“What happened to you? You looked so messed up” I said following Yerin who was walked like a dead person towards her seat and immediately crushed her head on the table as soon as she had sat down

She raised her hand in the air and slowly gestured something like never-mind-me 

I leaned my back at my seat and crossed my arm in front of my chest and turned my head to the now trying to sleep Yerin

“Hey eyes are awful... what happened to her?” Observing her peaceful sleeping—trying to sleep face, her dark circles below her eyes were no joke like she had been partying the whole night or studying for an exam which obviously the second option is out of the way. We don’t have any upcoming exams, fortunately, because I could sense myself flying around the place while I try to study

Though, I know that my grades doesn’t matter due to the fact I would leave this place once my mission is done anyway.

Leave.

Would I able to do it though?

Yerin rose up from her sleep and slammed the table with her clenched fist making me flinch—I looked at the people inside the room and their eyes were all on her making me want to sink down of embarrassment in place of her—but then just sighed and went back o laying her head on the table again. What is up with her?

“You do know I was the one who got embarrassed in what you just did” I shouted in whisper, almost like I was trying to scold her

“Don’t bother me. I only slept for half an hour because of Sinb” She turned her head to my direction, still on the table with eyes closed, with a husky and lazy voice

My eyebrows furrowed when I heard the name she had just said. What might have she done or... they...

Don’t think that way Kim Sojung. Sinb was just and had always been sleeping soundly last nigh–

My eyes widened as I suddenly remembered that Sinb went out last night without telling me. I woke up in the middle of the night without her lying on the bed across me and had seen a sticky note placed on the desk that was beside my bed saying “If you ever wake up and see me not sleeping, I’m going out. Don’t wait for me and continue sleeping”

Which I followed what she said and just slept on it like it was nothing. Well it was really nothing if Yerin hadn’t mentioned that she had a lack of sleep due to Sinb.

The thought of Sinb having feelings towards her in the past just ran through me like a bullet making my adrenaline rush throughout my body making me scream “What?! Sinb?!” like a total psychopath

The room that was full of chatter turned into complete silent—more silent than when Yerin did rose up and slammed the table—I didn’t mind the stares that the others were giving me but just looked at Yerin who had her eyes wide open due to the shock she just felt due to my shout

I could feel my face getting hotter and hotter the more I think of what happened to them that made Yerin sleep for just an half of hour.

If you would make this as an animation, there would be probably smoke coming out of my nose and ears while my face was red as a tomato. I was panting in anger

Yerin looked sided by side with her confusion plastered on her face until she said “Huh?” Making me more annoyed by her reaction

“Sinb. Sinb. What did the two of you guys do that made you have a lack of sleep?” I said trying to contain myself from shouting in anger once again

“W-what d-do you mean?” She tilted her head with her brows creased 

I leaned closer to her while my hand forming a ball of fist placed on the table and trying my best not to make my face twitch at her dumbness

“You know what I mean. Jung Yerin” The way I said it was full of warning and threat that I knew I’ve intimidated Yerin due to her reaction. She gulped slowly and blinked a few times with cold sweats running down her head

“Uuuhhhhh....” She said with her eyes traveling around the room until I saw a smirk form at the tips of her lips making me irritated

“Ahhh... I get what you mean”—her nervous expression, now turned into a confident and playful one. She rubbed her chin and look at the ceiling teasingly—“Hmm... We had a fun night, actually”

I stared at her blankly then gave her a deadly glare

“What d-did y-you d-d-do?” The words barely slipped out of my mouth making her giggle

“What do you think was it?” I swear she’s cute while smiling but can be super annoying sometimes. Like for example... now. Her grin is making my stomach act up due to the irritation I’m feeling

“Uhh... D-d-did s-something h-h-h-hap—“ I wasn’t able to finish my sentence because Yerin finished it for my sake

“Did something happen? What if I say yes, something happened. What would you do?”

The pen I was holding suddenly got broken into two pieces as soon as I heard what Yerin had said. She said it playfully which made my anger meter rise up like crazy.

“I’m gonna kill that girl... I’m gonna kill her... wait for me, Hwang” I muttered angrily and didn’t bother looking at Yerin anymore.

I stood up from my seat and grabbed my bag and started walking towards the outside until I heard Yerin laugh hysterically. I stopped from taking another step and my face kept twitching so bad that I wanted to slap myself to stop it

“She just bought it. Oh my god”—I heard her chair screech and her, tapping her thighs while laughing out loud—“Oh my god, I must be a good actor that made her believe it”

I slowly turned my head towards her and I saw a crazy, more like a psychopath Yerin laughing like there’s no tomorrow at her seat. She even almost fell of her chair but as soon as she regained her balance, she went back to laughing

I turned around and walked towards her ferociously “What’s funny?”

“I was kidding about what I said”—She then wiped the tear on her eyes—“I won’t do anything with your Sinb. I was messing with you”

I bit the inside of my mouth and raised my brow and said “That’s not funny. Not funny at all”

“But for me it is. You should’ve seen your reaction when I said that. You were red like a tomato and I could feel your hot temper coming pass through me”

“You’re gonna pay for that, Jung Yerin”

“Yeah. Yeah. Whatever. Won’t you ask me what really happened?” I rolled my eyes and groaned in disbelief as I turn around and started walking away

“It was about you. Idiot” Yerin caught up to me and is now walking beside me. I fasten my pace but unfortunately even though I have a long legs like a giraffe, she still managed to catch up to me

“She was panicking about her sudden confession. Too afraid that you’ll gonna distance yourself away from her” 

“And why would I distance myself?”

