If It's Not You“This is really a great coincidence! It’s nice seeing you again.”
Irene is offsite for a special project today, and by the grace of heavens, she crosses paths with a college senior out of the millions of people in this city.
It’s not that she dislikes people, or Taeyeon in particular. In fact, she was thankful. There was no need for awkward introductions. She and Taeyeon knew each other well, and had done projects in the past so today’s job was easily done.
She’s more concerned that they get to work together today, of all days.
(Wendy is on her way now.)
Her phone rings as they talk and Irene turns the screen off before her old friend can see the caller ID.
The two walk together as they reminisce their college days. After Taeyeon graduated, they only saw her at college events and hangouts. They’d go to parties, or drink with the rest of the group at Tiffany’s pad. Good times, Irene recalls, but she can’t help feel a little wistful thinking of a particular someone she spent most time with back then.
As they neared the (thankfully) deserted corner, Taeyeon bids her goodbye and Irene lets out a breath of relief.
But not before a passing comment is said. With the news of engagements and baby showers popping every now and then, Taeyon gleefully says, “I’m betting Wendy is next.”
Irene nearly trips.
