I finally had gotten Lee Jiah into a room to talk. She seems extremely peeved to be here, so it took a bit of convincing to get her to sit across from me.
“You’re still not worried about her?” I ask concerned. If my sister went missing like this for this long I’d be really concerned.
“No, like I said she slept around. She’d disappear for entire weekends before. Jinho thinks he knows her and that she’s changed but these type of people don’t change that fast.”
Something about how she spoke nagged me. She thought in such an old fashioned way. As if a person could never change?
“You’re a Nurse am I correct?”
“Yes, at Byun Hospital.” She notes seeming proud of herself.
I nod. “Byun Hospital deals with a lot of pregnant women right?”
“Yes we are one of the best hospitals for a woman to give birth in.”
“Are the Nurses trained to notice any signs of pregnancy?”
“Yes, if they show signs of pregnancy we send them to the OBGYN Clinic down the street. We can’t do much for them unless they are in labor or miscarrying.”
“Did Hyun ever exhibit any early pregnancy symptoms?” I slowly ask, not wanting to come on too strong.
She squints. “Not that I know of. Like I said I don’t see her often. And when I do it’s just for seconds at a time. We don’t really talk.”
I glance down at the papers in front of me. The one’s Detective Kim had went out and got for me. They were from an OBGYN Clinic, one that Hyun had visited on Tuesday, two days before she went missing. They confirmed Jiyoon’s story of her pregnancy.
I turn the papers around and slide them towards her. She glances at them.
