Chapter 22

From Strangers, To Not So Much

I woke up to pain radiating all through my arms and back. Ugh what the hell! Taeyong was right. I turned around in my bed slowly while thinking of the conversation I had with my sibling a few days ago.

“Why are you painting the house? Why not have someone come and do it for you?” Taeyong questioned over the phone. I couldn’t help but heave a sigh as I scrolled through the website for all of the paint colors I would need, holding my phone to between my right ear and shoulder.

“I thought it would be fun.” I mumbled before glancing at the clock to see it was eight in the evening.

“Sure painting is fun, dear. But the whole house? Don’t you think that's a bit of an overkill?” Sora asked this time and I took the phone and placed it on my left side.

“Yeah I am slowly starting to regret this decision. But it won’t be just me and Johnny. His friends are coming to help out too.” I mentioned before taking the phone and snapping pictures of the different colors I had picked. I sent them to Sora and Anna who just started talking.

“Oh so you invite them but you don’t invite us?” I blinked at my phone before placing it back on my ear.

“Do you want to come help paint?” I asked, knowing full well what her answer would be.

“Oh God no! Sorry but I’m not that insane.” Anna retorted but I heard a scoff.

“Are you sure about that?” I heard Doyoung and I started laughing when I heard Anna gasp.

“Oh! That’s a pretty shade of deep red! And that baby blue is beautiful!” Sora exclaimed and I clicked those two colors to my basket.

“Black and white? Well that will be a classy look.” Anna said and I added those two colors also.

“I still think it’s a bad idea for you all to be painting the whole house.” Taeyong said.

“Maybe just stick to painting the first floor tomorrow? That house is big and there is a lot of wall space you will need to cover.” Doyoung mentioned and I heaved another sigh.

“Yeah I guess that makes sense.” I said as I paid for the paint. “I will invite you guys once we finish the painting and furnishing. Well, I might need your guy’s help on the furnishing.”

“Of course! I will be happy to help.” Sora happily said.

“Call us if you need any more help with anything, ok?” Taeyong asked and I hummed in agreement.

And it started off fun! The guys came over and we talked about how everyone was doing.

The doorbell rang and Johnny walked towards the door, carefully avoiding the paint buckets. Johnny was able to open the door a tad bit before it flung open and Ten walked dramatically in holding a cup holder filled with various cups.

“You would not believe the wait we had to go through just to get five cups of coffee.” Ten exclaimed while gesturing wildly towards items he was holding. “You would think the secret to youth is in the coffee with the way the long line was. It’s nine in the morning! Why are people up so early?” Ten grumbled while handing me a cup.

“Thank you Ten, you didn’t have to though.” I said, feeling slightly guilty for making them come here so early in the morning. I looked at Johnny, who was glaring at Ten before turning to close the door.

“Are you kidding? The reviews at the place were all five stars. Naturally we had to try it out. And of course, Johnny needs his coffee or he won’t be able to function properly.” Jaehyun said while Ten walked over to Johnny and gave him the biggest cup on the tray.

“We also brought food! Are you hungry?” Mark asked while standing next to me.

“I’m starving!” Ten said before sitting down on one of the paint buckets with a huff.

“Let me get some tissues then.” I said and ran to the kitchen to grab the roll of kitchen towels that was placed neatly in the corner. I walked back to the entrance to see 5 paint buckets placed in a circle next to Ten, all the guys sitting down with one spot open between Mark and Ten. I sat down slowly, hoping the bucket was sturdy, before placing the towels in the middle. Mark handed me a wrapped parcel, which smelled delicious. Opening it, it was a sausage biscuit with egg and cheese. I took a small bite, making sure no crumbs fell on me or the floor.

“Last week was horrible! We couldn’t come up with any kind of compromise with the board of directors. Any time I felt like we had a breakthrough, someone would have something against the idea and everyone was at each other’s throats. Over and over again we had to keep switching the ideas until yesterday we finally came with a conclusion that everyone could handle.” Jaehyun was complaining before he took a swig from his cup. “Why is it so hard to find one common ground between everyone?” Jaehyun sighed and Johnny, who was next to him, patted him on the shoulder.

