Sorry, it took me a long time to update! Was pretty busy since it's my friends and siblings' spring break,
and it has been a while since I really hang out with them. Since I'm always stuck here at home every single day!
Here is Chapter 10! Don't miss out on anything!
Chapter 10 - Peaceful Days; Or Not
"Am I supposed to tell this to my best friends, or will this be kept a secret?" I asked Mika.
He was resting on his bed, and I sat next to him. "So, you're admitting that you like me?"
I jerked my head away, not facing him. How could he have such confidence? Just last night, he barely
survived. If it wasn't for me, he wouldn't be here now.
"You know, vampires actually have an amazing healing powers." he said.
Yes, they do. I just found out this morning when I was on our way to their house. I skipped school with my
brother. Jihwan mentioned it to me that I didn't have to give him anything. Mika is somewhat their lord. Is he
some kind of a king of vampires? I asked Jihwan that, and in my surprise, he was.
"Mika is a very powerful vampire. He gets injured in fights because he's actually quite blood-thirsty and loses
control over himself. It was only a small scratch for him. You didn't have to panic. Really sis, you are such a
worry wart."
He always tricks me. "Yah! I didn't say anything at all! And you never heard anything!" I stormed out of his room
and just wandered around their house... well, mansion.
It was a Victorian house. Quite cozy. Not that dark. I headed back to Mika's room. But then she was there,
Park Soo Ah. Just standing infront of his room. She looked straight ahead. For a second there, I thought I saw
a tear fall from her eyes. I called out her name, but she vanished.
"Why didn't you let Soo Ah in?" I asked Mika when I entered his room. He didn't answer. "You know, I'm still
quite confused. Why did you even decide that my family should serve under you?"
"How did you know about that?!" He exclaimed. Surprised from my question. "Did Injun tell you that? How dare
he?" He tried to get up and so I rushed to him and pushed him back on the bed.
"Do not touch him! He's your brother." I told him.
"Sigh. What else do you know? Everything?" I nodded. He sensed my desperation of me needing some
answers. He sighed and opened his mouth to talk. "I did it all for love."
"So, you were really in love with her, huh?" I mumbled. Of course, he still heard me. He sat up and pulled me
closer. "What I know is Haneul is Haneul, and you are you."
When he said he did it all for love, I thought it was really corny. But it happened many years ago, so I don't
blame him. I was happy when he said, I am myself. But I couldn't shake off this feeling that he still thinks about
the witch huntress, Haneul. And not me. Of course, he couldn't just forget her, could he? She was his first love
after all.
Our faces were only inches apart. "I don't understand you... you're complicated."
I am complicated. He told me. Then he kissed my forehead. The second he brushed his lips on mine, I turned
away.
"Sorry... it's just that... I need time to think. Also, I still need to talk to my parents." I whispered to him.
He kissed my forehead again. "It's okay."
I left the room and looked for my brother. For some odd reason, I didn't like it when he kissed my forehead.
What am I? His grandmother? This is the 21st century, how could he kiss me on the forehead?
Since I couldn't find my brother, I decided to leave their house and just stroll around. I was in deep thought.
When I mentioned to my parents about what we really are, they didn't sound surprise. They knew all along that
they were a vampire.
-flashback this morning-
"Dear, you are not really Haneul from the old days. You only have her memories. Since we are part vampires
and part witches, we gain powers. Well, not all of us. Only in every 3rd generation of sons and daughters. Your
dad and I don't have vampiric abilities, we are only witches/warlocks. And as a witch, we can control people,
and see their aura. We know how powerful a person, or creature is." My mom said.
"Did you mean those different colors of fire around them?" I asked.
My dad nodded. "Our source of power is our eyes.
So, you must take care of them. Because you need your eyes to see."
-end of flashback-
So, that's probably why my eyes hurts so much. Like right now. I rubbed them. Then I hit something.
"Owww..." I murmured. But I didn't hit the ground.
Instead, a really built arm caught me by my waist. "Are you okay?"
I blinked a few times and finally my vision came back.
"Uhh.. yeah. I'm fine. Sorry about that. I didn't see you. Thanks though..." I told him.
I haven't seen him around. A traveler maybe?
"No problem. Do you live around here?" he asked.
"Yes... are you lost?" Am I an idiot? Why did I ask him that?
"Actually, yes. I'm looking for the school."
A new student? "Well, I would like to take you there, but I skipped school today. So, I'll just give you directions.
Is that okay?" I told him and he nodded. "Well..."
Then I realized where I was. I was in the mountains. I remember, back when I was small, I used to play here all
the time. Then, I saw Mika. How did I end up here?
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked again.
"Oh... sorry about that. Just go straight down this path, and on the first cement road you see, turn right. Then
you'll see the school signs. You'll never miss it." I instructed him.
"Great. Thanks for you help." he smiled at me and then he started walking away.
Okay. That was really weird. Did I just blush? My wrist started itching. It was where Mika bit me. Then I
remembered Mika. No way...
"Why am I so stupid? How come I never realized it?!" I started running back towards his house.
On my way there, I bumped into the guy before, and I apologized again. I kept running until I arrived to Mika's
house and ran back to his room. He wasn't there. I couldn't find anyone. My eyes started hurting again, then I
had trouble breathing.
Okay, Haneul. Calm down. Start counting from one to ten, and slow down your breathing. I tried to calm myself
down. Just then, I sensed a really powerful aura which made me shiver and my knees to stop moving.
Paralyzed. The nerves in my knees started working again as soon as I couldn't sense the powerful aura that
disappeared.
I ran out again and this time, to the woods. I have this crazy feeling that Mika lied to me. He didn't kill that other
vampire! I know for sure Mika barely escaped. What happened to them? I thought Mika's the strongest
vampire?
I kept running, and as clumsy as I ought to be, I stepped on a rubble and slipped. I didn't hit the ground, then I
realized someone grabbed my arm to prevent me from hitting the ground.
"Soo Ah?" I asked just to make sure. It was her. "Thanks."
"Suhoon doesn't want you here. You should leave now." She said.
She was telling the truth. But Mika hadn't spoke in my mind, and so I was still unsure.
"I need to see Mika."
"Didn't you hear me? Leave!" She ordered.
I broke away from her grasp, as it tightened. "What is your problem? Why do you hate me so much?" I
snapped at her.
I just couldn't take her attitude. I didn't do anything to her. I have never even seen or met her until she
appeared that night.
"Nothing. I don't particularly hate you. It's just that..." she mumbled.
"Then why? Why do you act like you do? It's irritating. To think that I want to be friends with you."
".... F-f-friends?" she stammered. I nodded. "But I-"
In that second, I heard a stabbing sound, and Soo Ah's mouth opened and told me to run. She fell on me, then
onto the ground.
"Ahh... How lovely meeting you in an odd place." The guy who stabbed Soo Ah said. He smirked and came
closer. "It's nice seeing you again... Jeon Haneul."
I knew it. He was still alive. He still had the same beautiful face, but he had a scar on his jaw down his neck. I
stepped back. But instantly grabbed my neck and tried suffocating me.
"You're not needed in this world, Haneul."
