Fly and be free
Cool Hot Sweet L.O.V.E.When she returned to Seoul, Joy could not do anything but sleep for one whole day. The day after that, she called Wendy and Irene to go for massages together, all of them squealing and screaming whenever their masseuse pressed on a really sore muscle.
A few days later, Wendy called for a final meeting before her flight to Canada the next day. All seven of them met up at a local cafe, their favorite place, according to Wendy. They had spent most of their afternoons lounging in the cafe or sometimes playing pool at the nearby pool room. They had also spent their time together going to soccer and baseball games, Wendy had reminisced with teary eyes.
"What time is your flight tomorrow?" Changsub asked after few rounds of small talks. The mood for that day was sombre with all of them feeling the sadness of losing a friend to another continent. Even Sungjae came early to the cafe without having Wendy yelling at him for being late again.
"6.30 am. It's a 13 hour flight." She said. Silence filled the cafe. Even though Joy had been with them for only a short while, she knew that this was not the usual way their meetings goes on. These were happy people who always had things to say and jokes to throw at each other.
"Come on guys, don't be like this. I promise I will skype whenever I can." Wendy tried to lighten the mood. Irene started to sob next to her. The boys panicked and scattered around to fetch some tissue for her.
Joy tried to calm Irene down, murmuring soothing words and giving her some water. Eventually she calmed down and collected herself.
"Sorry guys, I just had to let it out." Irene apologised. All of them understood that Irene would be the person who was affected the most with Wendy's departure. They had been best friends since middle school and the possibility of losing her best and oldest friend was heart breaking. Wendy sniffled and blew her nose loudly. She had also started crying when Irene started sobbing. Eunkwang gave her another tissue, while wiping his own tears. He had a soft heart, this one, Joy thought to herself.
Sungjae was quiet the whole time. He did not utter a single word since the moment they met earlier. He had news of his own but he was unsure how to break it to his friends, especially now when two of his best friends, okay, three of his best friends, had been crying just moments ago. He was agonizing on how to tell them when he felt a pair of eyes on him. He turned to see Joy watching him questioningly. He wondered maybe this was the best time to tell them.
