The infamous matchmaker, Sojung also known as cupid, had been called by the head of the committee to give her new mission on the mortal world. She walked towards the meeting room with her back slumped carrying her bow and arrow

She hadn’t gotten enough sleep in the past few days due to her partying all night and now she’s still sobering herself up

Upon arriving in front of the door, she yawned while stretching her body and shook her head to make an expression that would hide her unwell state

She knocked three times before hearing the higher up told her to come in which the tall girl immediately opened the door once she heard the signal

A warm smile by the head, Kyung, welcomed her as she enter the room. The place wasn’t far from how typical offices looked like in the mortal world. Wooden table, wooden furnished floor, three shelves filled with books at the right side of his table, vintage and classical paintings hanging on the wall and a big glossy chandelier hanging at the center most ceiling of the room

Kyung clapped in glee as Sojung approach him “I’ve been expecting you, my dear cupid”

“Obviously” said the tall girl under her breath as she roll her eyes and stood in front of the head’s desk

“So... who’s the new target for the matchmaking?” She asked trying not to show any hint that she wasn’t currently in the mood for work.

Well everybody thinks that being a cupid is a great thing well at least for Sojung it was great at first when she started, getting to aim at people and make them have their happily ever after but as time goes by, the thrill in her as a cupid was getting lesser and lesser due to what she was doing was only getting repeated again and again.

Travel to the mortal world

Find the target then aim and shoot

After that, the inked heart on their wrists would glow into bright red if the shotted pair was perfectly matched for each other

Make them bump into each other or cross paths then wait until they look at each other in the eyes and feel the spark and magical sensation that would make then feel and realize that their eternity is just right before their eyes

Once you confirm that your mission is clear, return to the mythical world to report to the higher up

Then the process just repeats after she’s given a new task to accomplish

Sojung, herself, has told Kyung that she wanted something extraordinary and something she hadn’t ever done before to make her feel the thrilling sensation she had felt in the very first few mission she had done as the matchmaker of the mortals

Kyung slid a folder, an unusual folder, to Sojung which made her crease her forehead due to the unusual lock placed on the outside of the folder which doesn’t let her open it

“Why is there a lock in this folder?”

“You said that you wanted some thrill. Then we’re giving you one”

“What? But I don’t even know the designated couple?” Kyung tilted his head as she heard the cupid’s protests and gave her a sarcastic smile

“That’s the thrill I was talking about. You would live as a human in the mortal world but your power as a cupid is still with you”

“So you mean mortals would be able to see me but just like them? Like normal people? My wings and arrows wouldn’t be seen by them”

“Exactly. But if you happen to make the wrong pair fall in love... it’s game over for you. You know how dreadful the consequences of making an unmatched pair, my dear Cupid” The way Kyung said it made Sojung shiver and get goosebumps due to how serious and threatening his voice was. It was like he was giving her a warning that this mission would be taking quiet some time before it gets accomplished and it’ll be a fifty-fifty percent chance of succeeding knowing how the document was tightly locked and doesn’t seem to budge even if she uses magic to open the mysterious document

“Where’s the location?” Fear in her voice was inevitable due to how shaky it was and how her eyes quiver as it looks straight in the deadly eyes of the committee head

“LW University would be the location of the targets and we’ve already secured you a dorm room which you would be sharing with a student so if I were you I would try my best not to get caught on what my true my identity really is”

“Got it”

Sojung slightly bowed before turning away to get out of the room but as soon as she reached out for the door knob, the man called out for her and said

“Let me give you a tip. The one of the first few pairs you would see would probably be the candidate for your targets and I hope that you would succeed this thrilling mission that you have requested, Sojung”

Sojung only looked at the locked folder the whole time she went back to her house and she couldn’t get helped but be disturbed by how threatening and how serious the head was a while ago.

Kyung wasn’t the type to that serious, he was known for being the outgoing and happy-go-lucky guy no matter what the even was so if her expression suddenly turns into a monster-like one, it would probably means that something not good would happen and the look on his face was implying that he was already expecting Sojung to fail the mission and the warning like tone he gave was most likely to say that she should prepare for the consequences if she happens to pair an unmatched couple

Her mind was a total mess due to her overthinking things, she was a mess the whole time until it was already time for her to go to the mortal world and live like one

When she opened the door to the portal to the human world, she didn’t see the blinding light of the portal but instead she saw the vast sky beneath her which she would fall if she took another step

“Kyung! Where’s the portal? Why is it only clouds here?” She shouted and called for the head’s name again and again until a flying hologram pod which the head was being projected at and was floating in front of her

