I heard a loud bang of the door at the entrance and a smirk on my lips immediately formed as I know that it was Sinb who just arrived. The one and only Sinb who I locked up alone with Yerin inside the abandoned classroom at the end of the hallway on the third floor of the school building

As soon as I felt that she was coming nearer where I was, I started counting down from three to one. After the last number was said, I saw her heading inside our room with her feet stomping aloud and both of her fists clenched

I couldn’t help but laugh a little due to how she went to our room. I didn’t expect her to return like that. I expected her to immediately shout at me with rage as soon as she open the door

Did something happen between them while they were locked?

“Did something magical happen while you were away with her?” I shouted at the direction of the room but not changing the direction of my eyes. It was still fixed on the tv and at the show I was watching

I waited for a reply but nothing came on so I asked again but still nothing but silence after it.

I sighed and scratched the back of my ear before grabbing the remote beside me and turning the television off

“Did something bad happen?” I whispered under my breath as I stood up with both off my hands tucked inside my pocket to head towards our room where Sinb went

I couldn’t help but be curious and worried at the same time. Every step I take closer to the room, my breath was getting heavy due to how thick the air that I was sensing inside the room

I removed my right hand from my pocket and lifted it up closed and attempted to knock but stopped due to me having second thoughts if I should bother her or not. Took a deep breath and closed my eyes before attempting to knock once again

“Can I come in?” She didn’t answer me but instead I heard a soft sobs coming inside the room. I couldn’t help but feel bothered and uncomfortable by the sobs that I was hearing so I slowly opened the door and saw the room was pitch black.

The lights were turned off, even the lamp beside her which she always keeps when the lights were out was also turned off

I slowly laid my finger on the switch and clicked it to turn on the lights.

There I saw Sinb’s whole body covered with blanket and I was seeing her shaking due to how the blanket reacts or move around her

“What happened, Hwang?” I asked but this times I wasn’t expecting an answer because I know that she won’t say it until she have calmed down

My body automatically sat beside her and slowly lifted the blanket on her face to talk to her properly but she just covered her face again as soon as I laid the blanket

“Was it my fault? That you’re crying right now”

She shook her head and that’s when I confirmed that something bad happened while she was locked up with her but I don’t want to get ahead of her because maybe my guess is wrong

“Tell me about it Bi. I’m just here to listen”

I waited for a few moments for her to say something but there was no sign that she would talk at any moment and that she would want me here so I nodded and stood up to walk out of the room.

But even before I reached the knob, that was the time she talked. It was hoarse and husky due to the tears that fell from her

“She likes someone”

I turned my head to her and saw that the blanket covering her face was also now away from her face. Her eyes was so red and bloated. She looked so fragile and broken at her state

At this few days that I have been staying with her, I haven’t seen her like this. I have always seen a happy and confident Hwang Eunbi. Not a fragile and crying one.

“Did she tell you who?” I said carefully as I again sat beside her. She nodded in reply and I caressed her back as I ask her who Yerin likes

I could see the hesitation in her eyes and how hurt she’s getting as she thinks about it again but even so, I wouldn’t let that interfere with her answering my question

“Yu... Yuju” She broke down again after she said the name of the girl so I had no choice but to comfort her by giving her a hug and caressing her back as she bury her face on my face

“I’ll help you get her. I won’t let her be taken from you”

I slept at the sofa inside the living room because I didn’t want to bother Sinb and also because I was waiting for Eunha to show up just like she used to in the past days but unfortunately she didn’t. I just slept it off with no pillow nor blanket for me to avoid getting cold throughout the night

When I woke up, I saw that there was a blanket covering me and that there was a pillow behind my back. I sat up while yawning and rubbing my eyes and heard Sinb’s voice coming near me

“I saw you looking so uncomfortable so I gave you those while you were sleeping” she was holding two bowls of porridge and gave one to me as she sat beside me

“What’s this for?” I asked half awake

“Breakfast. Idiot”

I looked at the wall clock and saw that it was nine twenty-seven in the morning already yet she was still here so my eyes narrowed as I look at here

