Ploy
Final Retry || YulyenSteely breeze cutting the air around, letting the wind blow and sing its way to soothe the shiny golden fur on her body as she ran. The rough wind she left with each step behind her, sways the grassy wands and fallen leaves on the base ground, allowing the lone lycanthrope to follow the passageway; a passage to the stream.
The water’s current flew dynamically in her ears, clapping onto some huge rocks as if they are welcoming Yena earnestly on the site. So she lowered her pace, hopping straight onto one of the biggest rock there.
Then Yena transformed her body, taking a seat on the edge with her legs hanging loosely, and she placed her hands onto the rock’s surface to weigh her body. She looked chill being in the wild nature by herself.
Five minutes passed.
Ten minutes passed.
She ran her hand through her hair as she feels there were movements coming there, right to her direction. She waited for the other one to get close patiently, gazing at the stream beneath her legs.
The other one, a lycanthrope with scarlet fur moved in closer, leaping its foot onto the rock Yena was sitting as well before turning back to the human form.
“How was it, Chaewon?” Yena asked right away as she stands up upon the latter’s arrival. It has been a week since Chaewon had told her that she saw the Alpha.
“It was hard but I did some investigation on him, in such a very discreet way. If it’s not for you and Yuri, I wouldn’t do it. I really don’t want to do anything with him anymore,” she replied while shaking her head. She opened again, starting to speak of information she has gathered. “So, apparently he just moved to this area a couple months ago, just weeks earlier than you. There’s nothing unusual in his daily life as I followed him this week. But there were times when he visited the hospital and the doctor…”
Yena raised an eyebrow, “Hana?” and wait for Chaewon to go on.
“Ah yes, Hana, that woman is suspicious too. Just as you said, her face resembles too much with our friend Sakura but let’s leave it for later, there’s no time to investigate her. But in the hospital, they were talking about precognitive dream. Also don’t ask me how I could listen to their conversation because I freaking hijacked the room.”
“Which means they were talking about Yuri…” Yena brought her hand rubbing her chin. “And that’s some skills you have there…”
“Don’t mention it but you are correct about Yuri,” Chaewon agreed. “He also said that his ‘search’ is over.”
Yena was in deep of her thoughts, letting her brain trying to piece everything together. It was like she’s one step away in knowing what’s really happening. Then she realized one thing that she experienced with Yuri in the clinic, the first time they checked the girl’s eyes. “Wait, I just remembered something. The locals here said some people were missing. I don’t know if it’s just rumor because there was no news about this issue. What do you think of this, Chaewon?”
The question made Chaewon to pull her brows downward, her eyes doesn’t move as she was focusing to the issue that Yena just told her; and after some time her mind made a click as if she just unlocked a complicated lock. Her jaw dropped, she gasped widely. “!!! That must be his doing, the missing people... He’s still doing what he done to his pack! And with his rank in the police department, it’s all under his control…”
Yena’s breath started to flare. “That bastard!!!” her rage boiling up, hands balled into fist, ready to break anything around her.
