‘t it?”
“Anni, I’m just transforming your ideas into reality. You’re the real owner of it”
“Mwoh?”
“You heard it right... There‘s another booklet inside by the way.
Take a seat, I‘ll be over in a minute”
She dug into the folder after sitting down and found a little book inside.
He glanced at her nervously as she opened the book
and began sniffing as she went through the pages.
He had spent several weeks preparing everything and putting the book together,
pictures of the both of them and some shots he took of her when she wasn’t aware
- while she was eating, sleeping, spacing off… all the little expressions that he loved.
“Forever love. On the house”
He grinned as she looked up with a puzzled expression and stared at cup of coffee he had
just prepared in front of her, wishing he could have captured that moment with his camera.
“It‘s beautiful… komawo oppa…”
“Remember what you once told me?”
“About?”
“Some people may need a cup of coffee to keep them going everyday…
but I need you more than anything else. Will you marry me Jojo?”
Looking at the man who was now kneeling in front of her with another ring in his hand, she paused for a moment before realizing what was going on and nodded.
He slipped the ring onto her left ring finger and held her in his arms, speaking to
her once again as he gazed into her eyes…
“You are my everything…”
