When the doctor went out of the emergency room I immediately shot up from my seat.

Is she alright?

She's not dying is she?

"Mr. Kim, did Ms. Kim eat anything that she was allergic to?" The doctor asked me when he saw me.

"I don't know doctor." I answered him honestly.

"It seems she had an allergic reaction and lost consciousness. She got dehydrated so she needs to drink a lot of water. Her temperature might rise so I suggest you try to monitor it once in a while. Just keep her warm. I gave her some anti-allergy so she'll be fine once she's sobered up." The doctor said.

I thanked the doctor and soon took Kara home. My house was the nearest so I took her there. I carried her all the way to my apartment and laid her down on the bed.

I took off her shoes and placed a blanket over her.

I remembered everything that the doctor told me.

... she got dehydrated...

I took a pitcher of water from the refrigerator and a glass. I placed it on my nightstand.

...Her temperature might rise so I suggest you try to monitor it once in a while...

I looked for the thermometer and took her temperature.

I adjusted the blanket over her.

...she'll be fine once she's sobered up...

I went to the kitchen to look for cofee. She'll need it when she wakes up. I made a batch fro her and went to her side. After a few moments I took her temperature and made her drink some water.

Just small sips...

I held her hand in mine. I did these things over and over again until dawn came.

I'm not good at doing good for others.

I'm not even good at taking care of myself.

But a while ago, when I carried Kara into the hospital...

The way my heartbeated fast when I waited for the doctor to come out...

When relief took over me when the doctor said that she was going to be fine...

I no longer thought of only myself.

As I held Kara's hand in mine and looked at her sleeping face...

I knew that I no longer lived for only myself...
