jongin loses his mind every time he sees kyungsoo biting his lips and decides to do something about it

warning: fluff, mistakes here and there because i did this during my free time at work and i knew where i was going with the drabble and then it went a totally different way so yeah... (prob edit this when i'm free but idk it's just trash)

Jongin looked around the cafeteria, scanning the crowded tables for a place to sit down and eat and study. He huffed when he couldn’t find one at the moment and immediately turned his head when he heard the cashier ask, “Hi, how may I help you?”

He blinked and placed his container of broccoli cheddar soup and wrapped chicken salad sandwich on the counter. “Just these.”

The cashier smiled and quickly totaled up his purchase. He paid the employee and set out to look for a seat.

Jongin twisted his lips to one side as he scanned his surroundings, soup and sandwich in both hands. There were a few empty seats but the people around it made a huge mess and he’d rather eat outside in the cold than in their filth. His eyes suddenly flitted over to a family figure hunched over in a booth and he had to resist the smile threatening to bubble up.

Over on the right side of the cafeteria was his favorite upperclassman and current crush, Do Kyungsoo. The two became friends when Kyungsoo was the orientation leader for his group. He only did it because his friend bugged him into joining him in being a leader since he didn’t want to be alone. He was in charge of the group Jongin was in and the two hit it off quite quickly having been from the same high school and being the same major. Ever since then, their friendship took off and so did Jongin’s crush.

The younger cleared his throat and confidently walked over. He tapped a finger on the table and Kyungsoo looked up, eyes wide and chewing on his bottom lip.

Jongin melted from that one look. There was one particular quirk of Kyungsoo's that absolutely drove him crazy. No matter what the elder was doing, he would always be biting his lips. Whether he was studying or listening to music or playing a quick game of pool during his free time, he would always bite his bottom lip. It was ridiculous and it made him want to kiss him so badly.

“Hey Jongin,” Kyungsoo smiled, pushing his glasses further up.

“Hey hyung. Do you mind if I sit here?”

“Not at all! Let me just clear some of my notes.”

Jongin chuckled as he settled in the seat opposite him and looked at the papers that littered the surface. “Wow, someone’s a hard worker.”

Kyungsoo did a one shoulder shrug as he gathered up his notes. “S’nothing much, really. Midterms are next week and I’m just trying to cram in as much studying as I can.”

“Holy , midterms are next week?” Jongin gaped.

The elder snorted and his tongue darted out to his dry lips. “Why am I not surprised that you forgot already?”

“I’m so ed,” he muttered as he buried his face in his palms.

Kyungsoo softly laughed and he said, “Don’t worry, you still have time to study. Is that broccoli cheddar?”

Jongin looked up and stared forlornly at his soup that was starting to get cold. “Yeah. I wanted something warm for lunch and this was one of the only good options they had so…”

“Good choice. Hey, if anything happens, you can always find me to help you study. I think I still have some old exams for bio and stuff.”

“Honestly, that sounds awesome,” Jongin said, finally cracking a weak smile and reaching for his spoon.

“Don’t worry, you’ll do fine.” Kyungsoo grinned. He then looked back down at his notes, biting his lips once again.

Jongin smiled to himself at the sight and he started to eat his lunch.

Midterms were finally upon all the students and everyone was freaking out more or less, Jongin included. He already handed in his paper for his philosophy class and just finished his calculus midterm. All that’s left was his bio exam and he could rest easy over the weekend.

He walked into the library and settled down at a table in a quiet corner. He pulled out his notes and quickly focused his entire being on all the notes he had taken during the first half of the semester. As he focused and grew deaf to the world, someone pulled out the seat across from his and sat down, carefully placing their books on the wooden surface.

Jongin looked up from his notebook and sharply inhaled at the sight of Kyungsoo sitting across from him. 

The elder flashed him a small smile. “You don’t mind me sitting here, right?”

“N-Not at all.”

“Awesome.”

Despite what he said, it slightly bothered Jongin. He wanted to focus and study his off but with Kyungsoo sitting across from him, his concentration was broken and all he could do was steal secret glances at him. It wasn’t easy studying with his crush sitting right across from him. He was slowly losing his mind.

Every time he finished going over a topic, he would look up and stare at Kyungsoo for a few seconds, taking in the view of his crush as much as possible before he looked back down at his notes. At first the peeks were a few seconds but slowly dragged on as time flew by. And every time he looked up, Kyungsoo’s eyebrows would be furrowed and he would be gently gnawing on his lower lip. It drove him insane.