“My dad left me to fend for myself after he left the country for a meeting in Japan. It was as if the shareholders were waiting for this because the next thing I know, they’re all hosting a meeting on something my father made sure we would not be doing. Like, what is wrong with people? The moment power gets to their head, they completely forget about morality.” Ten huffed while shaking his head.

“How was your week Hana? Was it at least better than ours?” Mark asked while turning towards me and I nodded my head.

“It wasn’t eventful, really. I just went to class and came home. Nothing out of the ordinary.” I said. Mark nodded and Jaehyun started speaking.

“I miss going to college! There was nothing to worry about except going to class and then going back home. The only time someone talked to us was to invite us to a party!”

“Don’t forget assignments! We still have a lot of things to do.” Mark said and that was when it dawned on me.

“Mark?” I asked, causing the guy to turn in my direction. “Aren’t you also graduating in two months?”

“Oh my gosh! You both are graduating at the same time!” Ten yelled, causing me to flinch slightly.

“We need to plan how we’re going to celebrate.” Jaehyun muttered, before taking another swig of his coffee.

“I want to go to an amusement park!” Mark said and then looked at me with gleaming eyes. “What do you say Hana?”

“An amusement park can be fun!” I said but Ten started to shake his head.

“We should go to one of our summer homes and visit the beach.” Ten said and I couldn’t help but smile at the thought of visiting the water.

“It’s Mark and Hana’s graduation though. Let them pick.” Johnny muttered before drinking his coffee. I looked at Mark, who was pouting at Ten, and I looked at Ten, who was staring down Mark. Might as well.

“I think the amusement park can be a great place to visit. It’ll be fun!” I said and noticed the gleam in Mark’s eyes was back. Awww.

“See! Only Hana and Johnny care about me!” Mark harrumphed before he chugged down his coffee.

“They act like your parents at this point.” Jaehyun pointed out.

A loud beeping shook me out of my thoughts and realized it was my alarm. I got up, with a string of curses following suit, and went to the restroom to get ready for the morning. Once I was finished, I quickly skipped my way down the stairs and headed into the kitchen to start on breakfast. The time on top of the oven read 8:40 and figured twenty minutes should be enough to have at least half of the things ready before everyone came downstairs. I scurried around the kitchen, grabbing all the ingredients I would need and was really glad that Uncle had stocked up on everything when Johnny and I were busy. He even stocked up on whipped cream. Hehehe I’m going to have a field day with this. I grabbed the canister and placed it on the counter before tying all of my hair up and then washed my hands. I grabbed a bowl and started mixing the ingredients for pancakes when I heard my phone go off. Turning around towards the counter to see my phone vibrating along, I grabbed it and answered it when I noticed it was Doyoung.

“Morning!” I said as I continued to whisk away at the bowl.

“Hey. Are you busy?” he asked and I placed the phone in between my shoulder and my ear.

“Nope, just preparing breakfast. What’s up?” I asked.

“Well…Anna’s birthday was coming up and I was wondering if you had any ideas on what I can give her.” He said while sighing and I couldn’t help but laugh.

“You know my sister, Doyoung. She is happy with anything you give her. If anything, she might even be happier if you spend the day with her then getting her anything.” I commented. I glanced at the oven and noticed it was nearing nine so I the stove to cook some bacon.

“I know, but I still want to get her something.” He said and I tried to think of anything she might want. “Did she talk to you about anything she’s been wanting recently?”

“I’m sorry but no. Hmm.” I thought about it and placed bacon on a pan before walking towards the fridge to grab some eggs. “Oh! Why not take her to Paris? She was telling me about wanting to go there last week.” I said and grabbed another pan and placed it on the stove.

“Ok. I can do that. But what can I get her?” He asked again and I couldn’t help but humm in confusion. I poured a bit of batter into the second pan before going to another cabinet to grab another pan for the eggs.

“You know I remember her telling me last month that there was a charm bracelet she saw one of her friends was wearing. It was the type where you can keep adding charms too and she said it would be nice to have something like that.” I finished saying before cracking an egg into a bowl to make omelets. I then walked back to the fridge to grab some cheese and veggies before hurrying back to the stove.

