SYN: Momo is a rescue firefighter whose wife died while she was helping someone else in an accident. Struggling with guilt for being unable to save her wife, Momo frantically jumps into dangers to rescue others, until she meets Mina, a doctor at a general hospital, who falls for Momo when Momo saved her from an accident.

Every one was taken aback when a restaurant full of people suddenly burst into flames. People reported smelling the string stench of gasoline but no one did anything about it thinking that it was normal in a barbeque restaurant. When the news was reported on TV, Momo was the first one to shoot up even before the fire bell rang.

JY: Ya! Momo! Where are you-

“ALL UNITS REPORT IN YOU GEAR TO THE GARAGE IMMEDIATELY”

Her team, consisting of Jeongyeon, Chaeyoung and Jihyo, rushed to suit up and get on their assigned truck. Before the door even closed properly, Jihyo had already stepped on the gas and sped to the burning site.

MM: STEP ON IT JIHYO!

JH: I would if we don’t have law to follow!

Momo hit the side window in anger and clenched her fist. When they arrived, she was the first to get her equipment and strap herself in her safety gear before turning in her heel and heading into the blaze.

“YA! ARE YOU CRAZY?!” Jeongyeon yelled as she grabbed hold on the latter’s arm and pulled her back.

MM: Let go, Yoo! There are people inside!

JY: You’re just being reckless!

Momo glared at Jeongyeon and shook her grip away before running into the blaze. Jeongyeon screamed her name a few times before running her hair through her hand in anger. She ran back and helped Chaeyoung connect the hose to the hydrant while the latter ran to fight the fire. As the backup arrived, Jihyo was already activating the mechanical hose on the truck while Jeongyeon was helping Chaeyoung control the blast of water.

Most of the people managed to escape but the numbers that were trapped inside were not known. Suddenly, there was a second blast which sent all the fire fighters stumbling. This was when the commander started to worry and tired his best to radio in to Momo. But he got no reply.

“Damn it Hirai…”

Suddenly, they all saw a silhouette staggering out of the building with a man around her shoulder. Firemen immediately rushed to her and helped her carry the man away before she turned back in against orders. More men went in after the place was deemed clear and they managed to rescue a few and recover bodies of others. After 1 hour of fighting the fire, the squad managed to kill the fire with water and foam. Because of the explosion, Momo suffered a horrible burn on her back and fainted. Luckily, Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung were able to break her fall and take her to the paramedics.

“Get her on a stretcher! Byul, check her vitals!” Solar screamed as she directed the other medics to the victims that were more in need of medical care.

M: Smoke inhalation and a 2nd degree burn! We need to intubate her! Wheein, stand by the oxygen!

Solar got on to the ambulance and Hwasa immediately stomped on the pedal and headed to wards Seoul National hospital.

H: Fire fighter coming in!

MI: I’m doctor Myoui. Update me.

M: Patient had inhaled smoke and a second-degree burn on the upper right of her back. Intubated her and gave her oxygen but still no response.

MI: Thank you, we will handle it from here.

The immediately checked the woman again, asking her doctors to link her up to the electrocardiogram and linking her to the oxygen. The girl was stained in shoot but Mina could see her attractive facial features. She then wasted no time to undress her, revealing her sports bra and extremely toned abs. She shook the though off her mind and focused on treating her. After a while, her vitals improved and the girl coughed; a sign of her getting better. She was immediately moved to a private ward, cleaned and made to stay there so the doctors can keep an eye on her.

The next day, Momo blinked herself away and looked around to see a nurse looking at her chart.

“Oh, Ms. Hirai, you’re awake! Let me call the doctor.”

MM: What… happened…

 “Don’t worry, rest well and Ms. Myoui will explain it to you.”

Momo placed her hands on her chest. It was really uncomfortable and there was still a little of that burning sensation. Also, when she tried to move, there was a sharp pain on her right upper back.

“Don’t worry, the pain will go away. You inhaled too much smoke when you ran into that building and got burned.”

MM: It’s you…

MI: Well, hi… again, officer Hirai.

MM: Get me outtahhh

MI: Don’t even think about going back to work for the next few days. You are stuck here with me. Don’t bother about the hospital fees. I’ll settle that.

But Momo refused to listen. She demanded for morphine but again, Mina was also as stubborn as her. She ignored the latter and walked out of the room. After a few days, Momo finally got the green light to be discharged and she headed back to the dorm she shared with the alpha squad. When it was known that she was back, the chief immediately called the whole team to the office and gave them a good scolding.

JYP: What you did was horrible. Yes, you are supposed to rescue but endangering the lives of yourself and the others is not right! We have protocols! … … You are not in the right state of mind right now. I’m going to dismiss you for a few days. Go clear your mind.

MM: I don’t need it sir.

JYP: If Dahyun’s death still affects you and you think that it’s your fault, then yes. You need to take that break.

Momo stood outside her “shared” apartment with Dahyun before twisting open the door. She dropped her duffle bag on the floor and looked around the dark and empty space before crashing face down on the couch, looking at the wedding portrait of her and Dahyun. Tears started to well up in her eyes as she was reminded of that day; her failure as a fire personnel. Momo sighed and decided to get herself up to clean the dusty place. After Dahyun’s passing, she hadn’t returned to the place because of the horrible memories it held.

Momo took off her shirt and walked around in her sports bra before pulling the curtains open and letting the sunlight’s warmth hit her body. She then started her cleaning and washing up before taking time in the shower. She laid flat on the bed and didn’t do anything other than going out to get cup noodles or to workout.

Mina had the day off and went out to a café for a drink and did some reports. After a few hours in the café, she decided that it was time to leave. She looked left and right before she jay walked but suddenly, she heard a loud honk and a tug as she fell into someone’s embrace. Mina’s heart almost stopped and her legs immediately got weak. The hold around her tightened and supported her up from falling. Mina pushed herself away a little to see the fire fighter looking at her with concern written all over her face. She blushed and pushed her away as she looked away to hide her embarrassment.

