Description
*panting…panting…panting…panting*
I stumbled onto the cement floor in the darkest night trying to catch my breath. Thankfully, there are no street lights to shine on me and the people in town seemed to have all vanished. Cold sweat glides down my forehead down onto the deep wound on the right side of my neck. I look frantically behind me making sure that I’ve lost them. Very quickly, I turn into a dark ally. I then swiftly open a secret door hidden there and went inside.
I leaned against the wall of my living room in heavy breaths. *They’re after me again.* I thought in frustration. “Ow…” I touched the bloody cut on my neck and walked to the bathroom to clean it up. *Tonight just isn’t my night.* I roughly wiped the cut clean with rubbing alcohol and put a band aid on it. Tiredly, I took a shower, changed, and crawled into bed, but I am unable to fall asleep.
This isn’t anything new. I’ve been trying to escape my ruthless step uncle ever since my parents passed away when I was only 10 years old. I know exactly what they want from me. My parents left me all their assets and inheritances, but I have no means to use any of it. If leaving me wasn’t cruel enough, they left me a huge sum of fortune that I live day by day trying to save, including myself. If I give up, I’m going to give up everything my parents have worked their blood and sweat for so many years to have earned. My inheritances are hidden in a secret building that my father built a long time ago in Gyeongju and I have the only key to unlock the doors to it. My step uncle, a very dark and evil business man who works under the table for a living has been on a desperate hunt for me for 10 years.
*sigh* I heavily breathed and sat up in bed. I bit my bottom lip feeling the throb in my neck *It’s going to be ok. They won’t find me here.* I assured myself. I closed my eyes and leaned back against my pillows afraid to fall asleep, afraid of the nightmares, afraid of…..living.
