HYOYEON POV

I looked in the mirror and saw myself in a plain white mini dress with black pumps, blonde hair which was neatly tied into a ponytail with a slight curl to it, light and natural makeup which brought out my youthful look and the heart shaped necklace that HE gave me. I have to admit, I looked beautiful however, there was something wrong with my face. Not the make up, but maybe the emotion inside me. In case you were wondering where I was going with this outfit, I am going to HIS wedding. LEE HYUKJAE is getting married. But not with me….

I left for Singapore to continue my studies. I asked him to wait, but it seems like he did not. It was only for 3 years but I guess it was too long for him. I am disappointed in you Lee Hyukjae. I waited, resisting all the temptations of the good looking men over there but you did not. 2 days after I return home to Korea, I checked my mailbox and it was full of letters but one particular letter got me almost in a suicide. A WEDDING INVITATION.

Those words were short but unsurprisingly hurtful. 

I took a deep breathe and adjusted myself. I have to be strong and move on since he was doing the same with another lady. “Hwaiting” I whispered to myself, grabbed my Dolce and Gabana pouch, left my room and went downstairs. My mother was anxiously pacing back and forth in the living room . I gave her a nod, implying to her that I was ok and will be fine.

I head to the main door, went into the garage and got into my BMW car. I have to admit, studying in Singapore for 3 years has brought me wealth. But I guess, money really cant buy you happiness right, I quickly drove off  to keep myself busy so that I would not think about him. It was 11.45 pm and he was going to belong to another woman in 15 minutes. The journey towards the church was surprisingly short. It did not take longer than 10 minutes even when I dropped by a shop to buy chocolate for the newlywed –to- be.

Hyukjae’s parents were at the main door of the church welcoming guests. Shaking hands with the guests, giving them hugs and kisses, receiving gifts were supposed to be a happy thing. However, there was a hint of sadness in their eyes. Maybe it was because they had to let go of their one and only son. I went up to them and smiled.

 “Hi Mr and Mrs Lee, it has been such a long time since we met.” I spoke giving his mother a tight hug.

“Hyoyeon! You came. I never thought you would. We missed you. Please come inside and take a seat. No wait, please sit at the front row with Mrs lee and I. We need someone beside us since you are like our daughter already and Hyukjae has no siblings so the front row will look pretty empty. And, Mrs lee is going to feel lonely because I will have to accompany Hyukjae down the aisle anyway.” Mr Lee spoke. Well, Hyukjae’s parents thought that Hyukjae and I were like siblings when we were actually something more.

I wanted to reject. I wanted to be unnoticed but how could I do so. Mr and Mrs Lee have been really nice with me. They showered me with care, kindness and love just like my real parents. So I just nodded and waited with them for a few more guest to enter for the last 5 minutes before the event starts.

I got to my seat beside Mrs Lee right beside the aisle. The bells started to play and the event was starting. After a few seconds, he came in with Mr Lee. I admired his handsome face. His hair was blonde too but with a lighter shade. Lee Hyukjae was looking around as if he was searching for someone and his eyes finally landed on me. But he continued to stare at me. I looked down feeling hurt, disappointed, enraged and empty. How dare he stare at me like that even when he is getting married in a few minutes.

The bride then came in. I guess she’s the lucky Park Gyuri. I can see that She was beautiful even when the translucent veil was covering her face. Then she stopped in front of Hyukjae  with a shy smile on her face when he lifted up her veil. I looked at Hyukjae’s expression but he looked unhappy.

The priest started talking and I tried my best not to turn into a waterfall when the tears were threatening to spill. “ Lee Hyukjae, will you take Park Gyuri as your lawful wedded wife?” the priest asked.

Silence.

I can feel the people around me started to fidget. My heart felt like it was going to burst any second and I cant control my feelings anymore. So I apologized to his mother, stood up quietly and head for the door. There was still silence and no answer from him.

“Ehem, Lee Hyukjae would you-“ the preist was cut off.

“ NO. Because I only love Kim Hyoyeon. Don’t you dare leave Kim Hyoyeon!.” I heard him shout.

I froze in my spot with my fingers on the door handle. I was about to leave when he created this scene. I turned my back slowly and found him standing about a metre away from me coming towards me with tears spilling from his red eyes.
