Awkward Mishaps

[SEMI-HIATUS] SaTzuration ; a one shot and drabble collection

“Look, there’s 9 of us. Momo, Mina and Dahyun will definitely not go so that’ll leave us with 6.” Jihyo explained.

“But what about pairings?” Nayeon frowned.

“Jeongyeon will go with Chaeyoung, Tzuyu will go with Sana and I’ll go with you.” Jihyo shrugged.

Wait, did she just say Tzuyu be going with Sana? No, no, no, no.

“Alright, it’s all settled then. Let’s go to the ride!” Jeongyeon screamed, others turning around to give her a dirty.

“Uh, maybe you should dial it down on the loudness Unnie.” Chaeyoung teased.

“What?” Jeongyeon mumbled, “I’m excited.”

Tzuyu was cursing god for her luck that seemed to be going downhill ever since they’d stepped foot into the theme park. Firstly, she’d had no idea that there were going to be two groups of friends at the meet up. She thought it was just going to be herself, Nayeon, Jihyo and Momo. Since she’s already such an awkward turtle, she doesn’t like coming out of her shell much. So it was perfect when she saw another five people she’d never talked to before with them. This was just the beginning of her bad luck.

They’d introduced themselves and the girl at the end was the one who caught Tzuyu’s attention by the name Sana. Oh, what would she do anyway, she couldn’t say a word to a stranger in the first place. Sure, she would just remain quiet and drift off in her own thoughts because that’s what she always did but she didn’t know that her absentmindedness would make her collide with someone else. Yep, Tzuyu had collided with none other than Sana because she wasn’t paying attention. She got teased about it further, saying that Sana was usually the clumsy one but Tzuyu was the one who’d tripped over.

Tzuyu put in no effort to stop them from teasing her but Sana had come to her rescue, finally allowing her pink cheeks to turn back to their normal colour. Momo had warned Tzuyu teasingly about Sana’s clumsy nature and she wasn’t wrong. Tzuyu had managed to catch her from falling in the nick of time but also had also gotten ice cream on her shirt from Sana’s cone. A series of apologies were muttered and Sana had desperately tried to wipe off the remaining stain but Tzuyu had politely stopped her. She bought herself a hideous and expensive shirt from the souvenir shops and Tzuyu’s friends couldn’t help but about it. She would have rather stayed home and hidden in her blankets and eaten when she was bored than deal with this.

And now, she was stuck on a rollercoaster ride next to the one person she didn’t know and had the most awkward experiences with in the entire day. Maybe someone cursed her under their breath because this series of bad luck is never ending – even if she’s able to sit next to someone so beautiful as Sana. They’d only uttered apologies amongst each other, you can’t even call that a proper conversation!

“I’m sorry.” Sana apologised, blushing slightly.

“What for?” Tzuyu mumbled, frowning.

“I know you’re uncomfortable and none of your friends are coming but I can swap with Nayeon or Jihyo if you want.” Sana suggested.

Tzuyu shook her head and smiled, “It’s fine. I’m just shy.”

“I could tell.” Sana chuckled, lifting her arms as the instructor came to check on the safety bars.

The two of them were sitting at the back of the carriage, the other four at the front. Sana wouldn’t admit it but she was a tad bit scared of how intense the ride looked from the outside. She didn’t want to pull out last minute and she felt bad for the fact that Tzuyu would most likely have to ride alone. She couldn’t let that happen when she’d bumped into her earlier and ruined her shirt. She’d noticed how quiet the girl was compared to everyone else and she’d hung back from the rest of the group to keep her company. Guess that didn’t work out so well because they kept bumping into each other.

As the ride started, Sana couldn’t help herself but grip the bar tightly. Or what she thought was the bar. Tzuyu was blushing red and Sana hadn’t noticed, thankfully. She’d grabbed Tzuyu’s hand instead of the bar and Tzuyu was freaking out on the inside. What was she meant to do? Tell Sana that she was holding her hand or let her be? She peeked at her from the corner of her eyes and silently chuckled as Sana had her eyes shut already. She let Sana hold her hand, trying to keep herself calm at the same time. She didn’t know what was more thrilling, the ride or the girl sitting next to her.

They’d reached the tip of a hill and Tzuyu was ready for what was to come. Sana wasn’t though. Her face seemed paler than ever and Tzuyu was worried about Sana for a moment. As soon as the carriage descended, a scream was released from Sana’s lips and Tzuyu couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. Sana seemed to be having fun at least and no, she still hadn’t let go of her hand, much to her pleasure. When the ride came to an end, Sana’s hair was a mess and her face red; completely opposite to Tzuyu who had maintained her perfect hairstyle and composure as the carriage stopped.

