First part or second part?
My symphony“Do you want to play the first part together with me?” Before I could even reply Sojung,
“Eunbi” I turned around.
“Do you want to play the second part with me?” It was Yerin.
“Huh?” Oh .
“Is there… a third part?”
“There are three parts. I’m playing the first, which is the higher octave. Yerin’s playing the second part, which is the middle octave. See the guy there? He’s playing the third part, which is the lower octave.”
“Then can I play the third part?”
“NO.” That was a firm no from both of them.
“Do I really need to choose between the first and the second part for every song?”
“DUH” This is definitely not helping.
“How many songs will we be playing?”
“Six or seven. Depending on the conductor.”
“Okay, if we’re playing six songs, I’ll play the first part for the first three songs, and the second part for the next three songs.” Please be six songs
“Okay settled.” Phew.
“Band, can you take your ‘I recommend book out? We’ll be practicing some appregios and chromatic scales”
Sojung went into the band store and came back with some books.
“Pass it down.”
“Who do I share wi-”
“Me.” I didn’t know how to react at this time. Same people replying me the same thing at the same time.
“So who exactl-”
“Me.” OHMAIGAWD
“Actually Yerin ah, she can just share with me since she’s just beside me, and I could teach her as well.”
“But you taught her so much just now, you need to take a rest. Why don’t you let me teach her this time? Since I’m sitting beside her as well.”
“It’s really okay Yerin ah.” I’m definitely out of this.
“Why don’t we let her decide?” DAMN IT.
Both of them stared at me while I stared back at them, awkwardly.
“Why… don’t we… three share one?”
“Good idea. You’re so smart.”
“Why didn’t I thought of that?” WHEW.
“Turn to page seven and look at number one.”
“What’s that?”
“It’s chromatic scales. Basically it’s just a note, followed by the sharp note. So it’s C, followed by C-sharp, D, D-sharp, E, without a sharp, then F, F sharp and G, G-sharp, A, A-sharp, B, without a sharp and finally C.” Sojung showed me the s
“Oh…”
The conductor was already holding her baton up.
“I’ll give you four counts, one two three and.”
“Good. Now turn to page 9 and look at number one.
“What’s this?”
“This is appregios. Its two notes higher from every note. So it’s C, E, G, C and coming down the scale.” It was Yerin’s turn to explain.
“Oh..”
“Like before, I’ll give your four counts.”
We started playing again.
“Okay good.”
The librarian came back with a stack of scores and distributed the scores to us. Please tell me we’re only playing six songs.
“We’ll be playing a total of seven songs for the performance.” I guess somet