“Hana you are a genius! Thank you!” Doyoung yelled and I couldn’t help but laugh again before I wished him luck and quickly hung up. I turned all of the bacon over and grabbed a chopping board from under the sink. I was washing the vegetables and drying them with paper towels and then ran back to the stove to turn the pancake. Another pair of hands appeared at my left side and I turned to see Johnny drying the rest of the produce.

“Oh you don’t have to do that!” I said quickly walking towards him but he smiled at me before shaking his head.

“I want to help. Besides, they will wake up soon and let me tell you, you do not want to be around them so early when they have no coffee or food.” Him saying coffee reminded me I needed to start the coffee pot and pour the beans in the grinder. Johnny must have seen me look at the grinding machine in the corner because he walked over then and started on the coffee.

“Thank you. How do they act so early in the morning? It can’t be that bad, right?” I asked but started laughing when Johnny gave me a look from over his shoulder. I took the pancake out and started another batch. I took the bacon off and placed it on the cooking rack and went back to the produce to chop up the dried vegetables. It was quiet but it was peaceful. Johnny had helped with the rest of the chopping while I had gone back to the pancakes. Once I was done with that, I had started on the omelets, taking the chopped vegetables and a bit of the bacon. As soon as I had finished with the last omelet, I heard grumbling coming from behind and turned to see Uncle leading the three males, who looked half asleep, into the kitchen.

“As you instructed Johnny.” Uncle said with a bow and Johnny nodded at the man,

“It’s too early to be awake! We slept late last night you know!” Mark complained before stomping over to the stools that were behind the counter and plopped himself down and laid his head on the table.

“Agreed! Waking us up this early is a crime.”Ten said, following behind Mark and placed his elbows on the table and his head in his hands, glaring at Johnny.

“An extra hour wouldn’t have hurt.” Jaehyun grumbled and walked to the last stool while yawning and sat down.

“It’s 9:30. How much later did you want to wake up?” Johnny asked with a raised eyebrow. I grabbed their plates with the omelets and placed them next to each guy, along with their own utensils. I then placed the stacks of pancakes and the plate of bacon in front of them, causing each one of them to eye the meal. I quickly ran to grab the can of whipped cream and some fruits I had washed earlier while I made Johnny go pour the coffee for everyone. That seemed to have done the trick because no one was grumbling anymore and was more focused on the food in front of them. I handed Johnny a plate when I noticed paint stains on my arms and sighed at the memory of yesterday.

“Watch out!” I heard and turned around to see Mark holding the sprayer of the machine, which at the moment was pointed at me. I quickly covered my eyes but let out a shriek when I felt the cold liquid hitting me and everyone else yelling random things in the background. When I felt the liquid stop coming, I opened my eyes to see Johnny on the floor covered in paint with a bucket lying next to him, Jaehyun holding the paint tube where the sprayer was connected to and was also covered in paint, Ten sitting on top of the ladder with a shocked face, and Mark still holding the sprayer but frozen in his place. I glanced down at myself to see that I was covered in red from top to bottom and tried to wipe the paint that was dripping from my hair to my face.

“Mark…what the ?” I heard Ten whisper and I looked back at Mark, and I couldn’t help but laugh. He had quickly dropped the spray and hid his hands behind his back and Ten also started laughing. Johnny slowly stood up and wiped off as much paint as he could on his shirt with his hands, but he seemed to be only making it worse. Mark looked at me and had a very nervous smile on his face.

“Sorry Hana. But in my defense Johnny bumped into me!” Mark yelled while pointing at Johnny, who in turn stared at Mark with wide eyes and pointed to himself.

“Don’t put the blame on me! Who put the paint tray there?!” Johnny questioned while pointing to the spot behind him and I felt the heat rushing to my cheeks.

“Oh, hehe. That was me. So sorry.” I said while giving a sheepish smile. This time I heard Jaehyun laughing and looked over to see him on the floor cackling.

“You know, as fun as this is, I don’t think it would be safe for us to continue painting this house.” Ten said while leaning on his knees. I looked up at him before looking at Johnny, who was looking at me.

