The Secret's Already Out?

Jelly Beans

"For making me promise to be his servant, or whatever, Myung Soo hasn't really ordered me around all that much" Yeong Hwa thought, keeping her eyes locked onto the twins as they balanced on the sidewalk's curb. "Maybe he forgot about it? That would be-"

"Noona! You have a bee!" Yoogeun gasped, pointing to Yeong Hwa's pocket. At the mention of a bee, Yeong Hwa's heart skipped a bee as she staggered backwards and swatted helplessly at the air. Watching the show, Yoogeun and Seo Hyeon started cracking up at Yeong Hwa's ridiculous behavior, with Seo Hyeon even falling over because of how hard she was laughing. Frowning, Yeong Hwa swatted a few more times before hurrying back to the twins.

Grinning, Seo Hyeon walked up to Yeong Hwa and stood on her tip-toes in order to reach into Yeong Hwa's pocket. "Hey, what are you-"

"Here's the bee!" Seo Hyeon giggled, pulling out Yeong Hwa's cell phone. The display screen was blinking an announcement of a new text, which must have been the buzzing Yoogeun mistook for a bee. Forcing herself to find the humor in the situation and smile, Yeong Hwa thanked Seo Hyeon and took the cell phone from the little girl's grip. Proud of herself, Seo Hyeon skipped back to join her brother on his journey to the park. Sighing, Yeong Hwa slowly followed behind and flipped open her cell phone to see who was bothering to text her.

I want coffee. Buy me some while you're out

Of course now would be when he decided to start ordering her around. Just when she was beginning to think he wasn't all that bad, he just had to go and prove her wrong. It figured that that would be how Myung Soo would be. He already was taking advantage of a poor, innocent girl that was just trying to make enough money to avoid having to live on the streets.

"Jerk" Yeong Hwa hissed, snapping the phone shut and stuffing it deep into her pocket. Five seconds later, her cell phone started buzzing again. Groaning, Yeong Hwa pulled it out and checked her messages, again, to see what it was the guy wanted this time.

And kimchi

"Kimchi?!" Yeong Hwa complained, grimacing at just the thought of the disgusting thing. Yes she was Korean, and yes she knew that Kimchi was kind of the Korean thing, but she had never been able to stand the stuff. It smelled awful, and the taste wasn't worth how much the stuff cost. Heck, even if it cost a handful of dirt kimchi still wouldn't be worth it's price!

Plus, what kind of a combination was coffee and kimchi?! Myung Soo was definitely the weirdest guy Yeong Hwa had ever met, and probably would remain so until the day she died. Or when aliens took over the world. There were probably a few aliens who were weirder than Myung Soo, although they would have to be trying pretty hard to pull it off. There were always those who were willing to challenge what others deemed impossible, though. Heck, aliens would have had to travel light years just to come to Earth, so the challenge of outweirding Myung Soo wouldn't be that big a deal.

Are you there?

"Impatient much, Myung soo?" Yeong Hwa thought, pulling out the keyboard on her phone and quickly typing in a message.

Yes your majesty. Whatever you say your highness.

Does his excellence want anything else?

just get me my coffee and kimchi.

Smirking, Yeong Hwa slipped her phone into her pocket. Once again the action was pointless, though, as her phone started buzzing the second it got settled. After a short debate on whether or not she should look at the message, Yeong Hwa's curiosity got the better of her and she pulled out the cellphone.

and how do you text a word like excellence?

You just did

That's not what I meant

I know ;)

"Boys" Yeong Hwa thought, rolling her eyes as she put her phone in her pocket for the umpteenth time. This time, though, she took a premptive strike and turned off her phone in order to prevent any further disruptions. Now, able to focus entirely on the twins, Yeong Hwa hurried to catch up with the speedy little angels. Once that was done, she slipped her hands into theirs and led them down the last block to the park.

"So what do you guys want to eat?" Yeong Hwa asked as they passed through the wrought iron gate that was used for the park's entrance. Pursing her lips in thought, Seo Hyeon looked around at their surroundings for some sort of food item to jump out at her. Yoogeun, on the other hand, had apparently given some thought to this before and was eager to speak up.

"Ice cream!"

"Gaeran Tost-u!" Seo Hyeon spoke up a second later, her eyes lighting up at the thought of the twins' new favorite food. Unfortunately, Yeong Hwa was pretty sure she wouldn't be able to supply either of these things at the moment. One was impractical for breakfast, and the other... she wasn't entirely sure if anyone even sold Gaeran Tost-u, and especially in a park.

Sighing, she rubbed at the back of her neck awkwardly and tried to think of an excuse. "Well... how about we see what we can do" she finally decided on, regretting having asked the twins what they wanted to eat. It was obvious four year olds would have no idea what they could and couldn't have, and she hardly wanted to be the bad guy that told them no after just asking what they wanted.

