Tzuyu paced around in her room nervously. She didn’t know how she was going to get through today.

She wanted to propose to her long-time girlfriend, Sana. Her friend Mina was trying to calm her down but it wasn’t working.

What if things don’t go as planned? What if Sana doesn’t like it? What if she stuffed something up?

Tzuyu took the velvet box which had the ring in it out of her drawer and placed it into her jacket pocket.

Tzuyu met Sana in high school. She was the rebellious student and everyone was afraid of her apart from two students, Sana and Mina.

Tzuyu often kept to herself in the class and never spoke to anyone. But her teacher had other ideas. Because she was troublesome, she moved Tzuyu from the back of the class to sit next to Sana.

She refused initially but had no choice. Sana got along well with Tzuyu immediately. She spent a lot of time with her and they got to know each other better.

Sana was the first friend Tzuyu had made and she was extremely glad it was her.

There was a special spark in their friendship. No one had ever been able to make Tzuyu laugh like Sana did.

Soon enough, Tzuyu started liking Sana, a lot. They both liked each other but something was standing in their way; more like someone.

Mina always locked horns with Tzuyu and started fights in class because Tzuyu liked Sana, Mina’s sister.

Mina also didn’t like all the attention the girl was receiving because everyone used to talk about her before.

Now, it’s all just Tzuyu this, Tzuyu that and she hated it.

How was the girl even worthy of liking her sister? Everyone only spoke bad things about her. She was worried for her own sister’s heart breaking.

Tzuyu wasn’t a heart breaker or anything, Mina was just scared that Tzuyu would get into so much trouble that she’d be kicked out of the school, leaving Sana by herself.

Mina talked to Tzuyu about it and Tzuyu decided to race Mina for a chance to be with Sana since her feelings were really sincere and honest.

Mina sought this as a chance to prove to the class that she was better than Tzuyu and that she shouldn’t be with Sana.

The race however, had unforeseen obstacles.

Mina took a bad turn at a bend and almost went off a cliff had Tzuyu not blocked her car to stop it from spinning out of control.

As a result, Tzuyu had fallen out of the car and was left holding on to the edge of the cliff, badly hurt and possibly falling down a deep mountain area, never to be found again.

Mina rushed to help her up and immediately took her to the hospital.

They were both so stupid for considering this in the first place. Sana would’ve murdered Mina if something had happened to Tzuyu.

She’ll still get murdered actually, but not to the same extent.

Sana stayed by Tzuyu’s side the entire time and waited until she gained consciousness.

She slapped her for her stupidness but hugged her anyway, crying because her stupidity could have cost her life.

“If you ever do that again, I really will kill you! You two were so goddamn stupid! What if something happened to either of you? Huh?” Sana scolded.

Tzuyu only smiled at the girl. Grateful that she was currently in her arms despite how obviously angry she was.

Mina came in and forced Sana to leave so that they could talk.

Sana wanted to argue but Mina simply glared, making Sana run out of the room.

“This is quite hard for me to say… but I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have judged you from what people were saying. And also… thank you. Not only for saving my life, but also for being the one to care about my sister and care about her. But if you hurt her… I’ll come after you.” Said Mina, trying to sound scary.

Tzuyu only laughed and nodded. She would never ever hurt Sana in her wildest dreams.

The race began the friendship between Tzuyu and Mina and also turned her life around. She was more attentive in class and became more friendly towards everyone else.

She wanted to change for herself but more so, she wanted to change for Sana.

Even though Tzuyu and Sana liked each other, they were very shy around each other. Tzuyu was extremely nervous the first time she went to ask Sana out on a date.

 

She tried throwing a paper at her in class, she tried to talk to Sana during break and sat next to her at lunch time too. Tzuyu couldn’t ask Sana until she dragged her into a corridor after school.

“Will you go out on a date with me?” Tzuyu asked Sana, locking eyes with hers.

“Is this what you’ve been wanting to ask me all day? Of course I would!” Sana replied, laughing teasingly.

Tzuyu decided that their first date would be at the local theme park in town. Sana has wanted to go there for a while. She was really scared of heights so when they went on the Ferris wheel, Sana held Tzuyu’s hand really tightly.

She made Tzuyu promise not to tell anyone about it and blushingly looked away.

Tzuyu decided she should propose to Sana where it all started, the theme park.

She left her house to pick Sana up.

When she saw Sana, her breath picked up.

Sana looked so beautiful. She gave her confidence. She could do this. Tzuyu’s palms were getting sweaty thinking about what she’s prepared but seeing Sana standing there looking around and waiting for her was just what she needed to be calm.

She gave Tzuyu one of the many heart melting smiles that always made her heart flutter. She didn’t know what she did right in life to deserve such a beauty as her girlfriend. Tzuyu couldn’t help but stare.

“Ya! We’ve been together for so long why do you still look like at me like that when you see me?” Sana teased.

“Even if I see you every day, I’ll still stare at you like that because you’re beautiful. You surprise me every time I see you.” Tzuyu replied, her eyes glinting with love and sincerity.

“Did you do something bad again? Are you trying to butter me up?” Replied Sana, pouting.

Tzuyu simply kissed her pout away and pinched Sana’s cheeks.

“Nope. I really meant it. Now let’s go, it’s a surprise where we’re going to so don’t ask the many questions you always do.” Said Tzuyu, putting a blindfold on Sana and leading her to the car.

Sana nodded slowly, still unsure how she should feel about what was going to happen. She absolutely hated surprises because she was always too curious.