“That might be the safer idea huh?” I asked him and bit my lip. I felt really bad. We had been at this for about four hours and everyone was tired and it was my stupid idea that we were doing this in the first place. I should have picked something more fun to do…

“Ten get down from there. I’ll have Uncle show you guys to your rooms and wash out the paint. Hana, come with me.” I heard Johnny and I looked at him to see him motion at me to follow him down the hall. I looked down and followed him, trying to calm my heart down. ‘He’s probably going to yell at me isn’t he? I made such a mess of things.’ I stopped walking when I noticed we had entered the kitchen and Johnny was washing a towel in the sink. I slowly walked up behind him still looking down and my arms clasped in front of me.

“Johnny I’m so so sor-” There was a wet feeling on my head and I glanced up to see him use a wet towel and gently tried to peel off the paint that was in my hair.

“You didn’t do anything wrong.” He said before he looked down at me with a small smile. “We were all going for it right? We did our best and we had fun with it.” He said before looking back to my hair and kept trying to pull the paint off. I wanted to believe him but it was my fault. If I hadn’t suggested it in the first place, none of this would have happened. I then felt my head being pushed forward and two arms wrapped around me tight. “Why are you crying?” I heard him ask and quickly brought my hands up to my face and felt the tears pouring out of my eyes.

“I’m sorry.”I whispered. “This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have even suggested this. My siblings even warned me about this but-” I hiccuped and covered my mouth and closed my eyes when I felt the tears starting to flow even more. I tried to move out of his grasp because I was embarrassed but he tugged me back even tighter.

“You’re not at fault. Believe me when I say you didn’t do anything wrong. And I can prove it. Ten won’t do something he’s not comfortable doing. If he thought this was a bad idea he would have already said something about it, called you an idiot, and walked out of the house. And he has shut down so many of our ideas in the past that we just wait for him to give a verdict before we even do anything. And the amount of times he’s gotten into fights with all of our families.” Johnny said with a chuckle.

“Maybe he didn’t say anything because he was trying to be nice.” I said back.

“That’s not Ten. He doesn’t care who you are. If he doesn’t like something, he will make sure you know he doesn’t like it. And remember the game Jaehyun talked about where we all go severely hurt. Of course there were a few bruises here and there but we all had fun. This was nothing compared to that day. No one got hurt, everyone got a little paint on them, but it was fun.” Johnny stepped back and tugged on my bang. “Ok?” He asked. I nodded, but I still felt bad. “I probably shouldn’t have hugged you though. There’s more paint all over your face.” He said while looking down at his shirt with a frown and I started laughing.

“At least your face got saved from the paint.” I responded, still laughing and he ruffled his hair, causing the paint to splatter more on me, which caused me to yelp.  Johnny chuckled before nodding his head back towards the hall.

“Go get cleaned up and then we can talk about what we can do next, ok?” He asked and I nodded before walking away slowly.

“When are we leaving for the park?” Ten asked as he aggressively cut into a pancake. At the word of park, Mark’s head perked up before looking at everyone with a grin.

“How about now?!” He asked but Jaehyun and Ten shook their heads.

“It’s still too early. I’m not awake yet.” Jaehyun mumbled before he threw his head back and chugged the rest of his coffee. I eyed him for a second before turning to my cup that was in front of me. I slowly reached my finger out to touch it, only to quickly flinch back when it burned me and glanced at Jaehyun who was glaring at his empty cup. I went and got the coffee pot and placed it in front of him, which he eagerly took and poured it in his cup to the rim. ‘That’s his third cup! And he’s still not awake?’ I blinked at the cup before turning to look at the oven clock, which was reading 10.

“We will leave in 30 minutes. That way we can get there by 11 and have a decent amount of time to spend there before coming home.” Johnny said before taking a sip of his coffee. I turned towards him before turning towards the guys.

“I think that would work. Would that be enough time for you guys?” I had asked and Ten grunted while Jaehyun chugged his coffee again. Mark jumped up excitedly and ran out of the kitchen. Jaehyun soon followed after, grumbling about “mornings” being the worst things to ever exist. I looked at Ten, who was drawing something on his plate absentmindedly with the syrup. He then looked at me slowly and pointed his fork in my direction.

