When Yoongi woke up, it felt like there was a burning coal on his face. He couldn't even properly open his eyes until a long moment later.

And then what happened earlier sank into him.

Jimin had punched him in the face.  There was blood. And then his knees weakened at the sight of blood and he fell.

He was just glad he didn't also break his skull open when he fell.

"Oh thank god you're up!" Sitting at the foot of his bed was Park Jimin—pale and frantic, but still Park Jimin, regardless.

Jimin came to Yoongi's side and handed him an ice pack.

"You're such a ." Jimin murmurs, managing to make Yoongi flush red the moment he's conscious. "Sorry, ok? I didn't mean to knock you out with one punch. It's not my fault you're weak."

"Uh..." Yoongi looked around. He was in the infirmary. There was no one else—just the two of them. "It's okay, I guess."

"I mean, I feel like that one anime character, you know?"

Is he talking about One Punch Man? Yoongi asked himself. Because I haven't read or watch that one yet!

"Um..."

"Why did you do that?" Jimin lost the smile and now had one of the most expressionless faces ever.

"Do what?"

"Confessing to me," Jimin said it as though it was just another day someone had confessed to him. As though Yoongi's effort didn't matter that much. "You've been avoiding me since that day," that day in middle school, he seemed to say it without saying it. "And now, out of nowhere, you're telling me you wanna take me out? What do you want me to think of that?"

"If you don't still hate me, maybe accept me?"

"I never hated you," Jimin said quietly as though he wasn't sure if he wanted Yoongi to hear it too. "You're an for ignoring me all these years but I never hated you. Don't think too highly of yourself."

"So that's a yes?" Yoongi sat up. His head spun a little but he was feeling much better thanks to the ice pack.

"Not so fast, ."

Though he was insulted, Yoongi didn't feel offended at all. In fact, he liked the hint of sarcasm in Jimin's tone and the constant as though that was Yoongi's real name. They had not talked for so long he felt like this was the first time they met.

"Were you serious about dating me?" Jimin asked him again after a short moment of silence.

As serious as I am about my free homework!

"Yes." Yoongi replied. "Yes, I was. I am."

"Well..."

"Well? Yes?"

Jimin rolled his eyes. "You have to pass my test first."

A test? Yoongi hated tests. And exams. And everything about school in general.

"What kind of test?"

"A sincerity test."

. Imma fail for sure.

"Sincerity about what?" He kept asking like he would pass it. Screw it! He came this far, he couldn't lose to Jin now. Not today. "I'll do anything for you to believe me."

Jimin smiled on the corner of his lips. This side of Jimin was the side Yoongi had not known before—the kind that was both mysterious and attractive. How did the 12-year-old Yoongi couldn't see this side before? Maybe if he did, he would not have land that stupid punch.

"What is it, really?" Yoongi urged for an answer because he couldn't stand seeing that half-smirk without losing his mind.

"If you want to back out now, there's still a cha-"

"Goddammit, what is it??"

"Alright, alright!" Jimin shook his head in annoyance. "I want you to confess to me again."

"Done."

"Can you please stop deciding so fast?"

"Why? What else?"

"I want you to do it where everybody can see."

Already, Yoongi was sweating. If he wasn't aware he had anxiety before, now he was. Jimin just brought every ounce of his anxiety to the surface.

Jimin nodded. "That's right. Shout it from the rooftop of your dorm."

-

Rooftop, cool.

What's more embarrassing than confessing a non-existence love to a childhood-friend-turned-stranger from a dorm whose headmistress could murder you for disturbing the dormitory peaceful spirit?

Probably nothing.

But for his own happiness of the remaining high school years, he could do it. He didn't care about his face or reputation anymore. It wasn't like he had any to begin with.

Climbing the stairs, Yoongi was finally aware of the time. The sky had darkened and the students had been quiet since it was a school week. On school weeks, the dorm electricity would be cut off at9 PM, which meant Yoongi would need to hurry if he didn't want to walk in blindness back down these 6-storey tall stairs.

He had less than 10 minutes.

Reaching the rooftop floor, he quickly walked toward the edge. Jimin was watching him from the ground with a bored expression.

Yoongi gulped.

Do it for the free homework. Do it for the free homework. Do it for the free homework. He chanted to himself.

Like a pack of predators sensing their prey, more and more students came out to the field and joined Jimin.

. An audience.

Yoongi couldn't see clearly from up here but he knew those students were his dorm mates and they would never stop teasing him from this moment onwards.

Do it for the free homework. Do it for the free homework. Do it for the free homework.

"PARK JIMIN!" Yoongi called. He wasn't sure if his voice could re