The answer seemed to satisfy the twins, though, and soon the happy trio were heading along one of the many pathways in search of food. The peaceful happiness didn't last for long, though. Yeong Hwa shouldn't have expected it to, of course. Taking care of two little kids, you always ought to expect the unexpected.

"Gaeran Tost-u!" Seo Hyeon shrieked in delight, pointing frantically down another path as the scent of something cooking drifted towards the three. Yeong Hwa wasn't so sure that was actually what they were smelling, though, but before she could explain things to Seo Hyeon the little girl had broken free of Yeong Hwa's grip and was sprinting at full speed down the path.

"Yah! Seo Hyeon!" Yeong Hwa called after her, scooping up Yoogeun and awkwardly trying to give chase to his twin while also carrying him. The whole setup really didn't work, and Yeong Hwa was forced to put Yoogeun down in order to keep up with Seo Hyeon. Unfortunately, Yoogeun was just as driven by hunger as his sister and took off the instant his feet touched the ground. Jaw dropping, Yeong Hwa watched helplessly as the twins rounded a corner and disappeared from view.

"Since... when... are kids... so fast?" she panted as she skidded around the corner. Dirt doesn't provide very good traction, though, and soon Yeong Hwa's feet flew out from underneath her. For a second she hovered mid-air, her heart stopping as the ground approached ominously. Then she was face first in the dirt, all limbs sprawled out awkwardly.

Neither of the twins paid any attention to their poor babysitters predicament, though, and simply continued running as though nothing had happened. Apparently food was more important than the loving care she had given them over the past while. Like big brother like little siblings, apparently.

"And wouldn't Myung Soo be having a hay day with this" Yeong Hwa thought, already picturing the arrogant Kingkas mocking face when he learned about today's events. Not that he would, of course. At least, Yeong Hwa didn't plan on telling him. No sense in handing him even more ammunition that would then be used to try and shoot her dead. "Stupid, arrogant, obnoxious-"

"Are you alright?" a soft male voice asked from overhead. Surprised that someone else was around this early in the morning, Yeong Hwa looked up to see who was addressing her.

Boy did she wish she hadn't.

"You're bleeding!" Sung Jong gasped, gently placing Seo Hyeon and Yoogeun on the ground beside him so that he could check on her. Cautiously Yeong Hwa brought the back of her hand up to her nose, which had taken the brunt of her fall and let out a river of blood. Groaning, Yeong Hwa scrambled to her knees and tried to avoid looking Sung Jong directly in the face.

It figured that, out of the entire population of Seoul, it would have to be another friend of Myung Soo's who came across her. Not only did he have to find her as the babysitter of Yoogeun and Seo Hyeon, though, but he also got to bear witness to her incredible failure of a fall and now embarrassing bloody nose. "Wonderful! Amazing! Thank you God! You have no idea how much this made my day!" Yeong Hwa thought hysterically, glaring skyward.

"Here, we should get you cleaned up" Sung Jong cooed, reaching out to help Yeong Hwa to her feet. In a moment of panic, Yeong Hwa slapped his hand away to keep him from touching her. She knew he was just trying to help her, and that it wasn't Sung Jong's fault that he was the wrong person to come around, but... she just couldn't let Sung Jong know who she was! Yes he was the nicest out of the Infinite members, probably due to his youth and naivety, but he was still loyal to his Hyungs! Of course he would run up and tell them the second he-

"Nae Yeong Hwa, let me help you!" Sung Jong snapped, placing his hands on his hips and frowning down at Yeong Hwa.

Eyes widening, Yeong Hwa turned to face Sung Jong with her jaw hanging wide open. "You know?" She gasped. Sighing, Sung Jong nodded and helped her to her feet. This time, Yeong Hwa didn't resist. What was the use? Sung Jong already knew who she was, although how he could tell who she was through all the dirt and blood was a mystery to Yeong Hwa. A lot of things were a mystery when it came to Infinite, and Yeong Hwa was finding that she really didn't like not understanding these mysteries.

"Now come on, let's get you cleaned up" Sung Jong urged, pulling Yeong Hwa in the direction of one of the many wooden benches that lined the park's path. Sighing, she reluctantly allowed herself to be guided onto the seat, and then for Sung Jong to wet a handkerchief and wash away the dirt and blood that had caked onto her face.

"You're going to get that all dirty" Yeong Hwa mumbled, brushing away Sung Jong's handerkchief in order to use the back of her sleeve to staunch the flow of blood. Frowning, Sung Jong pulled her arm away and pinned it to the bench while using his free hand to finish wiping her face clean. For being a sixteen year old pretty boy, Sung Jong was surprisingly strong. Of course Yeong Hwa didn't want to accidentally hurt him, so she wasn't struggling quite as strong as she could, but still... it was yet another mystery that Infinite's youngest member had.

