Silver Lining (Christmas, a year later)
If It's Not YouGoing through her usual routine, Irene clicks the facebook notification that appears almost everyday.
It shows her pictures tagged of her on the same day but from years back. It’s both rewarding and unfortunate. She feels glad, looking back at all those happy times, but in times like these, she just misses it, misses how much fun she’s had when she was younger.
It’s a year-end party. She remembers splashing in the pool with her classmates, eating delicious cakes, and playing on the trampoline like little kids.
A classmate uploaded the photos and she smiles as she looks through them. She stumbles on the picture and the memory resurfaces in her mind. She remembers it vividly, the cold gust blowing and she tries not to shiver, only wearing a thin shirt she borrowed after getting her clothes wet in the water.
The photo is slightly blurred, with herself sitting on a swing in the background. Beside her is Wendy, both of them unaware of the photo being taken.
Seeing the name tagged on the same pretty face, Irene clicks to see her profile. She takes a deep breath, bracing for unwanted images (read: a model-pretty woman with long blonde hair in Wendy’s arms). She still sees couple photos but surprisingly, it doesn’t affect her as she thought. Instead, she feels proud as she scrolls and sees photos of Wendy, looking happy and stunning in her white coat.
