Donghae: (looking tired but answers your call) Hello?

Donghae: No, it's 11 am. Just done working out.

You: Really?

You: (smiling) Nothing. So, how are you? Is it weird that I'm calling you like we're close friends or something?

Donghae: We're friends right?

You: (smiling) We're friends?

Donghae: (smiling) Yeah.

 

Since then, you two start a new friendship. A texting, calling, videochatting friendship. It wasn't a regular thing. It was more of a, if one needs to talk to someone kind of relationship.

 

Kimberley's birthday was coming up and you text Donghae.

You answer the phone call.

You: I just. Her birthday is coming up.

You: No. We're 18 minutes apart. We don't share the same birthday.

You: Thanks. I just realized something?

Donghae: (smiling) Yeah?

You: So, girls call you Oppa.

Donghae: Yeah!

You: Not even your real sisters.

Donghae: I only have a Hyung.

You: I know but, is Oppa suppose to like, be respectful to someone older?

Donghae: Yeah.

You: But only Koreans right?

Donghae: What do you mean?

You: Only Korean girls can call you Oppa.

Donghae: No,

You: What?

Donghae: Everyone calls me Oppa.

You: (laughing) Everyone? Even your hyungs and ajummas?

Donghae: (smiling) No. All younger girls.

You: Oh,

Donghae: Why?

You: No reason.

Donghae: (smiling) Did you want to call me Oppa?

You: What? No!

Donghae: You're smiling! (smiles)

You: (smiling) No!

Donghae: (smiling) Yes!

You: (smiling) No!

Donghae: (smiling) Yes!

You: Whatever. I have to go.

Donghae: Okay, Oppa will just wait for your call.

You: You Oppa yourself!

Donghae: Oh? Did Oppa make you angry?

You: (smiling) Seriously! Hang up!

Donghae: Oppa is sorry.

You: (smiling) Yah!

Donghae: (surprised) Yah?

 

All of a sudden, the both of you burst into laughter.

 

You: Okay, well then. I'll call you again. Or, you call me when you're not busy.

Donghae: Okay, Oppa will call you soon. Don't miss me too much. (smiling)

You: (smiles) Yeah, sure. I'll try very hard.

Donghae: Okay, don't worry about Oppa too much.

You: (smiling) Seriously! Okay, fine. Bye, take care God Bless keep safe and stay healthy, Donghae!

Donghae: (smiles) Araso. (understood)

You: (smiling) K, bye (hangs up)

A month has passed and you receive a text from him.

 

Donghae: Super Junior will be having a concert in L.A. in 8 days from today.

You: Really? You guys have fun.

You: My friend's daughter have a Karate Match that day

Days pass and you're busy with your friend's daughter's preparation for the Karate Tournament. The day arrives and you're with Monique, your friend's daughter.

 

Monique: Ate ______ (Ate means big sister in Filipino) we're going to be late.

You: No we're not. Where's Shaq?

Shaq: (comes running in the car) Here!

You: Okay, let's go! (drives for the tournament)

 

It was great and Monique won the first round. You see 2 guys in Karate uniform looking your way. You turn to where they are.

Shaq: Ate ______, what are you staring at? The game is over there. We need to take a video.

You: Oh, yeah (continues taking the video)

 

Hours pass and Monique won 1st place.

You: (hug her tightly)  We're so proud of you!

Monique: (smiling) thanks!

You: So, should we go?

Monique: Not yet. I want to see the Ninjas.

You: What?

Shaq: The guys that you were staring at Ate _____. They're the Ninjas. They fly and flip everywhere.

You: What?

Monique: Ooooooh, you were staring at them.

You: What? No, I wasn't staring! Come on. Sit down, it's about to start.

 

 

 

In LA, the same day.

 

Eunhyuk: Let's practice English. Ear, I am.

Henry: Here I am.

Eunhyuk: Ere.

Siwon: (pointing down) Here, not there (pointing afar)

Eunhyul: Okay, good job!

Henry: What else? (notice Donghae) Hey, Donghae-ssi.

Donghae: Yeah?

Siwon: See, like that?

Shindong: (sits next to them with the snacks) Like what?

 

Soon enough, they prepare for the concert.

 

Back to the Karate Tournament... Just as you were about to leave. One of the Ninjas smile at you. You smile back.

 

He says something. His voice was too low but, you make out, "You're not from around here are you?"

You: (smiling) No.

 

Just then Shaq hurries and Monique runs after him. Since you're in the parking lot, you're afraid a car might come driving by. So you run after them.

 

That night, Monique teased you about the Ninja.

 

Monique: So, how was your date?

You: What date?

Monique: What was his name?

You: Who?

Monique: I saw you and him.

You: What the. No, He was just cute.

Monique: Cute? Did you get his number?

You: What? No. We hardly even talk.

Monique: Sure.

 

Just then your phone starts ringing. It's Super Junior M's "S.O.L.O" Monique smiles as she tries to sing along. Yeah, she wasn't singing it right so you start laughing.

 

Monique: Well, I'm sorry that you're so mixed and know a whole bunch of languages and I don't. (takes your phone and gives it to you) Good day woman! (starts walking away)

You: What?

Monique: I said good day (leaves)

You: (smiling) Okay? (answers the phone call) Hello?

Dongmin: Hey!

You: Bell? (looks at the caller id) Oh hey (smiling)

Dongmin: So, there's a lot of things that you kept from me.

You: What?

Dongmin: Try and remember them.

You: seriously, what?

Dongmin: Really?

You: I seriously have no idea.

Dongmin: I thought you didn't like Asians?

You: Huh?

Dongmin: I heard you were texting my cousin.

You: What? Oh, your cousin. Yeah, Donghae.

Dongmin: So, you're in first name basis now.

You: Dude, Americans go for the first name basis.

Dongmin: Oh yeah, huh.

You: Yeah!

Dongmin: so, what now?

You: You called me. (smiling) What's up?

Dongmin: Are you two like? Trying to hook up or something?

You: No.

Dongmin: Really?

You: Yeah! He's just a friend. Plus, I'm never going to meet him in person anyways.

Dongmin: What? He's there now.

You: Where?

Dongmin: In LA.

You: Oh, I'm not in LA, I was at a competition. Karate. Anyway, there were these Chinese brothers. One was like my age or older while the other looked younger. He was the cute one.

Dongmin: What?

You: Nothing.

Dongmin: So, there's nothing for me to worry about.

You: No, I only said "No" to him. Then I ran off. Long story.

Dongmin: No, I mean.

You: What?

Dongmin: Nevermind. It's late there huh?

You: Yeah, in a little bit.

Dongmin: I thought you were going to see them. They'll be there for a few days.

You: The Ninjas?

Dongmin: No, super Junior.

You: Oh.

Dongmin: Well, sleep now. Goodnight.

You: Goodnight. Bye, take care God Bless keep safe and stay healthy.