“No roller coasters.” he said and I slowly nodded while staring at the fork before looking back at him. He nodded before taking his plate, and the others, and took it to the sink before walking away. Uncle then walked back in and bowed to us before he started speaking.

“Johnny, I hired two maids to help with the small things around the house like you had asked.” I frowned at the comment and was about to say something when Uncle spoke up again, this time his attention was on me. “ I know you had mentioned just taking care of the house by yourselves but it would be convenient to have some help in certain areas. They will only be here to help.” I couldn’t help but sigh and nod. He was right and I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle everything by myself. “Also I think you will approve of one of the maids.” Uncle said before turning towards the kitchen entry and nodding his head. I glanced towards the entryway to see Sena’s head pop over and grin.

“Sena!” I yelled while running towards her. She met me halfway and we hugged and jumped around. “I haven't seen you in so long!” I exclaimed while pulling away.

“I know right! It’s be- wait, why is your hair red?” Sena asked while pointing towards my bangs. I glanced up to see spots of paint still stuck and I couldn’t help but groan.

“It’s a long story.” I replied and a clearing of a throat stopped me from starting the events of yesterday.

“I don’t mean to come off rude Hana, but I know you all were planning to leave soon, yes?” Uncle asked and I gasped before turning towards Sena.

“He’s right! I will talk to you when I get back, ok?” I asked and she nodded before I gave her one final hug and stepped out of the kitchen and towards the staircase. I reached my room quickly and got dressed, noticing that I still had about 15 minutes before we all left. I looked at myself in the mirror and realized that the amount of washing I did last night left my hair frizzy so I grabbed it all into a bun and tied it up. Just as I finished, there was a knock on my door and I took one last look at myself before hurrying towards the door to open it. Ten stood on the other side, already ready with his hands in his pockets. He saw me and looked confused before turning his head towards the other end of the hall.

“I thought this was Johnny’s room.” He muttered and I pointed to the door right across from where we were standing.

“That’s his room.” I mentioned and Ten turned towards where I pointed before nodding his head. He then turned back towards me and tilted his head.

“Are you ready?” He asked and I glanced around my room trying to find my small backpack and other things I can pack.

“Almost. I just need to grab a few things.” I said and Ten nodded again before leaning on the door frame.

“I want to talk to you. Grab your things and then walk with me.” He said. I looked at him a little confused, but turned around and started to pack things in my backpack. Is he going to call me stupid? Maybe he wants to yell at me for yesterday. I realized the last thing I needed was my phone, which was downstairs, and turned towards Ten, who was looking down the hall again.

“Ready.” I said while putting the backpack on. He stood up straight and then sauntered away, me following a few steps behind. I could feel my anxiety rise but I squashed it down as best as I could, however, I froze when Ten suddenly turned towards me with a frown on his face.

“I am not a nice person.” He started and I couldn't help but blink at him stupidly.

“Huh?” Oh for goodness…Hana! Function!

“I am not a nice person. I have no reason to be nice. I will always say what is on my mind and I don’t care who you are or what you do. But you are my friend now. From the little time we have been together, you have shown me that you are a genuine person and not like those other stuck up elites. But that is why, as a friend, I was happy to help you with the painting yesterday. Yeah the paint made a mess of things and nothing seemed to be going right, but I had fun. So stop blaming yourself for being annoying or for the idea being a bad idea.” Ten grumbled the last bit and looked away while I was still staring at him before it registered just exactly what he said.

“Wait. How did you..?” I frowned but he turned his head back towards me.

“I heard you and Johnny talking when I had come down to grab my phone. You shouldn’t think about what other people have to say about you or care. You are your own person and it’s ok to make mistakes. None of us will hate you for it. Especially Johnny. I don’t think Johnny can ever hate you actually now that I think about it.” Ten glanced away again while I thought about the last sentence Ten had muttered. “Anyways!” Ten said before turning his head back. “Keep your head up. And none of us can hate you, ok?” He asked and I nodded my head before smiling. Ten also nodded his head before walking down the stairs, leaving me at the top to think about what he said.

“See, I told you.” I heard from behind me and turned to see Johnny walk up with a smile.