Once he was finished cleaning her face up, and her bloody nose finally stopped, Sung Jong sat on the bench beside Yeong Hwa and waited for her to talk about what was on her mind. In front of them, the twins awkwardly shuffled their feet, apparently feeling bad about having inadvertently hurt Yeong Hwa. So, as much as she wanted to quickly secure Sung Jong's silence, Yeong Hwa felt obliged to assure the twins that she wasn't angry with them or anything.

"Hey, it wasn't your fault" she sighed, pulling the both of them into a quick hug. Sniffling, Seo Hyeon looked up at Yeong Hwa with obvious guilt in her eyes.

"You're not mad?" she asked hesitantly, probably preparing for the worst of Yeong Hwa's fury. Smiling, Yeong Hwa shook her head and tenderly mussed Seo Hyeon's hair. Wiping away a stray tear, Seo Hyeon tried to put her hair back into place with a slight annoyed expression on her face. Chuckling quietly, Yeong Hwa turned to Yoogeun.

"I'm hungry" she declared, holding his stomach as it growled loudly. Laughing, Sung Jong scooped up Yoogeun and pointed in the direction the twins had been heading earlier.

"There's a pretzel stand down that way. We could pick up breakfast there" he suggested, looking back at Yeong Hwa for confirmation. Nodding, she took Seo Hyeon's hand and followed Sung Jong and Yoogeun to this pretzel stand that they had apparently discovered. It was probably some little mobile stand that had a stand of warm pretzels on top and a kind old lady handing out the delicious treats. Something sweet and simple like that would definitely suit the park, and Yeong Hwa found herself actually looking forward to the scene she expected to see.

That wasn't what she saw, though.

As they rounded the corner, Yeong Hwa couldn't help but let her jaw drop as she was faced with the "pretzel" stand. What had originally been imagined as a small snack cart now turned out to be a long avenue of restaurants and snack shops, occasionally broken up by a bauble shop. What was meant to accomodate hundreds, maybe thousands, of people was instead only holding a few dozen as they milled about the various restaurants. It made sense, since the lunch rush hadn't quite arrived yet and, despite it being summer, not many people flocked to outdoor places like this.

"Pretty amazing, isn't it?" Sung Jong asked, grinning at Yeong Hwa as he gestured to the shopping avenue behind him. Dumbstruck, Yeong Hwa could only manage to nod as she stepped forward to join him.

"When did this get here?" was the first thing out of as the four started heading down the avenue, her eyes roaming along the various restaurant's fronts. Beside her, Sung Jong couldn't help but watch his noona's surprise at this discovery with pride. It wasn't often the youngest of the group got to show his superiors something that surprised them.

"It's only been open for about a week now, but already the place is really popular. Usually the majority of people who show up come later in the day, though" Sung Jong explained, gesturing to the obvious lack of pressing crowds. Only half-listening, Yeong Hwa managed to give Sung Jong a small acknowledging nod as she spun in circles to try and take in all of the shopping avenue. It was like an outdoor mall, except malls were pretty lame and this... wasn't.

Mostly so because of all the mouth watering scents that drifted along the slight summer breeze, making Yeong Hwa's stomach growl as reminder of it's lack of food. Frowning down at the traitorous organ, Yeong Hwa subtly wrapped her arms tightly around her stomach in order to try and stifle the noise.

If she was excited then the twins were ecstatic, though. It took all of Yeong Hwa's focus to keep her eyes on the pair of them as they skipped along the avenue, looking around at this new and exciting place. They had entirely forgotten their previous gripes about being hungry, which Yeong Hwa supposed was good. Who knew how long it would take to get to this pretzel place?

Actually, it didn't take all that long. After just a few short minutes they came to one of the smaller buildings in the area, jammed between a Thai food restaurant and a Burger King. It wasn't quite as magnificent as the restaurants that surrounded it, but Yeong Hwa actually preferred the simplistic design when compared to the other restaurants. It felt more homey, although Yeong Hwa knew that it was a bit silly to feel "homey" about a pretzel shop.

"A lot more than a bit" she thought, sighing inwardly as she coralled the twins inside. Sung Jong had already approached the counter and was pointing towards a glass display case filled with large, fluffy pretzels that had salt crystals the size of pebbles embedded onto them. That couldn't be healthy, but it definitely looked good. Besides, what was a little indulgence every now and again? It wasn't like it could kill her or anything.

"Here, I can pay for us" Yeong Hwa offered, tapping Sung Jong on the shoulder and gesturing to herself and the twins. Sung Jong seemed hesitant about making her pay for her own food after being the one to take them here, but Yeong Hwa was equally hesitant about imposing on him like this. Especially since she was going to have to make him promise not to tell her secret to anyone. That was kind of a big deal.