When Tzuyu parked the car at the theme park, she went out of the car and for a second Sana thought that she had left her in the car. She came around and opened Sana’s door, leading her out of the car.

“Are you ready?” Tzuyu asked Sana

“Can you take it off already! I’m going to die from my curiosity!” Squealed Sana.

Tzuyu only laughed at Sana’s impatience.

She stood in front of her and gently opened Sana’s blindfold so the change in light wouldn’t be so harsh.

Sana jumped up and down as soon as she saw where they were. Theme parks always gave her a thrill she couldn’t describe.

She immediately hugged Tzuyu so tight she couldn't breathe. She always loved their hugs outside because Tzuyu wasn’t very affectionate in public so it made her squirm.

“Sa…na, can’t-breathe.” Tzuyu managed to say.

“You just don’t want a hug right now.” Sana teased as she let the taller girl go.

Tzuyu only blushed and took Sana’s hand in hers and walked in, hand in hand. The air was chilly so she brought Sana closer to her, hoping to provide some warmth at least. She had forgotten to bring an extra jacket for Sana.

Oh! Tzuyu can just give Sana hers. She shrugged it off and put it on Sana’s shoulders instead.

“Aren’t you going to be cold Chewy?” Sana asked, using her nickname when she was concerned.

“Nope, I’m going to be fine! You need to be warm though!” Tzuyu replied cheerfully.

The truth was… Tzuyu was indeed cold. But she would rather get sick than Sana.

"Let's go on the dodgem cars Yoda!” Sana said, immediately dragging Tzuyu when she saw the ride.

They decided to sit in separate cars and Sana regretted it as soon as she the ride started. She couldn’t drive the car! Tzuyu only laughed at the confused Japanese girl and asked for permission to join her car from the riding instructors. Since it was just four of them, they gladly agreed.

Sana blushed in embarrassment as Tzuyu jumped into her car. Since they always drove together, Sana never knew how to drive one.

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone.” Whispered Tzuyu teasingly.

Sana hit her in response and Tzuyu drove the car, trying to avoid her punches.

Tzuyu felt like fairy floss after the ride so they went to the closest vendor.

“Do you want in on a stick or in a bag?” Tzuyu asked Sana.

“Hmm… stick!” Sana said excitedly, jumping up and down. She was such a child sometimes.

They both watched in awe as the person created the big puffy ball of holy yumminess.

Sana immediately attacked the fairy floss when they gave it to them and Tzuyu couldn’t help but laugh at the cuteness of this girl.

“Oh, oh! Look at me!” Sana said to Tzuyu, putting a piece of the fluff as her moustache.

“Oh! I’m going to do it too!” Replied Tzuyu, following her girlfriend’s steps.

“We look so funny!” Laughed Tzuyu as she took a selfie of themselves.

“Tzuyu-ya, that little toy squirrel looks just like me doesn’t it?” Said Sana, pointing at one of the prizes of a basketball game.

“Oh! It really does. You know what, I’m going to go play it. Wait here, I’ll get it for you.” Said Tzuyu.

Before Sana could say that it was okay, Tzuyu had already left. She honestly couldn’t tell who the child was in their relationship.

A few minutes later Tzuyu came back, pouting.

“Why? What happened?” Sana asked Tzuyu.

“I don’t think I’m good at throwing balls anymore.” Said Tzuyu, sadly, handing Sana a mini version of the squirrel instead of the larger one.

Sana didn’t want her to be sad so she happily took the smaller squirrel.

“I love the smaller one more! The big one looks scary!” Said Sana, excitedly.

Tzuyu smiled at Sana and her attempt to cheer her up.

“All right! Last ride Sana-ya.” Said Tzuyu, a little nervous again.

Sana and Tzuyu already went on all the rides and left the Ferris wheel last. Sana sat opposite Tzuyu but Sana was looking outside.

The Ferris wheel will stop soon so Tzuyu took out the ring, making sure Sana wasn’t looking.

Tzuyu looked outside and realised they were almost at the spot so she got down on one knee.

Sana immediately turned around and looked at Tzuyu and gushed.

“I love you more than anything in the world. You are my light, my sunshine, you are my warmth. You are the reason I smile every day and you are the reason I want to wake up the next. Will you marry me?" Tzuyu asked.

Sana started crying and Tzuyu didn't know what to do.

"What's wrong?" Tzuyu asked Sana, extremely worried. What did she do wrong?

Sana shook her head and held out her hand.

Tzuyu slipped the ring on her finger and wiped away Sana’s tears. She leaned in and kissed Sana with all her heart and emotions from high school. She kept holding her hand as they went down the Ferris wheel and she was never going to let go.

 

Bonus:

The next day:

“WHO TOLD YOU TO GIVE ME YOUR JACKET CHOU TZUYU.” Scolded Sana.

Tzuyu was currently huddled in a mountain of blankets and sniffling because her nose was blocked.

“Ugh Sana, I couldn’t let you be sick. Can you stop screaming at me please? My throat hurts.” Replied Tzuyu, trying to win the girl with the sick version of her aegyo.

“I really fell in love with a pabo. Watch what I do when you get better.” Threatened Sana, walking out of their room and into the kitchen to make some soup for the pabo.

She fed the sick girl carefully, blowing on each bite before feeding her. She checked her temperature and was glad that it had lowered significantly. Sana washed the dishes and went back to check on Tzuyu but she had already fallen asleep.

She kissed her forehead and climbed into the mountain of blankets with her, embracing her and pulling her head down to the crook of her own shoulder. She kissed her shoulder and drifted off to sleep in the warmth.

She was probably going to be sick now, but it was worth it.
