“What the hell are you doing?” Sinb asked me while giving me her deadly glare and her voice raised

You’re probably gonna ask why she’s like that. To answer that, I joined the volleyball team where she and Yerin are part of and I kept pretending to make mistakes by colliding with her when I see Yerin being close to where she is

I don’t get why she’s mad at me for doing that. If I were her, I’ll probably even be grateful since I can have a skinship with my best friend slash crush

I took a step closer making her step back and smiled at her “Helping you, obviously”

“What do you mean helping? You’re obviously not helping. I’m trying my best to avoid Yerin so to avoid getting caught about my feelings but here you are, crashing onto me so that I would also crash on her” She was keeping her voice down but it was evident that she was mad and wanted to raise her voice but couldn’t due to the fact that Yerin and the others might hear our conversation

“You know what? Let’s not talk here” She grabbed me by the hand and started dragging me outside the court. 

 The other players were watching us and started murmuring when we were nearing the door making me uncomfortable because they might think something wrong about us

Sinb didn’t stop dragging me even when we reach the outside and there were no people anymore so I tapped her hand that was holding onto mine. She stopped her tracks and turned her head onto me with a questioning look on her face

“Uhh... you can stop dragging me and holding my hand. We’re out of the people’s vision” I said while pointing on our hands

I could see the panic on her face and how she was flustered when she saw how tight her grip on my hand. What made me smirk was the fact that she didn’t let go of my hand even when she saw it due to how flustered she was

“Enjoying holding my soft hands?” I teasingly said that made her immediately let go and even threw my hand

Her face was red as tomato and I couldn’t help but be amused by her reaction. I never seen someone look so flustered in my entire life. Funny right? I already live for thousands of years yet I haven’t seen anyone have this kind of reaction.

We, cupids and mythical creatures have this kind of human reactions due to how distant we are to them but we do have some similar traits. It’s just not that much because we never have interacted to them that much to avoid breaking the rules in our race

But seeing and interacting with humans doesn’t seem to be so bad... it’ll be on us if we will break the rule and cause danger or even worse... death to ourselves

Mythical creatures are known to have eternal life. We do have eternal life but that also have limitation and rules just like some restricted areas that we can’t barge in

“Tell me, how did you manage to join the team so easily?” Sinb who have seemed to calmed down and returned to her original color asked me as she lean on the wall

“Yerin pleaded me” I said while shrugging both of my shoulders

“You’re kidding” I shook my head in response of her question

“She pleaded me to be a part of the volleyball team since she thinks that my height will be a great advantage for you guys” She then scanned me from head to toe and chuckled when she looked at me in the eye

“Why are you laughing?” My eyebrows furrowed in confusion and I soon had been self conscious so I looked around myself latter on to see if I have something on myself that looked funny but all she did was stop me from doing so by calling out my name

“You wanna know why I laughed?” She said covering and trying to stop herself from laughing.

I nodded in response, my face still frowning

She took a step forward and placed both of her hands on my shoulder and tiptoed to reach my eyes. She removed her left hand on my shoulder and placed it on my head like she was comparing her height to mine then smiled at me as she goes back to her original position and her hands retracted from my shoulders

“You can be a giraffe, you know?”

“What?”

“I laughed because I realized how tall you are like a giraffe”

It took me a while before the word giraffe processed inside my brain and realized what that looked like. I glared at her but my face immediately softened when I saw how sweet she smiles and how she looked so soft that time

I felt a sudden tingle inside my heart and I started to get this unusual feeling inside me the more I look at her smiling face so I turned around and tucked both of my hands on my pocket. I felt suddenly hot on my face and I was blinking nonstop and trying to control myself from the weird feeling that was happening

“L-let’s go. They’re probably waiting for us”

Why did I stutter? Why did am I siddenly feeling like this? Get a grip of yourself Kim Sojung. This is just because of what she said and I am annoyed by it. Nothing more, nothing less

I suddenly felt her hand slid onto mine as I was walking forward

“Why are you leaving me?” I slowly turned my head onto her direction and saw her glaring at me. Not a deadly glare... more like a cute one...

“H-huh?” I said as slowing my walking phase

She then smiled and tapped her index finger on the tips of my nose and let go of my hand to run towards the door

“I should be the one who’s in front, giraffe!” She shouted as our distance grow apart

The next day, as soon as I arrive at the classroom, I was immediately approached by Yerin who sat at the desk in front of my table and crossed her arms on the head of the chair

“What’s up with you and Sinb?” She asked as she place her chin onto the top of her crossed arms

“What do you mean what’s up with us?”