“Yeah…He was very blunt with it.” I said, causing Johnny to laugh. He then motioned for me to walk first down the stairs, him following behind me. As soon as we reached the bottom, I heard screaming and looked up to see Mark sprinting down the stairs with Jaehyun in tow. I felt a tug on my right arm and I moved back just in time for both of them to fly past me. Uncle had walked through the front door right at that moment, only to also jump out of the way when Mark came dashing up to him.

“You got a head start!” Jaehyun yelled at him as he too ran out the door. Uncle glanced at them both before turning towards us with a raised eyebrow. I turned and quickly ran towards the kitchen where my phone was and grabbed it before speed walking out towards the door, waving at Uncle in the process.

“We’ll see you later!” I said before glancing around to see them both yelling at each other while standing in front of Johnny’s car. I soon felt a hand on my back pushing me towards the car.

“Come on! Before they end up destroying my car.” Johnny said as he kept slowly pushing me towards the vehicle. Ten speed walked around us and swung his hand around Mark’s neck, causing the younger one to flail and get out of the older’s grip. “Or each other.” Johnny muttered. As soon as we reached his car, Johnny opened the front passenger side for me and gestured for me to get in.

“Are you sure? Maybe someone else would want to sit in front.” I asked but Johnny shook his head.

“Your safety is my priority. They’ll be fine.” He answered and closed the door as soon as I got in. My safety?

Johnny’s POV

Johnny did not want to imagine all the ruckus that would happen in the back of the car. Those three didn’t know how to sit still and did not hesitate to throw a punch at each other no matter if someone was in the crossfire. The last thing he needed was for Hana to obtain a bruise or scratch by being near those three. I really don’t want to answer to her brothers. Johnny gulped before he yelled at the others.

“Get in before I leave you three!” That caused the other three to get in, with poor Mark in the middle. Typical. Johnny got in and started the car and could only pray they all got to the park in one piece. Hana had pulled out her phone and was trying to figure out how to get there while the argument between his friends were in full fledge. Johnny looked at his wife and was surprised to see her sitting calmly while she looked up directions on her phone.

“They're not bothering you?” Johnny asked and Hana looked at him quizzically before turning her gaze on the guys behind her. She smiled before turning back towards him.

“They are a lot more tame compared to me and my siblings. Actually if you throw my cousins into the mix then the chaos is much much worse.” She giggled and Johnny couldn’t help but let out a grin.

“Johnny! How much longer?! They’re killing me back here!” Mark groaned but let out a yelp.

“Oh we’re killing you? Jaehyun, does he look dead to you?” Ten asked while throwing his arm around Mark again.

“No, he still looks very much alive.” Jaehyun said but Johnny could tell by the tone that Mark was in for some pain so he was glad when Hana motioned for him to turn into the parking lot of the park.

“That was fast.” Hana remarked and Johnny had to look at the three before turning his gaze on her.

“I have to be. Poor Mark had to sit in the middle of those two.” Hana looked at the trio before laughing and she stepped out of the car. Johnny walked out of his side before opening the door behind him, which Jaehyun was sitting in. “We’re here.” He said before moving away from the car to where Hana was standing.

“I was trying to see what kind of rides this park has, but they're mostly roller coasters.” Hana said while she scrolled through something on her phone.

“Is that a problem? Is it because of what Ten said?” Johnny asked but Hana shook her head.

“I have a really bad fear of heights.” Hana looked at him with wide eyes and Johnny suddenly felt bad about bringing her here. “But they have a lot of game stalls! Maybe I can finally win something!” Hana said before pumping her fist in the air. Johnny blinked before chuckling and then turned around towards the car to see if the rest of the occupants had gotten out. Seeing as they had, he locked the door and stuffed the keys in his pocket.  “I can hold onto that for you.” Hana said. He looked at her to see her taking off her backpack and opening it.

“Are you sure?” Johnny asked and Hana smiled at him before holding out her hand for the keys.”

“Yeah!” Hana said and Johnny handed her the keys, which she placed into her bag and placed the bag back over her shoulders.

