Jennie dozed off in the car on our way to my parents’ house.
And I didn’t mind the long drive as much as I watched her in her sleep.
It was half past 6 when we arrived.
“We’re here. Rise and shine.” I leaned over to take off her seat belt.
She groaned before slowly opening her eyes.
She caught a glance out the window and turned to me while stretching her arms,
“You said we were going home,”
“I did,” opened the door and jumped out.
I extended a hand over to her, gesturing her to follow my lead.
She didn’t take it.
She, instead, stuck her head out of the car to take another look around,
“This isn’t home,”
“It is,” I insisted,
She eyed me suspiciously,
“Quit playing around, where are we?”
“It’s home.” I said, “It’s mine. Well, my parents’, but still mine.”
“What?!” her eyes turned wide.
I guess that was enough to snap her wide awake.
“Come on, they’re waiting.” I whined impatiently.
“Who’s ‘they’??”
I grabbed her arm to pull her out, not bothering to answer her question.
“Wait!!” she screamed, “I - I don’t have shoes on,”
“What are you talking about??”
I looked at her feet.
Then I saw she was only wearing pink socks.
I chuckled.
“You pulled me out without grabbing the shoe I threw at you so I just took the other one off and walked barefoot to the car,” she explained.
