015: Games (Pt. 2)
Her New Normal
Sol was wrong, this wasn't just the small weekday get-together that she thought it would be. It took until the fourth knock on the door, when the group of three guys--each carrying a twelve-pack of beers--walked in, to realize that they were all planning on getting at least tipsy. "Kim Jongin, put that down." She warned as she got up from her seat at the table, where she'd been having a nice chat with Joohyun.
Jongin looked up as he used his key to puncture the side of his beer can, there was a flash of hesitation in his eyes as she got near, but then some random guys started cheering him on, and suddenly Jongin was shotgunning the entire thing.
The finger Sol had been wagging crushed into her fist as she sighed. Someone turned the music up even louder and Sol had to bite down on her tongue to stop herself from yelling that it was a literal Tuesday.
"You look stressed out." The sudden appearance of his voice beside her made Sol look away from Jongin, who was now wiping the sides of his mouth. Sehun was giving her that look--the one that was hard to put into words but anyone who knows him would be able to picture it. The glint in his eyes, the small tug at the corner of his lips. She had to force her eyes off of his mouth.
"My best friend has already surpassed his limit, and it's not even nine o'clock yet. So, yes, I'm worried, not stressed." Sol knew Jongin was a lightweight since before she was back in town; afterall, she was the one who he always called when he got a little too wasted and felt that urge to just rant about anything and everything. She always found some humor in it, but she never encouraged it.
Sehun folded his arms, "I think you need to relax a little bit. Were you always this uptight?"
He knows the answer is yes, but he enjoys seeing the look of irritation that crosses her face. "I am not uptight." She says between gritted teeth, folding her arms to match his stance, and, finally, turning away from Jongin. They stand there facing each other, annoyance in her eyes, and a little bit of shock in his. He forgot how good it felt to have her undivided attention. To not have her eyes wander as she looks for an excuse to walk away, but to have them stay locked with his.
He relishes in it for a moment, and then he latches on to the first thought that might help keep it going. "Then, do you want to play hide-and-seek?" It was the first game to cross his mind.
"Oh Sehun, what are you? Five?"
"I'm keeping a hold of my youth." He shoots back.
Before she can even tell him that he's ridiculous, Baekhyun--who had been walking up behind them, flings an arm over Sehun's shoulders, "Did you say you guys were playing hide-and-seek?"
Sehun smirk turned up into a full smile, "Yeah, Sol really wants to play!"
Baekhyun nodded as he looked at his sister, somehow fully believing his best friend's lie, "Say less, Sehun, we can play hide-and-seek." Baekhyun pounced away, going to multiple groups of people and telling them the plan.
Before they knew it, Sehun and Jinsol were standing beside each other with their phones flashlights on. Somehow, normal hide-and-seek had turned into flashlight-hide-and-seek, where you turn all the lights out and the person (or in this case: people) who have to try and find everyone with just their flashlight lighting up the way. Since there are a good thirty people here, Baekhyun said that two people could be it, and even went as far as offering up Sehun and Jinsol to be it; seeing as how they were the people who wanted to play to begin with.
They'd been shoved into the walk-in pantry so they didn't catch a glimpse of anyone hiding--and it wasn't the giant kind of walk in either. It was the type where you could take all of half a step in any direction. Sehun was far too close for comfort. "I hate you, Oh Sehun." She said, but was clearly just tired.
Sehun smiled to himself, "You can't even pretend to mean it anymore."
Sol scoffed, trying to ignore the rising heat in her cheeks. Luckily for her, from somewhere outside she could faintly hear Chanyeol yell "Everyone's ready!" Jinsol looked over at Sehun, prepared to say something like 'let's get this over with', but then she lifted her head so she could see his shadowed face, only to find that he was already looking down at her. How did they end up so close? Stupid pantry. She hates to admit it, but her breath kind of got knocked out of her--in the way it does when you get punched in the gut. Oh Sehun was a blow right to the windpipe, even now.
Sehun must have seen it written on her face, because his lip tugged up and she could have sworn he bent down a little bit. "Did you just realize how handsome I am?"
I've always known how handsome you are, I'm not blind. "Stop fishing for a compliment, we have a game to win." They'd decided that each team of' seekers had ten minutes to find everyone, or else they would lose. Sol opened the pantry door and walked out, why does she always get so overheated in small spaces? She must be claustrophobic.
Sehun walked behind her, his own