“Oh my god! I’m so sorry!” Sana squealed as she realised she was holding on to Tzuyu’s hand.

“It’s fine.” Tzuyu shook her head.

“I’m sorry, I thought it was the handle!” Sana whined.

“It’s okay Unnie.” Tzuyu smiled, making Sana blush.

“Do you two want to go again?” Jeongyeon asked, raising a brow.

“We’re coming!” The two of them shouted, making the other four giggle. They both knew they were going to be teased by them once they’d reached the others.

“Should we check out our photos?” Sana asked.

“Why not?” Tzuyu mumbled, walking a certain distance away from Sana to avoid further mishaps.

“Actually, maybe we shouldn’t.” Sana suddenly turned around, pulling Tzuyu with her.

“Unnie?” Tzuyu frowned.

“Let’s go back to the others.” Sana suggested, still pulling on Tzuyu’s hand who was blushing at the contact.

“Ya, Sana, what did you do to Tzuyu that she’s all red?” Momo asked as they reached the group.

Sana turned around to look at Tzuyu and giggled as she looked at her. “I’m sorry Tzuyu.”

Someone save my heart, please.

“She’s turning even more red, gosh Sana!” Momo whined, pulling Tzuyu to her side.

The two of them continued to secretly look each other, a faint blush present on their faces as the night came around. There had been no other mishaps and Tzuyu was starting to think something was fishy. Something had to go wrong soon or else it wouldn’t feel right. Saying that in her mind made her realise how weird it was. Who wishes for something to go wrong? She shook her head and continued to walk at the back of the group with her head down.

Oh, would you look at that.

She knew something was suspicious.

She knew something would happen.

She was lost.

Tzuyu groaned at the disappearance of her friends, not able to sight them close by. What had she done wrong in life to deserve today? She pulled out her phone to call Momo and you can guess it, her phone was dead. What the hell is wrong with the iPhone battery? It dies as soon as you take it out of the charger. Tzuyu sighed in frustration, running a hand through her hair that she’d opened from earlier. She couldn’t just stand here all night, she had to look for them.

Sana had discovered the disappearance a minute into walking away. She frowned, looking around and not seeing the tall girl. She pulled away from the members to search for her, squinting in the darkness of the night. Where the hell did she go? Passing by several shops and rides, Sana had spotted Tzuyu looking at a map of the place with frustration and she couldn’t help but giggle at the look. She ran to Tzuyu, engulfing her in a hug and scaring the hell out of Tzuyu in the process.

“U-unnie?” Tzuyu called out, distinguishing the girl’s familiar perfume from their ride together.

“I thought you were lost!” Sana gasped.

“Uh, I was lost.” Tzuyu replied, bowing her head.

“Let’s go back to the others.” Sana said, ruffling Tzuyu’s hair as she held her hand. Tzuyu nodded and blushed, letting Sana lead the way back to the rest of the group.

“Hey Unnie, I think that’s them.” Tzuyu pointed out to a group of people.

“Hopefully.” Sana chuckled, shaking her head.

“There you guys are! Did you disappear on your own date?” Nayeon teased.

“I got lost.” Tzuyu scoffed.

“Nice excuse Tzuyu.” Momo winked, patting Tzuyu’s back as she blushed a deep shade of red. Sana laughed next to Tzuyu, hands still intertwined as they headed back to their cars.

Tzuyu would be lying if she said she hadn’t enjoyed the mishaps she had today because she’d actually spoken to someone who she wouldn’t have the guts to in another situation. God, she wasn’t going to let her progress die down the drain. She’d make a move soon for sure before she lost the chance. The momentum was there and she had to keep it going.

They all approached their cars and Tzuyu had called out to Sana before she went back to her car.

“Yes Tzuyu?” Sana asked, eyes glittering.

Tzuyu acted on impulse, leaning it to kiss Sana’s cheek softly. “Thank you for today.” She jogged back to her car before Sana could say anything, leaving her behind holding her cheek as she blushed.

Sana walked to her car in a daze, a confused look on Momo’s face as she sat inside.

“Momo.”

“Yes?”

“Do me a favour?”

“Huh?”

“Give me Tzuyu’s number.”

“What?”

“I want her number.”

“Uh.”

“JUST GIVE IT MOMO!”

“Alright, alright. No need to get so mad.”
