My Angel of LifeNo one knew what to do. It was the second day and Kyuhyun still had not woken up. He had been unconscious from the moment he had been placed inside the ambulance, oblivious to the pain and tears of those around him. His body had closed off itself, receding to the recesses of his mind, trying to protect him from the dangers of the world outside. He did not know of the battle going on. The battle between his father and his doctors.
That day, almost like a miracle, another doctor put up a new surgical scheme. He suggested that they should not stick to the text-book surgery methods and that they should try to think outside the box. If the father did not allow them to cut through the thorax, then they would have to find another way, one that did not harm the boys throat and still get them inside his body.
The doctors had long meetings, trying to gauge what they would do next. Time was running out and if they didn’t do anything, the boy would surely die. They came up with another surgical pathway and ran it past the father, who agreed, once assured that nothing would happen to his son and his ability to sing.
After a long 16 hour surgery, re-aligning the ribs, sealing the punctured lung, and re-setting the fractured hip bone and controlling any hemorrhage, the doctors came out.
Now it was time to wait. Wait and see what would happen next.