“Don’t ask. I didn’t want to see her so I pretended that you were sick and I have to nurse you” she then started looking at the porridge and playing her spoon by swirling the porridge

“Uhm... why did you use me as an excuse? You could’ve said that you were the one who’s sick”

She looked at me with cold and hurt eyes which made me look down and bite my lips due to the guilt that I was feeling

“If I said that, she’ll most likely not attend her class and go here to take care of me” She stopped playing with her spoon and smiled bitterly “And you don’t have to feel guilty about it. Because after all, there’s more people out there other than her and if we don’t end up together... I guess we’re just not meant to be with each other”

Silence filled up the room and I was getting suffocated by the thickness of the air around us until she spoke with a fake smile on her face

“Since we’re not attending class... do you want to see where is my favorite place to hang out?”

I blinked for a while trying to process what just happened and when it hit me, I hesitantly said yes to her offer

“Okay then. We’ll go after you finish that up and have washed yourself”

She brought me at an arcade place near the campus and she looked so happy just being at this place. Her eyes were glistening in delight and she pulled me inside the place

Background music of the different games were playing inside the place and almost all of the gaming consoles were still vacant, only few of them were occupied.

I scanned the arcade place for a while and as I turn my head to where Sinb was, she was already gone.

I looked for her and saw that she was sitting at the racing game and she looked so focused as she stir the wheel and change the gear of her car

“Are you not gonna play?” She asked with her eyes glued on the screen

“No. Not a fan of these”

“Or maybe you’re just afraid to lose with the computer or me” there was a hint of taunt on her voice which made me smile

I sat at the seat next to her and inserted coins inside the machine

“Let’s see who’ll lose between us, Hwang” I waited for her game to be finished so that we could challenge each other to a race

After she was done with her game, she inserted another coins to be able to race against me and the match was push and pull, like she was leading for a while and then I caught up to her then she was leading again and then it was me again. I end up winning against her

“You were cheating!” She shouted in frustration after the game which made me laugh

“I wasn’t. You were the one who kept bumping on my car and making it crash on the walls and metals making it slow down”

She groaned and left me at my seat and went to the Just Dance section so I followed her and just watched her dance 

I must admit that her dancing skills left me in awe and I felt a few seconds of me watching her dance turned into a slow motion so I immediately shook my head to get rid of that weird happening

“Having fun instead of doing your mission and finding that mysterious pair of yours” I heard a familiar voice beside me and saw Eunha standing beside me

“A little fun won’t hurt I guess”

“A little fun can lead into something more, Sojung” her voice was full of warning which made me furrow my brows and look at her confusedly

“Mortals can fall easily. And who knows? That girl you’re with”—she pointed Sinb using her head and continued—“may have a chance in falling for you and if you happen to also to fall for her... I bet you’ll use your power as a cupid for her to be called yours” I couldn’t help but laugh at what she had said because it would be impossible for me to fall for a mortal. I never broke the most important rule in the cupid rule book and I wouldn’t let anyone make me break it

“If you think I didn’t noticed how your world turned slow before you shook your head. Think otherwise. I popped to warn and remind you that you should never. Like never fall for a mortal or else it would be bad for both of you”

I felt my heart beat insanely and my breathing get heavy due to what she had said. She knows everything going around me... Kyung made her my guardian in this mission...

“Stop going through my head, Eunha”

“How could I not when I know that there’s a chance of you breaking the number one rule of you being a cupid?” She turned to me with her eyes full of worry and concern. She had always cared about me but never have I seen her this concerned to be before

“I won’t. So stop watching over me and getting inside my head because you’re already invading my privacy”

“The way you said that made me want to watch you over even more”—she stepped closer and tiptoed to reach my height—“But since you sound so sincere about that, I’ll stop getting watching you every second”

She smiled and placed both of her hands on my shoulders and leaned on my ears and whispered something that sent chills throughout my body “If I were you, I will only focus on my mission and not bother having a strong bond with a human because that may lead for one—maybe even both—to fall in love”

After whispering that, she returned from her original spot and fixed my clothes and said “Take my advice if you don’t want to have a bad outcome”

Then she winked and vanished into thin air leaving me frozen at my place
