The 2nd You Sleep
Final Retry || YulyenYuri and Yena were being left alone in the room. The light orbs that entered their bodies give them a feeling that it’s the time for Yuri to carry her duty as Luna. As they face each other, Yuri’s hand found its way to palm Yena’s cheek and caress it with her thumb softly; feeling the fair skin on her fingers while a thin smile graced Yuri’s lips.
Yena brought her hand on top of Yuri’s hand which had been giving her gentle skims, causing Yena to slightly tilt her head and closing her eyes to fully savor her wife’s touches.
“Yuri… I don’t want you to carry anyone’s burde–” she started.
“Shusshh.”
Yena opened her eyes and the room’s air suddenly feels thick and heavy, hanging on her skin who waits for Yuri to open other than the shush. But rather, Yuri ran a hand on Yena’s hair then tucks it behind her ear.
“Yena, my beloved one,” Yuri called, her timbre of voice as radiant as sunlight, as clear as flowing river. “What you have to go through must really be painful onward… But…”
The brunette paused, taking in an air before she continues for what her mind has been thinking to say to Yena at this exact moment.
“Thank you for marrying me… And for loving me always… I, too, will always love you and watching you…This is… our small farewell, Yena…”
She then took both of Yena’s hand, bringing them close to her face before she kissed them wholeheartedly.
Yuri’s words carved deeply inside Yena's heart, tightening every space left in her chest. Squeezing it with somewhat tremendous power that Yena felt so helpless but to let a tear escaped from the corner of her eyes instantly. Along with her heart, a single tear had dropped. Then another one followed until it became a solid stream, flowing down fearfully onto the tile ground she’s standing.
Wearing perpetual frown on her face, Yena kept on shaking her head, indicating that she hasn’t been prepared and never be prepared for a farewell with Yuri. All of her emotions being unlocked and getting jumbled in a point. instinctively kept on replaying “no” quietly, too mortified to speak, too horrified to make a sound, too petrified that it’s going to be real if she let her voice out.
But Yuri had to go. So, she released Yena’s hands and slowly turned her back, sitting on the bed just before them. She looks at Yena intently, “Once again, good night, Yena…”
With that last sentence, Yuri lied down, clasping her hands together on top of her stomach. She could feel it. Inside her… the sands of time were mercilessly and without doubt starting to freeze within her.
Yena’s eyes widen and eyebrows pulled down, refusing to accept the reality. She seeks in every corner for a sign that this all is just a dream, a nightmare she would overcome after she wakes up. Her heart still cries out, hoping it wasn't real. Hoping it was all just lies. But the next thing she found was Yuri closing her eyes, and fading away… Every trace of Yuri’s soul… diminished before Yena's very own eyes.
“Yuri-yah, you mean the world to me. How can I sleep now while my world is sleeping on me?”
