Hope
SmudgesWhen you woke up, all you saw was white around you and for a fleeting moment, you thought you had entered the netherworld and you were glad. But when details slowly begin to flood your senses such as being able to make out the rows of neon lights above you or hear the sounds of the machines beeping beside you, you knew you were far from death..
In fact, you were very much well and alive, much to your dismay.
Looking down at your forearm, you spotted the wretched needle of the IV drip beneath your skin and you proceeded to remove it but before you could, a warm hand closed over yours.
“Lydia please don’t do it.”
Looking up, you found Johnny’s warm brown eyes finding yours, his eyes conveying a silent prayer for you to stay.
“Jaehyun-ah, get the doctors please.”
“Ne hyung.” A younger looking male quickly rose from his seat diagonally across you and dashed out of the room before you could get a good look at him.
In this short period of time, you took a good look at Johnny and found that he looked much different than before. He actually looked…sad. He’s been flirtatious, mad and even frustrated at you but sad? Never. You noticed how his eyes seem more puffy than usual, the eyebags under his eyes now more prominent. His lips were chapped and bleeding a little, presumably from biting his lips too often. When the doctors finally came through, he parted to let them through, not giving you the opportunity to question him. The doctors repeated the process with you, administering all the tests and checking your vitals. All the while you kept your eyes on Johnny, trying to figure out what on earth was wrong with him. He was not acting like himself, almost like another man as you would soon find out.
“Mr Seo, Mrs Seo is alright. She just needs to stay for another day for observation before she can leave.”
Hearing another being calling you Mrs Seo sounded so unfamiliar and unnatural because so far when you were with Johnny, you never felt like a Mrs Seo.
“Thank you.” His voice came out thick and hoarse, further evidence to add to his lack of sleep. His shoulders dropped a little, the tension released from within them. He was simply glad to hear that you were alright, just that for now would be perfectly fine.
As the doctors filed out of the room, Jaehyun mumbled something along the lines of “I’ll go get coffee” before scurrying out of the room, using that as an excuse to escape the obvious tension in the room.
When you looked at Johnny now, you felt angry at him. To you, he was someone that had just ruined your plan, not some saviour that you
