I was watching TV while Christine fiddled with her phone. I looked at her as she smiled while looking at her phone. I couldn’t help but smile when I saw her smiling like that.

“Is it your boyfriend?” I asked her as Christine stopped what she was doing and looked at me. Her smile had faded which made me wonder if I had offended her.

“Boyfriend? I don’t have such a thing.” She replied and I looked at her with even more concern. Why was she so serious?

“Then who are you talking to that’s making you smile that way?” I asked her and Christine smiled once more before showing me her phone screen.

“My student’s leader has been sending me message after message worried that I was by your members. His imagination is something. Kind of reminds me of dad, don’t you think?” Christine asked me and sure enough she was right. Whoever this person was he did sound like dad. Assuming the worst of a tiny situation. The sudden thought made me wonder.

“Does dad know what happened?” I asked Christine as she was typing away and then stopped to face me. She smiled before shaking her head.

“I didn’t want to worry him or mom so I didn’t tell them. Not even Jay and Jason.” Christine told me which made me relax. Christine suddenly began to dig into her bag while standing up.

“Is something wrong?” I asked her as Christine stopped what she was doing and looked at me with a smile.

“No. I was just looking for change to buy a drink. Do you want anything?” She asked me and I shook my head. She nodded and left with her bag in her hand. After Christine left I grabbed my phone that was laying on the nightstand. A missed call from Gabe. Gabe? He never calls me. I quickly dialed Gabe and he answered after a single ring.

“Adelaide?” Gabe said from the other line. He seems worried.

“Yeah what’s wrong? You don’t sound okay. Is something wrong?” I asked him fearing the worst possible outcome.

“That’s what I want to know. I called you a while ago but some guy answered. When I asked where you were he only told me that he had to call Christine. Are you okay? Is Christine okay?” He asked sounding more and more worried with every question. Guy? What guy?

“Gabe we’re fine. It was a misunderstanding. I wanted to call Christine but a friend had to make a call so I lent him my phone. After he was done you must’ve called and that’s why he said what he did.” I lied in hopes of calming down Gabe. He is worse than my older brother.

“Then why didn’t Christine answer my calls either? Are you lying to me? Does Christine have some stalker who’s threatening you? You can tell me. I’ll be on the first flight there.” Gabe reassured me while I rolled my eyes. And I thought Christine’s students’ leader had a crazy imagination.  Suddenly the door opened and Christine walked in. She looked at me and I motioned her over.

“She’s a workaholic. You should know that by now. When she was in the U.S she was always working every day at her job bright and early. That much hasn’t changed. Here you talk to her.” I said as I handed Christine the phone. She frowned at me while I smiled. She picked up the phone and spoke.

“Hel-” Christine couldn’t even finish before Gabe started lecturing her causing her to flinch and pull the phone backwards. She rolled her eyes before putting the phone on speaker for me to hear.

“- you’re not going to answer than why bother having a phone! Do you know how worried I was!? I thought something bad happened to both of you! Did you even bother checking your phone!? I called and called you with no reply! How can you do that to your best friend!?” Christine sighed deeply before making me grab the phone. Gabe went on and on nagging Christine while she took out her phone. She showed me her phone screen. Sure enough Gabe had been calling her nonstop. Christine grabbed my phone from me.

“Gabe are you dying or something? Why are you calling me like crazy?” Christine asked him and I couldn’t help but laugh at her reaction. She was always like this with him. Even when we were back in Florida.

I was doing my homework while listening to music from my phone. I was focused completely on my work and to the song currently playing. When suddenly my phone stopped playing my music and my ringtone rang. I frowned as I looked at my phone screen.

Incoming call from Gabe.

Gabe? Calling me? I answered while frowning slightly.

“Gabe?” I asked him as I heard mumbling from the other line.

“Adelaide? Good thing you answered. Where’s my best friend?” He asked me which made me frown even more. Why was he calling me asking about Christine?

“Taking a shower. Why?” I asked him as I heard a sigh from the other line. I made a face at my phone completely confused.

“I was calling her for a while now.” Gabe explained which was no help to clearing my confusion.

“Why?” I asked him once more hoping he’d clear this all up rather than confusing me even more.

“I wanted to ask her if she can send me the answers to our math homework.” Gabe said shamelessly. I facepalmed myself at his comment. Did he really call me just for answers to his homework? I sighed deeply before answering.

“Okay. I got it. I’ll let her know after she gets out.” I reassured him as I hung up. I rolled my eyes and went back to doing my homework. A few minutes later Christine got out of the shower and entered my room. I looked up and looked at her standing in my doorway as she was drying her hair.

“Are you going to take a shower?” Christine asked me. I nodded and she left my room. She went inside her room located right beside my room.

“What the …. Why did Gabe call me so many times?” I could hear Christine say to herself from her room and I suddenly remembered my conversation with Gabe.

“Christine Gabe wants the answers to the math homework assignment!” I shouted to her as I went back to my own homework. A few minutes later I can hear Christine calling Gabe.

“You better be dying Gabe. Why are you calling me like crazy?” Christine whined as she was talking to her best friend.

“Did you seriously call me just for math homework!?” Christine shouted causing me to jump in surprise. I rolled my eyes. I should be used to this. There’s never one day where Christine isn’t arguing with her best friend.

“I was worried that something happened to you. I was calling you like crazy to see how you were but your phone was off so I called Adelaide but some guy answered saying he had to call you. I thought he was a creep or worse.” Gabe said in one breath. Both of us looked at the phone surpri