“Hey! Romeo and Juliet!” Johnny felt his eyebrow twitch before glancing at his ‘friends’ who were behind them. He really didn’t like that nickname. “I bought the tickets online yesterday. We don’t need to wait in line to buy them.” Ten said while waving his phone around. Johnny nodded at them before glancing at Hana, who was standing next to him frozen.

“Hana?” Johnny asked before looking at where her eyes were glued to and saw it was one of the roller coasters. A really big one that had a huge dip and a few loops. It also didn’t help that there were people screaming on it as Hana tilted her head and looked around the whole ride. “I’m here.” He said while grabbing Hana’s hand gently. “No roller coasters, I promise.” Hana could only nod before she was pushed forward by an excited Mark.

“Come on Hana! You can’t just stand there. Let's go!” Mark yelled and Johnny watched the two with worry before he was smacked on the shoulder by Ten.

“Relax. The kid can’t even hurt a fly.” Ten said and Johnny glared at him before rubbing his shoulder.

“I know that! But she didn’t look that good when staring at the ride.” Johnny said as he glanced up at the ride Hana was looking at.

“Ten can stay with her when it comes down to it.” Jaehyun said as he passed them both and followed Mark and Hana.

“Don’t worry. I won’t let anything happen to her.” Ten said, which caused Johnny to scoff.

“That just added to my worries.” Johnny joked before he speed walked away from a stunned Ten.

“You take that back!” Ten yelled while chasing after his friend. Once they were in the park, Jaehyun and Mark had already run off towards the roller coasters as Hana watched them with a small smile. Ten looked at a few of the games that were being offered, but none caught his interest while Johnny was trying to find a place for them to sit and rest when Jaehyun and Mark were done.

“Anyone know what they want for lunch? I was glancing around at the food stalls and there were a few interesting things.” Hana asked as she tiredly sat on one of the side benches. Johnny knew they had only been at the park for about two hours but the summer heat was bothering all three of them. Ten suddenly left for a food stand, leaving the couple alone for a few minutes. Johnny saw the other two running towards another attraction and fondly shook his head. “Don’t you want to go on any rides?” Hana asked Johnny and he looked around the park.

“Not really. Nothing looks fun at the moment.” Johnny shrugged before leaning back on the bench, throwing an arm behind the side of the bench Hana was on. Hana took off her backpack and rummaged it through it before she pulled out her phone.

“We need pictures!” She said, as she pulled up her camera and started scanning the park for her targets. She saw Jaehyun and Mark at a water gun stall that was near them and she quickly took a couple pictures of them. Johnny was looking at the camera and couldn’t tell if any of the pictures she was taking was clear. He didn’t say anything though and just trusted the process. She soon turned the camera towards where Ten was, who looked grumpy, and took a few pictures of him too. After she seemed to be satisfied, she turned the camera to the selfie mode and leaned back into Johnny’s side. “Quick! Smile!”

“Alright.” Johnny answered before coming more into the frame and smiling. Hana snapped a few shots before she leaned away with a content smile. She pulled up the images and was scanning through all the pictures she had taken when Ten had come back with three drinks in his hand.

“Here.” Ten grumbled and handed Johnny two of the drinks before sitting on the other side of him. Johnny held on to Hana’s drink until she was done organizing the pictures. She started laughing then and Johnny’s attention was pulled to her phone.

“Look at Mark!” She said while laughing. She zoomed in one of the pictures she had taken and Mark’s face was red as he seemed to have been soaking wet. Johnny looked up from the pictures at the duo and mentally face-palmed when he saw Jaehyun spray the gun at Mark to make him lose focus.

“Oh that’s just not fair.” Ten said smirking as he got up and walked towards them. Johnny looked back at the phone and saw Hana looking at the picture of them both together. He glanced at her to see her smiling, softly and he looked back at the picture of them both. He and Hana soon looked up when they heard a scream and saw both Ten and Jaehyun take turns spraying Mark with water as Mark was trying to keep playing while trying to get rid of the water.

“We should go help.” Hana suggested as she stood up and placed her phone back in her backpack before placing her backpack on her back. Johnny stood up too and they both slowly walked towards the stand, waiting for the game to end when Johnny leaned down to Hana’s height.

“I’ll distract those two, you help Mark win.” Johnny whispered. Hana glanced up at him before looking back at Ten and Jaehyun. As soon as their turn finished, Hana jumped in quickly.