All of a sudden, Jongin got up from his seat, the wooden chair scraping loudly against the carpeted floor. Kyungsoo jumped in surprise and looked up. “Everything okay?” He asked worriedly.

As much as he wanted to make up a lame excuse as to why he got up, he just couldn’t. He had to settle this lip biting Kyungsoo thing once and for all.

“No, I’m not okay. Do you mind if I talk to you for a few minutes?”

The elder blinked and got up from his seat, wordlessly following after the boy. They walked to the stairwell and Jongin leaned against the wall with a sigh. “I don’t know how to phrase this,” he mumbled to himself, head hanging low and bangs covering his eyes.

Kyungsoo frowned and crossed his arms over his chest. “Is there something bothering you? Is it Baekhyun again? Because I can beat him up for you if you want.”

Jongin snorted when he imagined the shorter beating up his friend. “No, it’s not Baekhyun hyung's fault. He’s actually been helping me out instead of messing with me this semester,” he said with a small smile.

The shorter relaxed and he tilted his head to the side. “If that’s the case, then what’s got you all annoyed?”

“I’m not annoyed. It’s just—there’s something that you do that makes me feel a certain way,” he lamely explains.

“Me?” Kyungsoo looked surprised. “What is it I do that makes you feel weird?”

Jongin ran a hand through his hair with a scowl on his face. “It doesn’t make me feel weird! I honestly don’t know how to explain this.”

“Take your time. I’m here for you,” Kyungsoo said softly, hand gently touching his arm.

The boy jerked his arm from his touch, surprising the both of them. A flash of hurt flickered in Kyungsoo's eyes and he sheepishly rubbed his arm. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that.”

Jongin groaned and slapped a hand over his face. “God, I’m so sorry, hyung. I didn’t mean to do that either. You just surprised me.”

“It’s okay,” the elder mumbled, looking down at his feet.

The boy took in a deep breath and slowly let it out. He shook out his hair and then reached out for Kyungsoo’s hand. “I’m really sorry about taking out my frustration on you but I’ll explain everything now.”

Kyungsoo looked up with wide eyes and he continued. “I’ve liked you ever since we got close at orientation. You are the kindest, most thoughtful person I’ve ever met and I couldn’t help but fall for you. But there’s this one thing you do that drives me absolutely crazy. Every time you bite your lips, I just want to grab your face and kiss you silly because god I love your lips. So there, that’s why I looked like I was so bothered earlier.”

Jongin released the breath he was holding in while confessing and looked through his bangs to see the elder’s reaction.

Kyungsoo couldn’t help but stare at him in shock. The younger sighed and he headed for the door while muttering, “I knew this was stupid.”

He felt a tug on the back of his shirt and turned to see Kyungsoo’s face glowing red. He was taken aback by the reaction and he hesitantly said, “Hyung?”

“Give me a moment. I’m still letting this sink in.”

The two stood in the stairwell in silence, a few students passing by them with weird looks their face. Kyungsoo let out a sigh with a smile and he lifted his head. “So you want to kiss me?”

Jongin choked out, “W-What?”

The shorter chuckled as he shrugged. “All I got from that was that you like me and that you really want to kiss me. To be honest, I kinda liked you from orientation too. You had this clueless look on your face the whole time and it was really cute.”

The boy let out a whoosh of air and laughed in disbelief. “I can’t believe this.”

“Well believe it because it’s true.”

Jongin hesitantly stepped closer to Kyungsoo and shyly asked, “So, can I?”

A light dusting of pink settled on Kyungsoo’s cheeks and he meekly nodded. Jongin carefully cupped his cheeks and leaned closer, his lips inching closer and closer until they were pressed against the elder’s.

Jongin couldn’t help but let out a sigh because Kyungsoo’s lips were just as soft as he imagined. It was like kissing a recently fluffed pillow and it was like heaven.

He pulled away and slowly opened his eyes. Kyungsoo was biting back a smile and Jongin felt a sense of pride swelling up in his chest. 

“Was it okay?” Kyungsoo asked.

“More than okay.” Jongin grinned, resting his forehead against the shorter’s.

“Do you wanna kiss again?”

“Yeah, I do.”

Kyungsoo laughed and they kissed once more. Jongin let out a moan when he felt the other boy nibbling at his lips and they quickly separated.

“Sorry, force of habit,” Kyungsoo apologized bashfully, scratching a spot below his ear.

Jongin shook his head and smiled widely. “It’s okay, I liked it anyways."