“Because you might think she’s too straightforward and... you’ll find her weird for falling for you in just a few weeks”

I stopped taking another step and turned to face her. Took a deep breath with my eyes closed “I’m just the same though. Falling for her in just a small matter of time”—I kicked the lost stone that was in front of me—“Pretty weird actually. I didn’t know people could fall in love so easily and be broken so easily”

“Well that’s how it works. Magical things happen in unexpected time and place” I could see through her eyes what she just meant. I could see the eyes of someone in love. Someone who felt strange yet magical things towards someone whom she never thought that would make her feel those special feelings

I weakly smiled at her with the thought of me wishing that I also could be normal just like them. Normal. So that I could live and choose whatever I want instead or being like a prisoner of the mythical world

I also want to experience the magical things humans can be felt. I want to love and choose who to love freely.

If only I could be normal...

If only there was a way to be normal...

I was do everything to be normal and throw away my title and work as a cupid, a matchmaker for the humans.

I never had been so jealous over humans and had always thought that they were stupid for they could do everything for their loved ones. But here I am now. Wanting to swallow and take back the mean and unnecessary words I have said about them

I want to be normal...

I want to be reborn as a human instead of being a cupid...

Living for eternity isn’t as great as they think. It just means loneliness. Prison.

You cannot escape it even if how hard you try to escape. A prison where there’s no way out for you to escape

Yerin’s phone buzzed as we were walking in the hallways. I waited for her to finish reading and typing her reply and asked who was it and the name got me irritated for some reason...

“Just Sinb” She said timidly

The tips of my lips twitched in irritation because why did she message Yerin instead of me? She knows my number but why her?

“What is up with her?!” I unknowingly said aloud making me cover my mouth in shock while Yerin had a confused look once again but immediately faded when she realized what I meant

“Don’t worry. She messaged me instead because she’s too embarrassed to do so”—she clicked her tongue—“After all, she just confessed to you not too long ago and you didn’t give a proper answer making her more embarrassed by what she did”

“But that doesn’t change the fact that she messaged you instead of me. I mean she usually messages me around this time because it lunch but she didn’t” I talk so fast that I looked like I was rapping.

I was annoyed by it okay? Don’t argue with me.

“Stop being some jealous girlfriend when you’re not her girl yet”

“I am not jealous! Am I?...” My voice descended by the fact that I was jealous. Jealous by the fact Sinb didn’t send me a message

“Okay. Okay. Miss Kim Sojung’s not jealous” Yerin said sarcastically with a smirk forming on her lips as she roll her eyes

“Did you just roll your eyes?”

“Uh. No?”

“You did. What’s the meaning of that?”

“You sound like your on your period. You kept acting irritated throughout the day but when I jokingly rolled my eyes, you got irritated” my mouth agape due to how speechless I was at what she had said 

“What did she tell you?” I said trying to change the topic which made Yerin laugh a little

“Trying to avoid what I just said huh?”—She rubbed her nape and pouted—“She said to meet at the cafeteria. There’s a new kid”

I simply nodded and shrugged and continued walking.

There were a lot more students roaming around the cafeteria as usual. Maybe because we arrived later than we usually do.

“Where are they?” I asked lazily

“I’m asking here” She was holding her phone and typing a message. A reply came in like a thunderbolt making me annoyed again

“She doesn’t reply to me that fast” I muttered making Yerin glance at me

“Come on. They’re at the right end” I followed her as we squeezed through the group of students chattering and walking around with their trays on their hands

As we go nearer, I saw Sinb smiling and laughing towards a short haired girl that was seating across her, facing backwards us

I narrow my eyes, trying to remember where I’ve seen this familiar figure. As soon as I heard her laughter... I suddenly felt my soul bidding farewell and flying away from me

“Please don’t be her... Please...” 

Sinb waved at us with smile on her face and as soon as the short haired girl turned around... My soul completely took off

“Of course... it’s Eunha...” I wanted to cry at who I am seeing. What is she doing here? Why do the humans can see her?

She stood up beside Sinb and introduced her towards me and Yerin.

“I know Sojung” She said looked at me with a smile on her face while Sinb looked utterly confused

“I thought you just moved here?”

“Yeah. But Sojung’s my childhood friend and she’s mainly the reason why I moved here” Sinb’s face turned into a frown and I could feel the air tensing up so I pulled Eunha and excused ourselves from the two

“What are you doing here?” I said while peaking at the both of them and Sinb looked annoyed making me anxious. Eunha’s innocent expression turned into a playful smirk 

“I’m here to watch you and that human”—She raised both of her index fingers and collided it—“Fall in love and that’s when the drama starts. Obviously”

“Seriously? You’re here for the drama?”

“Partly yes. But mostly because I want to warn and help you with this human and that locked file since you basically really have no clue who’re they”

“I can manage that. It’s my mission, not yours” I said sternly

“Yes, it is your mission. But I don’t think you’re up for it”—She glanced at the back—“You’re prioritizing your feelings than the mission itself” 

“Did Kyung send you?”

“No. But you should be grateful that I’m trying to help you to not put shame on your title as a Cupid by finishing this mission without any strings attached to any humans” I scoffed at what she had said

“Why do you care? It’s not your decision to make, Eunha”

“I know it’s not my decision to make, Cupid. But I am and had always be the one who cared for your the most. So I care about what might happen to you”