“I want to give it a turn!” She yelled before grabbing a water gun and smirked at the three.

“I’ll join.” Johnny said and grabbed another water gun. All five of them were standing in a line and Hana and Johnny looked at each other with a smirk. The bell went off and Hana aimed at her target and started laughing when she heard yells in the background. She tried to shoot as fast as she could but saw from her side that Jaehyun was also shooting as fast as he could. Hana glanced up to see Ten having Johnny’s full attention so she started shooting at Jaehyun instead, causing him to yell and lose sight of his target. Mark was oblivious to the yells as he kept going and ended up winning the game.

“I did it!” Mark yelled and Hana placed her gun down before quickly walking towards Johnny.

“I guess we deserved that didn’t we?” Ten asked while running his fingers through his wet hair. Jaehyun was watching Mark with a fond smile and Mark tried to figure out what prize he wanted.

“We still need to eat something. We’ve been here for about three hours.” Johnny said and looked down at Hana to see her staring at something at the next stall over. He reached over to grab her hand, which grabbed her attention too. “Do you want something from over there?” he asked. Hana looked at Johnny with a sheepish grin and pointed back at the stall.

“They have cotton candy. I was thinking of buying some after we ate something.” She said before glancing at the three who were still soaked. “Are you guys hungry?” She asked. They all nodded and they found another stall that sold pizza and sat down to eat their lunch.

“Are there any more rides you wanted to go on, Mark?” Ten asked and Mark pointed out a few he had his eyes set on when they first came in.

“Why don’t you join any Hana?” Jaehyun asked Hana, and she flushed before answering that heights are her worst fear.

“How bad is your fear?” Ten asked and Hana let out an embarrassed laugh.

“I can’t go down an escalator without freezing and panicking. I always need to use an elevator or stairs to get down.” Hana answered and Johnny looked at her with curiosity. Hana saw the gaze and heaved a sigh before answering. “Taeyong and Anna took me to a mall one day to try to get over my fear and they had me step on an escalator going down. Taeyong told me he would go first and Anna would be right behind me so I had nothing to be afraid of. And as soon as Taeyong got on, I tried to follow. I put one foot on the stair and I looked down and froze. I forgot my other foot was still back on the landing so I ended up doing the splits on the way down. Anna struggled to get me foot off from the top and have me standing.” All four guys stared at Hana as her cheeks started to burn.

“Did you try it again?” Mark asked and Hana nodded.

“The same day actually. This time Anna went first and Taeyong would be behind me. As soon as I placed a foot on the stair and looked down, I froze again and forgot to take my foot off the landing. I ended up doing the splits again and Taeyong struggled to straighten me out and stand up. Ever since then I stopped using escalators.”

“What about flying?” Jaehyun asked.

“I either don’t sleep the night before so I will sleep on the way there or I end up holding on to the person sitting next to me in a death grip.” Hana said as she awkwardly scratched her forehead.

“So you’ve never flown alone?” Johnny asked and Hana nodded her head.

“I have! I just try to avoid doing that as much as possible though.”Hana said and Johnny nodded. Note to self, never let Hana fly alone. The conversation was quickly changed to work and they had all finished eating when Mark had run off with Jaehyun with Ten in tow. Johnny and Hana went back to the cotton candy stand and Johnny paid for a small bucket while Hana looked around the stall for other things.

“Here.” Johnny muttered and Hana took the bucket with a smile and began to eat it immediately. She offered some to Johnny, who was reluctant at first, but took some and they both sat on the bench they were on earlier.

“Are you sure there aren't any rides you want to go on? I’ll wait here for you.” Hana said as she placed another piece of the candy in . Johnny shook his head though and leaned back in the chair.

“No. None of the rides still looked interesting. We’ll go to a bigger one next time. Maybe there might be rides you can go on.” Johnny teases and Hana laughs before she shrugs off the statement.

“As long as they’re not high up, I’ll go on the rides.” Hana said as she happily ate her desert and looked off to find the others. Johnny looked at her with a small smile. I’ll go anywhere you want to go. There’s no place I’d rather be than here with you.
