"No!" My father strictly said, standing up from his seat.

"E-Excuse me?" Questioned the shocked translator.

This can't be happening to me.

This is the place.

"Annyeong hashimnika." I greeted the receptionist and showed her the letter.

"Please take a seat," smiled the receptionist, as she gestured towards the seats in the waiting room opposite.

What happens if they, -he- doesn't understand?

"I can't speak Korean." He bluntly said aloud.

"Oh honey, she can translate for us."

"Mum, I can barely hold a conversation. Anyways, there'll be a translator so don't worry." I reassure them.

What if he doesn't want to understand?

"Are you sure this is the right address?" He said, looking at his watch.

"Yes Dad, just look at the awards on the walls  and in the cabinets around you. Do you think a fake company would go to all this trouble?" I pointed out, taking in the embellished walls around me.

"Annyeong hashimnika." A suited, well-groomed man stood at the door of the waiting room. "Welcome to S.M. Entertainment Korea."

"No!" My father strictly said, standing up from his seat.

"E-Excuse me?" Questioned the shocked translator.

This can't be happening to me.

"She will not come back! She will not quit! She will be successful!" He firmly stated, then turned back to look at me.

Dad...

"Ahh, that is my wish too Mr. Chen." 

"He also wants to say that he has personally watched all your audition tapes and has high hopes for you." The translator translated.

"Gamsahamnida." I thanked, while him and Dad stared each other down.

"She will be like my child."

Both men exchanged a vice grip-like handshake and tried hard to read each other's highly inpenetrable minds as if their lives depended on it.

Then silence...

...as they finally let go and sat back down.

A scribble and flick was all that we came for, but this process has been much, much more.

An emotional rollercoaster.

While this ride has come to an end, another one is waiting for me just across the road.

A faster, taller, bigger, more exciting but scary rollercoaster.
