I felt shivers throughout my body when the mysterious man who turned out to be Kyung turned himself around and greeted me in glee.

Not believing what I am witnessing, I took a step backward but the moment I stepped, he vanished in front of me and teleported at my back and held my shoulder making me flinch

“Now. Now. Don’t be scared”

His once warm voice has now turned into cold making the atmosphere around us undeniably chilly

Before I could react to his touch, he once vanished again and appeared sitting on the couch across me with both of his legs crossed

“Don’t worry. I’m not here to take you back” my brows furrowed out of confusion

What does he mean? He doesn’t travel out of the mythical world towards the mortal world if it’s nothing important... and if that important matter not is me being taken back at the other realm...

What is his purpose for being here?

“What exactly are you up to?” Making him chuckle and motioned me to sit down 

Instead of obeying him, I just stood at my place and didn’t even bother moving an inch making him look down and sigh

“It’s about you and the mortal”—he rubbed his nose—“Is that enough to make you sit down? Because it’s really a hassle for me to raise my head as I talk to you”

He then raised his hand in front of me and I felt my body stiffening up. He then motioned his raised hand to make me sit making my body move according to his will. I felt like being suffocated as he move my feet to step forward 

“S-stop” I could barely move my jaws and he raised his right brow

He dropped his hand forcefully making my body follow his hand. As I sat on the couch, he released me from his control and I placed both of my hand on my neck gasping for air

“You know how I don’t like wasting my time, Cupid” his voice is now full of authority and sternness

After a few minutes of finding my breath, I managed to stutter a few words making his frowning expression turn into a playful smile

“W-why a-are you here?” He raised his palm and projected Sinb’s profile making me uneasy about his reason for being here

“You love this girl don’t you?” He said it more like a statement rather than a question. He looked at me dead in the eye before closing his palm and averting his gaze

“And that mortal seemed to reciprocate your feelings”—he paused for a moment to take a deep breath—“If I’m not mistaken the broken wings has already appeared somewhere in her body”

The memory of seeing Sinb unconscious for the first time had appeared like a flashback and the more I think about it, there was a broken wings tattooed on her neck... it was barely visible

“By your sudden pause, I assume I was right abou—“ I abruptly cut his word—“How do you know that?”

“Because that’s the sign that the curse had already started. History repeating itself”

I felt my body shiver from fear. Fear of losing her. The fear of seeing her in a state where she could barely walk nor speak without her having no idea why her body is having a sudden reaction with no proper explanation. That even science wouldn’t be able to explain

“How do I prevent it? How do I stop it from happening?” I said with a mix of plead and desperation. He leaned away from the head of the couch and removed his feet from being crossed and clasped his hands

“That is why I came here”—he stood up and circled around me—“I have a proposal for that”

I tried standing up but he lifted his arms and controlled me to remain seated  “Now, now, don’t be too excited”

“What proposal are talking about?”

“To save her from dying. One is a good choice while the other one is a not so preferable choice”

Hearing the word ‘die’ when talking about Sinb, I couldn’t help but feel a sudden pang inside me and I feel like thousands of boulders crashing onto me, making me hard to move and breath

Kyung stopped his stepped at the side of the glass table and made a familiar folder appear. I narrowed my eyes to identify the familiar folder and it appears that it is the same folder as the locked file that he had given me to accomplish for my task in the mortal world

“The first choice, the better one to be precise”—he lifted the file in mid air—“You basically would just find the couple inside this locked file and pair them up BUT I doubt you would be able to do it in time, considering the remaining allotted time for this”

The file disappeared into thin air and a black envelope appeared in place of the file

“The second choice, the not so good one, You’ll be memorizing the spell inside that envelope and chant it as you kiss—give your last kiss on the lips towards the mortal”—He leaned closer to me ear and whispered—“but you’ll vanish just like what had happened to the reaper after the spell ends”

He removed balled her fist to make the envelope disappear and cracked his neck. Before I could even speak and ask what would happen after I do one of the choices, he opened his mouth like he had read my mind

“Both results into the mortal’s curse being lifted up which is a good thing but the bad effect is for you, Her memories on you being a part of her life would be erased just like you were just someone who appeared inside her dream”

“Wait... I’m confused... could you please elaborate more clearly?”

“Well, for the first choice. You’ll fortunate that you will be surviving but we will never let you step on the same country where she is to avoid further accidents from happening—the second choice, you’ll be disappearing like a dust, due to you, sacrificing your life to be able to save her”—He sat on the window side—“But apparently, for the both choices, she’ll be losing her memories of you”

She’ll lose her memory of me? Unbelievable... so she won’t be remembering how I look, how I showed her how much I love her, how I smell... nor even my name...

It is indeed unfair. How I wish I was born as a human instead or how I wish I followed Eunha’s warning and advices

“How do I accomplish the first choice?” I asked hesitantly

“You’ll be finding the pair inside that locked file in your own. Just like what you had supposed to had done in the first place”—he sighed in disbelief—“But I’ll doubt you’ll accomplish it in time due to your having no idea who’re the pair inside”

My eyes narrowed as he mention a somewhat time related word. Questions ran through my mind such as if he knows how many remaining days does Sinb have or how many days until they pull me out of the mortal world

“What do you mean ‘in time’?” I emphasized the last words so that he could easily understand what I was talking about

“Ah, by that... I mean you lover’s remaining life span”

“What?”

“Sunmi had informed me that Sinb—was it?—her life spans is that she only got three days left to live and exclude this day... you have two days remaining before making up your mind”

My eyes widened upon hearing the news and I felt that my world was slowly crumbling and I felt the sudden urge to kneel down in front of Kyung and the other masters specially Sunmi to not take Sinb’s life away

But no, I doubt that they would listen to a mere follower or a mere cupid who happened to be the reincarnation of the reaper who sacrificed her life for the sake of the mortal she had loved

The choice would now be up to me... it’ll be upon me... Sinb’s life is now on my hands

“It appears that I’m hearing footsteps coming near, so I’ll be leaving these two choice of yours here”

“Sojung! Kim Sojung!” I heard a familiar voice coming near and in just a few seconds, the front door had slammed opened. Revealing Yerin who was panting and gasping for air

“Sinb... Sinb...” She kept pointing outside the door making me ask her what had happened to her

“She’s... she was brought to the hospital... unconscious” she finally managed to say despite of her heavy breathing

I immediately grabbed my coat and wore my sneakers as I ran outside the building to grab a taxi to travel to the hospital where Sinb had been admitted to

As soon as the glass door leading to the outside had opened, I heard Kyung’s voice inside my head

“Time is ticking, my dear Cupid. Start making your choice now before you lose her. Tick tock. Tick tock”