"I could pay for you, too. I am the oldest-" Yeong Hwa stopped mid-sentence as she reached into her pocket, only to discover two things: A) she had no pockets, and B) she therefore had no money. Blushing deeply, Yeong Hwa awkwardly played with the hem of her shirt as she glanced up at Sung Jong, who was smiling sympathetically.

Since when did she have to look up to him? When they first met he was shorter than her by a good couple of inches, and now it seemed like that same difference in height had decided to switch teams and favor Sung Jong! It was crazy how fast boys grew, and how little you noticed they did until you really took a good look at them...

"Focus! Stop getting off track now that you're in an awkward situation!" Yeong Hwa snapped at herself, rubbing at the back of her neck as she watched Sung Jong wordlessly pay for all four pretzels. Groaning inwardly, Yeong Hwa bowed her head in humiliation and reluctantly accepted the pretzel Sung Jong was offering her. Once the food had been distributed, the four headed back out of the pretzel shop in order to find somewhere to eat.

"It's okay, Noona. Sung Jongie's nice" Yoogeun comforted, taking Yeong Hwa's hand in his own and pulling him along with her as he followed Sung Jong.

"Sung Jongie?" Yeong Hwa asked, trying not to chuckle at the amusing nickname. Up ahead she could see Sung Jong's ears burning a slight red as he caught the discussion between the two behind him. Smiling, Yeong Hwa scooped Yoogeun up in one arm and hurried to catch up with the young maknae.

"Is that what Infinite calls you?" she asked, coming up beside Sung Jong. Nodding, he tried to avoid looking at Yeong Hwa as they came across a small circle of picnic tables. Choosing the nearest one, all four sat down and began enjoying their brunch. "How come?" Yeong Hwa continued pressing, picking off bits of the pretzel and popping them into . Sung Jong hadn't been lying when he said these things were good!

"I dunno. I guess just because" he shrugged, focusing intently on tracing the grain of the wooden table with his finger. Smiling, Yeong Hwa rested her chin in the palm of her hand and propped her elbow up on the table.

"It suits you" she complimented before taking another bite of her pretzel. Glancing up, Sung Jong rolled his eyes.

"Because I'm young?" he asked. Shaking her head, Yeong Hwa offered Yoogeun a piece of her pretzel when she noticed that he had already finished his and was looking hungrily at Seo Hyeon's, probably contemplating on whether he could get away with stealing his sister's. Thankfully the tragedy that would have ensued had Yoogeun gone through with his plan of thievery was avoided when he gratefully accepted Yeong Hwa's offering and gobbled it in one go.

"Because you're sweet," Yeong Hwa explained, handing over the remaining half of her pretzel to Yoogeun when he looked up at her with big, hungry black eyes. Who could have said no?

"Sweet?" Sung Jong asked, wanting a better explanation than what she had given him. Sighing, Yeong Hwa folded her arms on the table and rested her chin on them.

"None of the other members would have done this, except maybe Myung Soo. But that's just becaues these are his brother and sister. The other members would have just laughed at me, and then proceed to inform the entire school about my career choice," she explained, shrugging her shoulders.

"I don't think so" Sung Jong said, apparently not about to condone his Hyungs.

"Myung Soo is already blackmailing me" Yeong Hwa replied flatly, remembering the nuclear bomb-like pictures he had one his cell phone.

"Really? L is?" Sung Jong asked, his eyes widening in honest surprise. It was cute how much he trusted his friends, if not a little annoying. Smiling wanly, Yeong Hwa nodded and tried to block out all memories of her dressed up as a "pretty princess". Even the slightest thought made her shudder. "Are they that bad?" Sung Jong asked sympathetically.

"Yes" Yeong Hwa groaned as she absentmindedly helped Yoogeun off the bench so that he could play with Seo Hyeon. Before the conversation could progress further, Sung Jong's cellphone suddenly began buzzing inside his pocket. Smiling apologetically, he pulled it out and read the incoming text.

"I have to go" he apologized, sliding off the bench and preparing to leave.

"Hey, you have to promise not to tell anyone" Yeong Hwa insisted, leaning across the table towards Sung Jong.

"Alright" he agreed. Smiling in relief, Yeong Hwa spat on her hand and extended it to Sung Jong. At the same time, Sung Jong extended his pinky towards Yeong Hwa. Both teenagers regarded each other with mild confusion, and on Sung Jong's part utter disgust, until Yeong Hwa eventually gave up and wrapped her own pinky around his.

"You didn't spit on your pinky, too, did you?" Sung Jong asked, glancing down at their hands.

"Don't worry, it's clean" she chuckled.

Nodding, Sung Jong finished off the pinky promise. "You can't tell anyone" Yeong Hwa insisted, leaning in close to Sung Jong with a slight threat in her tone.

"I promise"
