Wendy drops her head on her desk, regret creeping in as soon as she sends the text message.
What would Irene say? That is if she would respond at all. She probably wouldn’t, especially after seeing a series of numbers she has long deleted and forgotten.
She remembers Irene asking.
“Why look for me all those random times?”
In the past years, Wendy has met and loved a few other women. They were vocal and showy about their feelings for her. They plan surprises for her and give her gifts. Even when they fight about other girls and guys Wendy has worked with, she knows the jealousy is all out of love.
In contrast to Irene, it was easy for them to show and tell her they love her.
But still, none of them compares to her.
There’s always that inexplicable pull. Whenever she’s not feeling her best and finds herself slumped in her woes, her mind only wanders to one person.
“Because it wasn’t happy anymore.”