“Don’t play the ‘oh-what-are-you-talking-about-card’”—She whined by doing wierd gestures with her arms and hands—“I’m talking about your relationship with her”

I looked at her uninterestedly and blinked my eyes slowly before laughing due to what she was thinking.

She looked at me with a crease on her forehead and didn’t say anything but just glared at me but I know exactly what she’s trying to say with that glare

I tried stopping myself from bursting even more by controlling my breath “What about our relationship?” Then I started laughing again

“I’m talking about if you’re a couple”

“A couple?”—I wiped of the tears that were falling from my eyes due to the laughter—“You must be dreaming about that, Yerin”

“Then why does she look so happy when she’s with you”

My laughter stopped and turned into a serious expression. I sighed and leaned closer to her “She’s always like that. She’s happier when she’s spending her time with the person she likes”

Yerin’s face turned gloomier making me sigh in frustration. How can she not get that already?

“She likes someone?”

“Obviously. You’re her best friend yet you don’t know that” I scoffed then looked at the window to adore the sky but the view was soon blocked by Yerin who stood in front of me

“Don’t joke with me. She doesn’t like anyone. I’ve asked her that many times so I could help her but she always deny”

I tilted my head and shook it afterwards as I talk inside my head “How will you help her when it’s you who she likes. Such an idiot” 

“Fine. Fine. I just guessed that one” I said as I stood up from my chair to get away from this stressful classroom... person rather...

“I’ll just go and buy, coffee” I grabbed my bag and turned around and started walking away, leaving her from where she’s standing

I didn’t go buy a coffee as I told Yerin that I would. I just made that an excuse to avoid getting stressed by how dumb she is and maybe also because I wanted to skip class

I went to the playground near the building and sat on the swing to get my head straight and also think about stuffs such as when I could go back to my usual self and to also the mythical world

Life in the mortal world and being a mortal is such a pain in the ... I want to go back... I looked up towards the sky, trying to communicate with Kyung but who am I kidding? He won’t respond as usual.

Then a sudden memory of Sinb popped of my head while I was thinking over stuffs.

“Why am I thinking about her? And why is she popping inside my head?”

I asked myself over and over again until a familiar voice answered inside my head and said “Be careful” which made my eyes widen and made me look around my surroundings but I saw no one in the area

“Kyung? Was that you?” I asked carefully and tried hiding the fact that I was nervous due to what I heard

“It’s not funny, Kyung... not funny at all” I stood up and tried looking around but I saw no one until I felt a tap behind my back which made me flinch

“Why are you finding Kyung there? He doesn’t leave the other world remember? He’s a lazy master, making us all do the work. So don’t expect him to be here or even try communicating with you” I turned around and saw Eunha with her hands placed at her back, interlocked.

“But I heard a voice though?... A man’s voice... it was similar with his” Eunha’s eyes turned sharp as a knife and her aura changed

“What did the voice say?” Her voice was stern and making me even more nervous and making my heart beat fast due to how serious she looked

“B-be... c-careful” I stuttered so much but her expression didn’t change nor laugh like what she does when I stutter or become so nervous. And with that, I started thinking that what happened may be a serious case

“Do you feel any weird sensation around that human?” She asked making me confused and lost in her words

“H-human?”

“Your roommate. Sinb was it? Do you feel anything weird when you’re around with her? Or even just a few times? Did you feel something weird going around your heart?”

I wasn’t able to say anything because I started freezing from my place and even how hard I try to move my lips, it wasn’t moving nor talking like how I wanted it to be.

I was left shocked by how she got it right. How she knew that I sometimes feel something weird and my heart sometimes act weirdly around Sinb

She closed her eyes and sighed in disbelief as she shook her head “I was right wasn’t I?”

My words were still trapped inside me and my eyes couldn’t look at her directly, it were roaming around the place but not to her face nor eyes

“This is definitely a serious case... Be careful around that mortal, Sojung”

“W-why?”

“Take this warning seriously Cupid, Be careful if you don’t want to endanger your life and hers”

Questions started asking inside my head and every question I ask doesn’t seem to be answerable and the more I ask, the more it confused me

“What do you mean be care—“ I wasn’t able to finish my question because when I looked at the direction of Eunha, she was gone. She left even before I could ask the question and made me left hanging into tons of questions on what the warning meant

“Why would Sinb cause danger to me? What will she do that will endanger me?...” Those were the main questions that were going inside my head after Eunha had left me dumbfounded