“T-thanks…” Mina managed to utter before the woman started jogging away. Mina turned her head to look at the figure disappearing around the corner before holding her hand to her chest. Her heart was beating really fast. She then collected herself and smirked as she walked back to her apartment.

MI: Hirai Momo, I’m going to make you mine!

Fast forward to the welcoming ceremony of new male and female fire fighters, Momo and her team, along with other existing members, watched as the new members came up batch by batch to accept their enlistment certificate. Momo wasn’t paying much attention until they announced for the medical unit to come on stage.

“Hey, isn’t that the doctor from the hospital?” Jihyo asked as she nudged Momo’s arm. Momo reluctantly looked up and her eyes immediately widened. She leaned forward and squinted her eyes to get a better look and saw that woman, named Myoui Mina, smirking from the stage.

MM: No way…

CY: I wonder why she chose to come on to the force.

After the ceremony, Momo was in a hurry to leave so as to avoid the woman but she managed to catch sight of the officer and ran towards him before he could leave.

MI: Ya! Hirai Momo! YA!

Momo stopped and Mina crashed into her back and stumbled. The whole room went dead silent after hearing Mina call out to the captain of the Alpha team. It was only her first day here and she already defied a superior. Chaeyoung helped the latter up while Momo shot a killer glare to Jeongyeon before turning around.

“Attention!” Lieutenant Yoo shouted and everyone in the room turned stiff. Mina looked around in confusion before breaking into laughter and giving a soft nudge to Momo’s chest. Jihyo’s jaw dropped, Jeongyeon’s eyes widened and Chaeyoung whispered into Mina’s ear. Immediately after that, Mina stood in attention and apologized profusely.

MM: I never want to see anyone talking down on their superiors ever again. Got it?!

ALL: Yes Captain!

MM: Lieutenant Son, Lieutenant Park. Deal with her and make sure she finishes all the punishments.

Mina was made to run while carrying a hose, endurance exercises and also agility courses. By the end of the day, Mina was sore all over and dragged her body back to her assigned dorm. If it weren’t for Chaeyoung and Jihyo’s kindness to cut down some sets, she would have died. Her dorm mates, whom she already bonded with during the pre-enlistment period, helped her with her things and brought her to the sofa.

NY: You were brave back there.

TY: More like stupid…

NY: Shut up woman.

Tzuyu raised her hand and pursed her lips before leaving the two alone.

MI: She’s right… I thought I was still a doctor in the hospital… I just haven’t got used to the rules here.

NY: Go have a shower, I think we will know where we are assigned to later.

As Mina dragged her sore body out, Tzuyu wasted no time to grab the latter and drag her to the bulletin board where Nayeon was already looking.

NY: Mina! You and me are assigned to the same spot!

TY: Great… I’m alone in Beta team… Where are you guys?

NY: Alpha! OH MY GOD!

MI: We are with…

TY: The captain. Good luck~

Mina couldn’t help but groan because she knew that they would suffer under their hands but another part of her was excited because she could get closer to Momo.

“WHAT?!” Momo shot up of the bed, knocking her head in the process.

JY: Don’t look at me like that, I’m not the one who assign these things…

JH: I heard that she was the top doctor along with the Nayeon girl… So maybe that is why she was assigned to us?

MM: I am going to try talking to the chief.

CY: Don’t even try. He won’t change it. And why are you being so sensitive?

MM: I’M NOT!

CY: Whatever bro, we have team training in 10, so see y’all there.

Nayeon and Mina reported at the field after their medical training. She saw the captain and smiled but she just looked away and gave a noticeable sigh. For today’s team training, there were supposed to put out a fire, go in to recuse the “dummy” and the medic team have to treat their wounds. The 3 main teams, Alpha, Beta and Charlie were lined up at the start line and went off when the gun was shot.

Jihyo was strong her and so she carried the hose’s nozzle towards Jeongyeon and Momo who was waiting at the side lines while Chaeyoung ran the other end to the fire hydrant. Mina and Nayeon watched in awe as in that mere 5 seconds, the hose was attached and in Momo and Jeongyeon’s hands. Jeongyeon was the front man while Momo supported from the back and they started putting out the fire 3 seconds ahead of the other teams. But suddenly, something in Momo snapped. She charged towards the flaming building before it was extinguished and dove in for the rescue. Nayeon and Mina saw people panicking; the trainer was screaming at them, Jihyo ran towards Jeongyeon to try to help her control the water while the other teams had already directed their blast at Alpha team’s flaming building.

NY: What just happened?

MI: I have no idea…

Teeth chattered, jaws clenched and bodies twitched as the Alpha team was placed through a planking endurance exercise.

“Because of one of your reckless actions, all of you shall be punished! One for all, all for one! I am greatly disappointed by your actions today Hirai. Do you know how many lives you might have endangered just now?!” The fire chief yelled.

JYP: Meet me in my office after you end your punishment.

After the end of the punishment, Momo, Mina and Nayeon were lying on the ground with their aching abs while Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung did them a favor by getting them some water. Momo got up after a while and left the two alone with out explanation.

MI: Ya! Where are you going?

NY: Mina are you mad?! She’s your captain!

MI: I don’t think she even fits to be one!

Momo stopped and gave a noticeable sigh but chose not to waste her time on Mina. She continued walking away while Nayeon covered Mina’s mouth in time to not lose the second chance.

JY: Where’s Momo?

Nayeon and Mina shot up in attentions as the three lieutenants got back.

JH: Cool it on the formalities, but not in front of the captain and higher ups.

“Here.”