“Jump” Kyung ordered as he point down to the vast sky which only resulted for Sojung to raise her right brow and gave hime a look of you-gotta-be-kidding-me

“I’m not kidding. Living like a human has a different method of traveling unlike going there but you’re just like an invisible ghost roaming around the city”

“Do you want me to die that badly?” Which the man only laughed in return which made the Sojung glare at him until he finishes from laughing out loud

“You won’t die, it’s also just a portal which will teleport you to your designated place once you reached the atmosphere where planes fly”

Sojung gave him a look that shows that she doesn’t trust what he was saying one bit and she wasn’t budging from her place and just leaned on the side wall with both of her arms crossed in front of her

“So you’re not gonna jump?”

“No. I won’t risk my million years of living in just dropping here, my life is too precious for that”

“You’re not gonna change your mind?” Sojung just closed her eyes while shaking her head in disagreement

“I’ll count to three and if you don’t still jump from your spot, you wouldn’t like the outcome of it” His voice was stern but excitement could still be seen by his looks which of course Sojung didn’t see that expression when she opened her eyes and sticked her tongue like a kid who doesn’t want to do something that she was asked for which made Kyung’s face twitch at how childish she looked like

Sojung kept shaking her head and humming while her eyes were closed as Kyung begins her countdown

“3...”

“2...”

“1...”

Sojung opened her eyes and saw that Kyung’s hologram wasn’t there anymore which made her smile but her body froze when she felt someone’s presence behind her and whispered “Peek-a-boo”

“What the—“ but she wasn’t able to continue her sentence due to her feeling a strong force pushing her to fall down the vast sky

“Oh my gooooooooooooooooooooddddddddd” she kept screaming her lungs out throughout the fall with her eyes closed so that she wouldn’t be able to see anything terrifying. She tried letting her wings out but it didn’t come out as how it usually listens to her

“This is the end for me huh?” She said while waiting for a strong impact fall to kill her and tear her into pieces until she fell on a soft material which made her open her eyes and saw a blinding light as she cover her eyes with her hand

“Am I dead yet?”

She wasn’t sure if where she end up was the purgatory or somewhere else until she heard a familiar voice which she have heard a million of times 

“What do you mean dead? You arrive at the mortal world alive and well, Sojung”

“Eunha?” She said as she turn her head and saw the short girl who was always around her in the past until she got busy with work

“Why are you here?” The taller girl said as she sat up from where she landed which made the smaller girl sigh

“I’m your wife in mythology remember? Psyche? Your wife should be here to see if your alive and well”

“What?”

“I’m kidding. We’re only partners in the mythology nothing more, nothing less. And Kyung sent me to check on you if you really have arrived alive or not because of the traumatic and brutally way he pushed you from that door”

Sojung’s face suddenly became dull when she remembered how forcefully their head pushed her and laughed like a crazy man after he saw her disappearing into the vast sky but she tried calming herself up to save that rant later

“So, where would I be staying?”

“Oh right. It’s not far away from where you’ve landed. Just follow me” Eunha started walking forward and Sojung followed and they end up at a big modern mansion like dorm and it was peacefully quiet which made her wonder why it was so quiet, so unusual for the mortal world to he quiet like this

“Why is this place so quiet? Is this a ghost town or something?” Which made the smaller girl laugh at how she found the question ridiculous

“We’re inside a university and it’s currently class hours so it’s expected that it’ll be peaceful and clean at this hour”

Cupid remembered that Kyung said that the location was LW University so she just opened while nodding to what Eunha have said

“Anyway, I need to get going so here” The smaller her handed a card that have the number ‘307’ embedded to the latter girl

“What’s this?”

“Your room number and your things are already inside there so no need to be worried about not wearing anything new or clean everyday” Eunha winked before turning around and vanishing into thin air

Sojung just sighed and entered the dorm and roamed around to find her room. Her room was the the right side of the third floor

She tried knocking but as soon as her skin touches the wooden door, it screeched and opened

“My said dorm mate is still in?”

She entered the room which the television was and a bowl of cereal was placed on the table across the screen which made her think that her mate wouldn’t be the clean obsessed type of person

The next thing she did was find the bedroom. The time she entered, she saw a black haired girl sleeping at bed at the right side of the room which leads her to be staying at the left side

She ignored the girl who was sleeping peacefully and took off her shoes and lied on the bed with her arm supporting her head as she look at the ceiling

“Unknown targets and locked folder huh? I guess they really granted me the kind of mission I haven’t done before”
