The First Encounter
Heart Skips A Beat
“What?! Professor Choi instructed you to attend his extra classes??” Eunji exclaimed loudly causing the students in the café to feel bewildered. She then unintentionally earned a few glaring stares from some of the seniors nearby, silently warned her to lower down her volume.
“Bbom-ah, are you serious?” This time Eunji asked in a much lower volume. Attending extra classes literally means that the damage in the students’ grades was practically the worst out of the worst.
“Do I even look like I’m joking?” Bomi put down her already finished blueberry smoothie, ruffled her own hair and let out a big, long sigh. “There go my summer’s plans!” She continued whining while putting down her forehead on the café’s table, giving up.
Bomi realized that her grades were getting worst. During their third semester’s final examination, she got mostly C in most of her subjects, and the worst of all, she failed her Maths subject. In fact, she had failed Maths for two tests in a row. Maths was never really her favourite subject, but that didn’t mean she wasn’t good at it either. Being a college student under funded scholarships, Bomi realized the risk that she may faced. If she continued to fail her subjects, her biggest nightmare may just came true; her precious scholarship might be taken away.
“Eunji-ah, I better get going now. Otherwise, I might be late for Professor Choi’s class again.” Bomi said to her best friend, who also happened to be her roommate. Eunji nodded, agreeing while not forgetting to pinch her bestie’s cheeks. Bomi let out a small whine, showing little dissatisfaction towards her friend’s habit of pinching her cheeks, in which, Bomi had been telling Eunji to stop doing that, especially in public. But, Eunji never listened.
Bomi continued grumbling and whining, while carrying her heavy steps towards the stairs. She looked at her watch and realized that it was 5 minutes more before the class started. Knowing how punctual Professor Choi was and how she would be late for the class, Bomi started to rush her heavy steps. She hastily dashed forward towards the last flight of stairs, but little that she knew; her own foot didn’t make its way for her, as she tripped over and crashed a figure right in front of her.
The next thing that Bomi knew, she was already on top of a figure, pinning down someone, with faces only a few centimetres apart. Both parties were in a deep shock, with eyes widen and jaw dropped.
It took a few seconds for Bomi to realize that she was on top of a very famous senior in the college.
Park Chorong.
“Yah…! Get off me!” She yelled as she roughly pushed Bomi away from top of her. “Can you not see where you’re going??” she exclaimed again. The incident caught the attention of the passer-by students. A few seconds later, they were already surrounded by a group of students who got curious and some male students who started to pushed each other around, trying to stand next to Chorong. As expected of Park Chorong and her ability to attract males.
“S-so-sorry…” Bomi stuttered. She then quietly grabbed the scattered books on the floor’s hallway and handed it to Chorong. Chorong snatched the books grumpily, letting out a snort. She stared at Bomi, looking her up and down.
Couldn’t matched her eyes with Chorong’s, Bomi stared at the floor. She could hear the group of students whispering and laughing among themselves. “Isn’t that the gorilla girl?” Bomi who heard the sudden remark coming from them, started to shrink in size, overwhelmed with embarrassment. She was not just a normal student in the college, but she was also infamously known as the girl who did a gorilla imitation during her last musical performance.
Oblivious to the amount of attention that they had, Chorong continued to stare at the baby-faced looking girl. This girl looked so innocent.
Chorong took a few steps closer to Bomi. She then leaned in to Bomi’s left ear and whispered, “Next time, if this ever happens again, I’m not going to let you get away with this. Understood?”
Bomi nodded her head vigorously as she watched Park Chorong walked passed by her. The other male students continued to follow behind her. A few of them gave fiery glares towards Bomi and some continued to call her the Gorilla girl. “As expected of the gorilla girl, never fail to embarrass herself in public~” which then followed by a shriek of laughter.
Bomi quietly walked away from the scene, not wanting to hear anymore of the students’ mocks. She took a deep breath, gathered her confidence back and snapped herself back to the reality. A reality that she dreaded.
She was already late for her class. And a long nagging awaited her.
A/N: I know it's a typical storyline, meeting each other through unintentional bumping incident, but that's practically what came out in my mind. I'll update the second chapter soon~ btw feel free to drop some comments! :)
